Willy — has an injury (wrist they say)
Ok, he's not playing Wimbledon, that's a bad thing for everybody, worse for him of course.
But we're already wondering about his chances of playing in DC and personally, have no nails left to bite in my hands :scared:

What are we gonna do without Willy — in the Team if he cannot play??????

:scared: :scared:

I think that Mancini should call a doubles specialist with the three more likely to be called:
Nalbandian, Coria, Puerta and (Etlis perhaps?)

Why Puerta??? I know Mancini wants him, but why? I like him a lot, but he's never won a match on grass! I'd put David, Coria, Etlis and...Chucho? I don't know, we're done!
BTW, maybe Willy's injury is not that bad, he's got an elbow injury, not a wrist one ;)

I think because he has proved he is a fighter, and RG showed everyone that he is not afraid of the big stage. I just hope this doesn't put too much pressure on David - it was always going to be an uphill struggle for Argentina - this has just made it more so I'm afraid

Oh elbow injury then? I dunno which one is lighter.....I hope elbow

I would not pick Puerta either but  that's what I've heard and read over the Internet. Chucho might be a good choice (I would love Calleri to play instead but... injury)

I know he's fighter and will give it all, and that he's having a great moment, but I would have waited till after Wimbledon to announce him as part of the team...Maybe another one does better...And if it were on clay, he would be the first player I would want in the team for sure!

I hate to say it, with Hewitt and Flip returning to play/form, this could turn out to be Belarus all over again (deja vu 2004 quarters).....

Puerta is the only with enough mental toughness right now to lead the charge - can he learn to play on grass in time?

What about Monaco? I hear he's good friends with Nadal, maybe something will rub off?

But there has not been an official announcement of Argentina's team, right? Cause all I've read and heard were speculations......

I agree on Calleri, but as I said on the other thread, he is only just returning from long-term injury by playing a few claycourt challengers - he has pulled out of Wimbledon, and no way would he be match fit enough to compete to the highest level on grass in Australia. It's a shame for him and the Team.

The official team was Willy, David, Coria and Mariano. I don't think Luli knows what to do now! If Willy is fit to play he'll be in the team for sure!
If not, maybe he'll put David and Guille for singles, and there was a rumor which said that David and Puerta were gonna play doubles (I don't believe it!), so who knows!

God, I like Puerta, he's alright but... for God's sake he cannot play on grass!
I truly believe Monaco would do a better job there.

I already gave up on DC this year though, I guess we should try next year...
