Scoreboard says he retired whilst up 7-6 2-1. I'll take the win for Jonas, though.

That sucks for Nikolay...was it like Kiefer's wrist injury last year at the USO, where he was trying to volley?

That's a real shame for him, sfter retiring in the AO too...

He stood there explaining the injury to Jonas for a long time...

Did he look really hurt? Did it look a major injury?

 from the webcam... Not the way I wanted Jonas to get through, but like you said... I'll take the 'win'. Jonas needs all the help he can get :hug:

The pictures don't look good, with his wrist dangling like that.

That's very bad for Davydenko. I don't blame him for not taking a chance with a wrist injury.

Yeah, especially since he's got the summer coming up with clay court tourneys coming up where he has a better chance to do well than here.

I caught the very end of the match (when he was talking to Jonas) on TV when I got home from work -and yes it did seem pretty serious - he looked in a lot of pain. I didn't see any of the actual play so I couldn't tell you what shots were affected most or anything like that, but he certainly did look in a lot of discomfort. Get well soon Kolya.

Poor Kolya, he was in good form and had a decent draw too.
Hope he gets back soon!

The door opens even more for Johansson vs Youzhny/aging Bjorkman.

 So unfortunate, especially since Nikolay's been in such awesome form. I hope he's okay to kick more ass in the US.

This could open up Youzhny's draw, although if he can lose a 6-1 set to the pathetic Lisnard, he can also lose to Bjorkman. I've thought the whole time that he had an outside chance for his first GS quarterfinal... come on, kid. Two more wins.
