Roddick vs Karlovic (probable) 2nd rnd WimbledonDeivid23 06-16-2005, 10:02 AM Bring on your pillows  Björki 06-16-2005, 10:12 AM Good luck to Andy :bounce: David Kenzie 06-16-2005, 10:13 AM That's a bad draw for both of them ! J. Corwin 06-16-2005, 10:15 AM Andy will be fine. ;) alexito 06-16-2005, 10:33 AM of course, never federer, federer always easy draw. foul_dwimmerlaik 06-16-2005, 10:53 AM Bye Ivo. Auscon 06-16-2005, 10:55 AM Tough one for both guys Andy will get through though, most likely in straights Billy Moonshine 06-16-2005, 10:58 AM Tough for Andy, but a great early test and if he passes he will have beaten one of the dangerous floaters. A great confidence boost. croat123 06-16-2005, 12:02 PM i'm saving my pillow for nadal vs. spadea :) Julio1974 06-16-2005, 12:25 PM This is good news... Karlovic out of Wimbledom in 2nd round. croat123 06-16-2005, 12:28 PM a round further than anyone you're cheering for will get :) Julio1974 06-16-2005, 12:31 PM a round further than anyone you're cheering for will get :) I'm sure Cañas and Nalbandian will get much further than that ... Don't forget that David already played the final here !!!! croat123 06-16-2005, 12:37 PM and karlovic beat the defending champion a year later Deivid23 06-16-2005, 12:46 PM Please wake me up when Roddick wins this boring game Julio1974 06-16-2005, 12:48 PM and karlovic beat the defending champion a year later And then he lost in third round. He did not even reach the second week.. onewoman74 06-16-2005, 12:57 PM I think Ivo might get through, but Andy is determined to get to the finals...its' who wants it more oneandonlyhsn 06-16-2005, 02:02 PM Why bother letting play the entire match  , just let them go straight to TB. The only good thing about this match is Ivo can pull an upset Bilbo 06-16-2005, 02:02 PM Perfect matchup for me as I love to see big serves on grass. Grass is all about serve&volley so this matchup fits great to it. Fumus 06-16-2005, 02:10 PM Yea that sucks. Roger got all the hard guys in his half. mitalidas 06-16-2005, 02:15 PM Yea that sucks. Roger got all the hard guys in his half. but he doesn't have to play all of them -- he plays only ONE of hewitt/safin/ancic. this draw should be viewed for Roger as a really good one I dont even see JoJo (aka pimpim)/gonzo/grudeski as a difficult hurdle roger's path to the final is a very doable one, and I am so glad for it! mangoes 06-16-2005, 02:16 PM That's a tough second round for either player. Skyward 06-16-2005, 02:22 PM but he doesn't have to play all of them -- he plays only ONE of hewitt/safin/ancic. But Roddick doesn't have to play any of them. I said it a couple of days ago that they'd land PimPim in the upper part and Grosjean in the bottom. It wasn't that hard to predict. Rogiman 06-16-2005, 02:23 PM JoJo (aka pimpim) BoreBore mitalidas 06-16-2005, 02:25 PM But Roddick doesn't have to play any of them. I said it a couple of days ago that they'd land PimPim in the upper part and Grosjean in the bottom. It wasn't that hard to predict. i dont think roddick's draw is any easier or harder than Roger's roddick will likely have to play both karlovic and henman and the match with ljubo should not be taken for granted either overall, among realistic contenders, this draw really sucks for Marat, then lleyton, then possibly henman but Roger's path to the final is not a difficult one. there will likely be one test (Jojo/pimpim/borebore) and one challenge (hewitt/safin/mancic) Skyward 06-16-2005, 02:34 PM i dont think roddick's draw is any easier or harder than Roger's roddick will likely have to play both karlovic and henman and the match with ljubo should not be taken for granted either Roddick's semi will be easier if he goes that far. Henman will find his way to lose, and Ljubicic is out of form. bad gambler 06-16-2005, 03:19 PM lol, hewitt must be having a little chuckle at the moment - he just dodged a bullet there the seeding committee and the aussie must be in cahoots to have made him no 3 :p mitalidas 06-16-2005, 03:34 PM lol, hewitt must be having a little chuckle at the moment - he just dodged a bullet there the seeding committee and the aussie must be in cahoots to have made him no 3 :p sorta he has given up one poison for another having to face mancic/safin and then Fed is not clear cut preferred treatment World Beater 06-16-2005, 03:45 PM dont worry deivid...this will be over in hurry..regardless of who wins uNIVERSE mAN 06-16-2005, 03:51 PM of course, never federer, federer always easy draw. WTF you on about? Fed faced Karlovic and Roddick last year you idiot! Deboogle!. 06-16-2005, 03:53 PM lol, hewitt must be having a little chuckle at the moment - he just dodged a bullet there the seeding committee and the aussie must be in cahoots to have made him no 3 :pI dunno, if I were playing, I'd rather have Andy's draw than Lleyton's overall. Andy just beat Ivo and has the confidence from that, and Ivo has played so much tennis by this point, he could be tired as he's not in the best physical shape I've ever seen. RogiFan88 06-16-2005, 04:18 PM if Pandy can beat Ivo on grass the first time they met, no reason why he can't do it again... unless Ivo has learned sth fr that final at Queens AND has an advantage in best-of-5... s be interesting... sort of... not the actual tennis but the matchup! ;) mitalidas 06-16-2005, 04:19 PM Funny  just last night the roddick supporters suggested that drawing karlovic would be a bad draw What if Andy gets Karlovic in the first round tomorrow. Following your logic, suddenly it'll be a good thing that Hewitt is seeded 3 and not 2. . now its all about the confidence drawn from taking Ivo out in two TB's (which of course came on the heels of the immense confidence drawn from the two three-setters against grass court specialists beck and stepanek) :wavey: Andy just beat Ivo and has the confidence from that, and Ivo has played so much tennis by this point, he could be tired as he's not in the best physical shape I've ever seen. NATAS81 06-16-2005, 04:24 PM How many threads are about this? Karlovic vs Roddick is a very big match. It will warrant a number of TBs. Enough said. Karlovic has 30 points to defend. He must come out strong and play hard. The grass season is his best season, and this is the last tourney for now. He will play if not as good as, better than Stella Artois Roddick meanwhile is possessed with the fastest serve, so great close lines calls. NATAS81 06-16-2005, 04:24 PM now its all about the confidence drawn from taking Ivo out in two TB's (which of course came on the heels of the immense confidence drawn from the two three-setters against grass court specialists beck and stepanek) :wavey: Stealing my material now, eh? 2 Tbs. mitalidas 06-16-2005, 04:45 PM Stealing my material now, eh? 2 Tbs. nope, on the contrary you think (or you said) that this is going to be a tough match for karlovic I am disagreeing with the idea that roddick gets confidence from the two TBs against karlovic in queens NATAS81 06-16-2005, 06:29 PM nope, on the contrary you think (or you said) that this is going to be a tough match for karlovic I am disagreeing with the idea that roddick gets confidence from the two TBs against karlovic in queens How is Karlovic without confidence taking the #2 seeded player to 2 tiebreaks? Something he didn't even do today against Rochus in 2 sets, it went 3. Rochus broke him to win a set 6-3, Roddick didn't. I think Roddick has more to worry about. NYCtennisfan 06-16-2005, 06:35 PM Please wake me up when Roddick wins this boring game Simple: just don't watch it:) I really like matchups like these especially when they go beyond 3 sets. Things get relaly tight as there is no room for mistakes. A careless volley here, a DF there and all of a sudden, someoen is in trouble. Always tense and fast moving. Bring it on! BTW, I expect Roddick to win in 3 TB's or win 3 out of 4 TB's. He made me a lot of vcahs last time these two palyed:) NATAS81 06-16-2005, 06:38 PM Simple: just don't watch it:) I really like matchups like these especially when they go beyond 3 sets. It produces alot of games where more things can happen. Racquet breaking, racquet tossing, crowd noise, you name it. Just don't watch if you don't like MORE ACTION! I like buildings on fire, and I like my spot of tea with tiebreakers! mitalidas 06-16-2005, 06:58 PM How is Karlovic without confidence taking the #2 seeded player to 2 tiebreaks? . Huh? i dont think you're reading what's Ive written. I am saying that i dont think that roddick should draw so much confidence from beating karlovic in 2 TBs I have not commented at all on whether karlovic has drawn any confidence or not from his two TBs with roddick --where are you reading that I wrote that?? I think Roddick has more to worry about. this I agree NYCtennisfan 06-16-2005, 08:04 PM NATAS81, I love the fact that there is so little room for error in this type of tennis. Not all matches are like this on grass nowadays, but you still have some and Roddick/Ivo will be one of them. This is what made Sampras excel so much here. One little mistake and you were done against him. You had to play excellent tennis all the way through just to have a shot at him. No time for mental lapses. I believe that Federer concentrates more on the grass than on other surfaces as he really cuts down on his own metal lapses. croat123 06-16-2005, 08:06 PM all i know is that ivo can't hit as many dfs as he did today Skyward 06-16-2005, 08:23 PM Karlovic can't hurt Roddick on his serve. All Andy has to do is to take a couple of points on tbs. Walking around for about 2 hours is not going to take a lot out of Roddick physically/mentally. Denise 06-16-2005, 08:46 PM GOOOOO Karlovic! :p tennisguru 06-17-2005, 02:41 AM All Ivo need to beat Andy is few bad serve games from Andy. I dont see Andy breaking Big Ivo's serve. Then tie breakers are lotteries........they can go either way... I feel bad for Ivo.....he would have made to the deep , but mostly he will be ousted by Andy in 4 sets.
