Mmmm. Andy's got a kind section of the draw, he's beaten Carraz and Ram recently. So were he to beat Bloomfield and then Mergea/Polansky he'd be looking in pretty good shape. I'd love to be able to get there and watch this tournament, Takao and Sjeng are both brilliant players I'd love to see.

Sjeng Schalken. Don't like his game, but he doesn't deserve all these injuries and problems. Good luck to him. I'd say playing doubles would give him match rhythm (and confidence, maybe), but he doesn't want to play I guess.

French refresher course:
"Est-ce que Murray a gagne son match?" [pronounced esca Murray a (as as in abdominal) guynyay son (that French sound) match]

No, he lost in two sets, six-three, seven-six.

Another Challenger in Vancouver, Canada.

Petchey did talk about putting him in for the Masters Series qualifying, but said there's no point running before you can walk!

Plenty of time for all that...

I found this quick review of the first two matches played yesterday on the tournament website. I thought Murray fans might be consoled as I was by this report, which suggests the match was close. On the other hand, sometimes it's hard to know whether any reporter is basing his report on what he has seen of a match, or not.

I have a few thoughts on this and also about Andy's schedule that I will post on his personal forum.

EN QUARTS DE FINALE : DANCEVIC S’INCLINE Le Français CARRAZ triomphe de l’Anglais MURRAY

Granby – Le 29 juillet 2005.

Translation into English:
Quarter Finals: Dancevic bows out, the Frenchman Carraz triumphs over the Englishman [sic] Murray

Granby - 29 July 2005. In the curtain-raiser, this morning, after brilliantly winning the first set, Frank Dancevic was unable to maintain his rhythm against the Venezuelan Ramon Delgado, who eventually triumphed 4-6, 6-1 6-4. The second singles match, to the great pleasure of the crowd, was hotly disputed between Andy Murray, of Great Britain, and the Frenchman Gregory Carraz, who finally won 6-3 7-6 (7).
