Hahaha :haha: that was a brilliant Burgsmuller. I watched it on German Television this match. Good laughing for me and I'm not big Burgsmuller fan :p

How week Puerta is when match is not played on clay :haha: Totally laughable. :) Puerta's weakneses having been braught to light to full size.

But six games too much allowed :(

It was a great match from Burgsmüller, though he could have finished it sooner in the 3rd! :)

Like Puerta is going to be devastated at this result.

Lars is playing well for the last few tournaments. It's a pity that some posters discredit his performance by stomping on his opponent's grass court finesse.

:yeah: Lars

Well, at least Puerta had the guts to show up and didn't use any dubious reasons to pull out just to continue playing a Challenger on clay during the 2nd week of Wimbledon or jokes like that.

As for the result... well, Jogy... it's not so much surprising that Puerta gets his ass handed to on everything else than clay. I think his best-ever result in a tournament that was NOT being played on clay was winning two matches in a row ONCE only. That says it all.

Concerning Lars Burgsmüller. Well, I said it in the German forum already, but I'm more than glad to repeat it: It was his first 2nd round in a Grand Slam since Roland Garros 2004. I'm glad he got it and that the draw seemed to be in his favour as he drew one of the beatable seeds. Good overall job Lars, Puerta got stronger in the third set as indicated by the scoreline, but thanksfully was not too much impressed by that and carried the match home. :yeah:

Burgsmuller is at his best on faster surfaces and any success he has had has been on this and this is not a surprising result at all and good for him.

He turned up and got his cash and 1 point is which 1 point he had more than last year.

I still remember when a few of the clay guys turned up at Wimbledon in the late 80s and 90s, knew they didn't have a chance or cared, what do people want players to turn up and not give a crap just to fill an obligation.

The funniest is when McEnroe got pissed off with someone's court behaviour.

Lee, sure it has helped Burgsmuller a lot that Puerta is very bad on grass. He would not have been winning against other seeded players I think.

I think his best-ever result in a tournament that was NOT being played on clay was winning two matches in a row ONCE only. That says it all.
LOL  Is that truth? Then Puerta is even more bad as I had think before. Unbelievable.

Good to see that you had some fun, Jogy.

I enjoyed the Lars win also. But this match was still nothing compared to the alltime great grasscourt match-up between Puerta and Puentes. If you thought this match today was fun, then you might probably run out of words looking for a description for this match.

I think it was good that at least Mariano turned up unlike some clay courter specialists who sometimes miss Wimbledon!

At least he tried and didn't give up at the end when he could've easilytanked. Nevertheless, it is pretty bad getting slapped around by Lars even on a fast surface.
