I think it depends on geographical region... On Polish radio charts the anthems are gong to look differently, including the songs: Coldplay "Speed of sound", Audioslave "Be yourself", Gorillaz "Feel good inc.", The Killers "Somebody told me", The White Stripes "Blue Orchid" :)

But I think The Black Eyed Peas' song is the most worldwide :)

I think we should go back to the era of Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Van Halen and all those fantastic Heavy Metal bands and let them have the anthem. I hate modern music. Heavy Metal and Classical all the way!

None of the aforementioned songs will be the summer anthem this year. It will once again be such a ridiculous song as the Ketchup Song or Dragisteo Din Teo (or sumping like that). Just go clubbing in any major mediterranean beach resort and find out for yourself.

I've voted for Gwen Stefani but my favourite for this summer is not proposed, it's La tortura of Shakira !!

I know what most of the song means...but someone will have to go and fill some of the blanks and fix my horrible spanish. My spanish skills are not so good.

The is a crude translation of the song:

friday night it's party time
feeling ready looking fine,
viene diego rumbeando, (I am not sure what that means....something about a guy named Diego coming "rumbeando")
with the magic in his eyes
checking every girl in sight,
grooving like he does the mambo
he's the man there in the club,
playing sexy felling hotter,
he's the king dancing the rhythm ragatanga, [I dont know what ragatanga is either]
and the dj that he knows well,
on the spot always around twelve,
plays the mix that diego mezcla with the salsa(I am not sure about what mezcla means)
and he dances it, he dances, and he sings it(something to that effect, I always screw up lo, la, le, les, etc.)

[Chorus:][Know that in the song, the chorus is kind of a phonetic of the spanish words, so, I could have screwed it up]
I said a hip hop the hippie the hippie
to the hip hip hop, a you don't stop:
the rock it to the bang bang boogie say up jumped the boogie
to the rhythm of the boogie, the beat

many think its magic,
how he comes and disappears,
every move will hypnotize you,
some will call it charm(?),
others say that its the real,
rastafari afrogitano (no idea what that means)

he's the man there in the club,
playing sexy felling hotter,
he's the king dancing the rhythm ragatanga,
and the dj that he knows well,
on the spot always around twelve,
plays the mix that Diego mezcla with the salsa,
and he dances to it and he dances and he sings to it.

It, like a lot of other songs, doesnt really have much meaning. It just has an addicting quality and a dance that goes with it that is good for forcing upon others at weddings.
