Due to an elbow injury...

Poor Willy, his bad luck never ends... and Argentina's Davis injury streak neither, without him, no chance against Australia...

How will they change the draw? That 3rd quarter was already the weekest, by far. Perhaps they'll move the seeds around a bit since it's still a few days before the tournament begins... ?

Get better soon, Willy.

Chucho just said that he's very confident for Wimbledon and that he's been talking to Mancini, and even if he's not gonna be in the team, he feels like he's part of it just the same.

I think moving the seeds around now would be really unfair. They just need to replace him with the 33rd seed and put a LL in that person's spot.

#33 seed, I think it's Olli will replace Cañas and LL Goldstein gets Olli's place.

There's a LL replacing him already...

Yes - that's what they're doing. I'm more worried about the rumour I heard that Willy has a wrist injury as well  as it was a wrist injury that put him out of the circuit for the best part of a year in 2003. As for DC - well Calleri is slowly recovering and tentatively starting to play again in a few challengers, but he isn't playing Wimbledon so I doubt he would feel confdent for DC on grass when he hasn't played in an ATP tourney since April - and none on grass.

So sad that Willy can´t play

I also hope he will recover very soon, so that he can be back for the Davis Cup!

That is really sad. I love watching play Cañas on grass. And ofcourse it is as cruel a blow as could happen to Argentina. With Willy and David I think they really did have a chance to beat Australia. I hope he gets better soon. He is one of the classiest players in tennis.

Thank to Canas. Break for Haas and makes draw for Haas more easy.
Did not like Canas near Haas. Bad record from past against Canas.

Canas out of Wimbledon?!! Henman is breathing a sigh of relief.

Good move for him, feel bad though.

But really, he's mainly a clay courter taking up seeds.

He really can do better in other events in the hard court season.

Probably one of the better clay court specialists on grass.

Good luck in his recovery.

Clay isn't even his best surface, just continue on with the stereotype.

No maybe not but at least he's good on it.

And still good on grass and hardcourt.

Not ready to make his move and wasn't a threat at Wimby, so glad that he's out.

So Federer is good on clay, doesn't mean it's his best surface.

What's your point, you are happy someone is injured, always thought you were one classy guy and that proves it.

Top of the class for you.

No, I'm not happy.

Where did I show a smiley.

You're making this more than it is.

Canas is out, and I'm glad he's not a threat for Pim.

Glad is someone out of a tournament through an injury is not the same as being glad for someone losing a match. I don't care about a lot of players, but I don't want them injured.

Yes, Cañas is a claycourter and mentioning someone being out and glad about it, still top of the class.

So you'd rather see him out because he's gonna beat your player right?

C'mon, he's just taking up space and his game isn't suited for grass.

Wasn't going anywhere from the drop of the draw.

You're smart.

You know Trivia.

Throw in your trivia Puerta lost in straight sets and tell me you'd rather see a winner than a goat losing in round one.

You're taking space and wasting oxygen, but I put up with you.

Back to the subject Cañas has done fairly well on grass, but this doesn't mean he is going to win it.

Incorrect if he is injured and can't play bad luck for him and that would be the same for Roddick, doesn't mean I'd be glad about it.

Do I care whether Puerta lost? Why would I? It's not important.

Your rubbish tonight isn't as good as some of your other stuff.

I agree. I thought he could have been very dangerous at W. this year, sorry to see him out and I hope whatever this injury is, he heals up soon.

Get well soon Willy, your country needs you!
With Hewitt and Scud on form, Argentina need Willy to beat the Aussies.
Willy's a great player to watch and is always underestimated by the media.
