Wimby Draw: Who do you most want Fed to play in Final?

Lets see umm

Lots of possibilities

I hope it will be somebody other than Roddick. Some surprise will be good. Perhaps Gasquet?

Roddick is the only one of that bunch that has a hope of making it to the final

and I want the best to get through, so Roddick is my pick

Gasquet would be wonderful, but he doesn't stand a realistic chance to go that far, so I voted for Duckster - you've got to beat the best to win Wimby (unless you're Hewitt...).

Well potential stumbling blocks for Roddick:

Karlovic (2nd Rd), Mallise (4th), Henman (QF) (!) , NALB/HAAS/GASQUET in SF

All have the game to beat Roddick.

Henman-Roddick winner will be the finalist in the bottom half.

I see Nalbandian playing in the finall... Dreaming is not bad, isn't it?

the only other realistic possiblities are the big serving Max Mirnyi, Thomas Johanson and maybe even Rafa (but he has no grass court form)

Maybe even Ljubicic if he serves well but his form has completely tanked and he is in miserable form

I wish Ancic was not in Fed's half of the draw... That would have been a great final! Too bad... :awww:

Roddick, even though I like Gasquet and Henman better out of that list.

Roddick has a better chance of making the finals than Federer does, Andy's draw is much easier than Feds.

I chose Roddick because... I'm a spiteful bitch. Espescially at this time of night, and when people have been pissing me off

However. It would be interesting if the opponent gave him a walkover or was so out of line he was disqualified. Hmm... One wonders whether the Roger antifans would whinge some more, or have nothing much to say. (Has anything like that ever happened before? You guys know I liked tennis only from 2000, and I'm really not interested in history. I know. It's shocking.)

i'd like it to be Henman.
the Brits really like Roger , but this matchup could pose some interesting divided loyalties

they met only once before at W, right after Roger defeated pete

i disagree
They are about equal

roddick is likely to have to contend with one big-server-with-little-else (karlovic) as does Roger (jojo)
thereafter roddick has to take out a real contender (Henman) as does Roger (hewitt or safin or mancic)

the fact that hewitt, safin, mancic, are all in Roger's half means nothing. they are all drawn in a quarter away from Roger's

Andy Roddick, I think Andy can beat Roger this year. Roger's form has not been as good as last year, and Andy's game has changed alot.

If John McEnroe played with a good draw he'd win 2 or 3 rounds.

and has roddick's form been as good as last year? he was drawn to a third set against stepanek and beck in queens, not exactly the highest quality grass playes (EDIT: and two breakers against karlovic)

andy's game may have changed, but it is not clear as yet anyway that it has improved

Roddick won 7-6 7-6 against Ivo.

Yeah, the gap between them has shrunk so much that more than 400 race points separate them and we're only halfway through the year.

Since I'm biased, I would love to see Roger lose to Johansson and not make the final :p

But for the sake of the poll, it would be very interesting to see how he would do against Karlovic's serve.

Ivo is faced with a heavy task in Roddick for round 2.

I voted 'Other', but of the ones on this list there's no question his rivalry with Roddick is far from finished and another go-round at Wimbledon with Roddick's improved 150mph serve is something I wish to behold.

.

he managed very well at Wimbledon last year

roddick is the seeded player. wouldn't you say roddick is faced with the heavy task of facing ivo in the second round? karlovic has nothing to lose

They are both faced with huge tasks. No question, these are among the hottest grass court players going into the surface's grand slam.

Karlovic made it to round of 16 last year and has 30 points to defend, so there is an incentive for Karlovic to avoid dropping in the rankings.

yeah
although i think the points issue will not be on his mind as much as simply beating his opponent to go deep
this is a tough one to call
ivo has now played roddick, and also played enough grass to be in form
LOOKIN FOR AN UPSET HERE!

Wow, lucky him, otherwise he would probably not feel motivated to try and win the match.

hee hee... 'swhat i said above too
i think players take the points issue as incidental. i mean, the points will come if you win anyway
karlovic has a real shot here! Go Ivo!

It should be a very close match and a minimum of two tiebreaks wouldn't surprise me.

Nalbandian.

Never played with Federer on grass before, they have a great rivalry behind them.

Too bad Nalbandian doesn't seem to be in-from at the moment. Or maby he will be?

If Fed does make it to the final  , I would like Gasquet to be his opponent. Realistically, it will be Roddick because Roddick seems really fired up for the tournament.
