LaPerm cats are a recognized breed of cat. The LaPerm cat's fur is curly (hence the name "perm"), with the tightest curls being on the belly, throat and base of the ears. La Perms come in many colors and patterns. LaPerm cats generally have a very affectionate personality.

Hi people! :wavey:

I've just returned from the South of France, the Cévennes/Aveyron/Hérault/Gard area, where I did a bit of birdwatching along the river Gardon, and here are some pictures of some of the birds I saw over there (not made by me, but just to give you an idea):

European Bee-eater (Merops apiaster)

http://www.safaristart.nl/fotos/roller2.jpg
The African 'scharrelaar' (Coracias caudata)

The common Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis)

http://members.home.nl/gmveld/wielewaal.jpg
The 'wielewaal' (Oriolus oriolus) - didn't actually SEE this one, but heard them a lot, their singing is unmistakable

The 'hop' (Upupa epops)

http://www.liv.ac.uk/~sdb/Safari-2005/Images/1292-black-kite.jpg
Black Kite (Milvus migrans) - TONS of them! :D

Red Kite (Milvus milvus) - my all-time fav bird of prey :worship:

Short toed Eagle (Circaetus gallicus) - nice big birdie, feeds on reptiles, of which there are plenty in the Mediterranian area...

to finish off this post, one nice big reptile I spotted:

http://www.les-jardins-de-line.com/imgs/Foto-4-Smaragdhagedis.jpg
We call it the 'smaragdhagedis' (Lacerta bilineata)- smaragd meaning 'emerald', and you can see where it gets its name from. WOW what a gorgeous creature. Quite big too, some 40 cm in total. :D

Enough biology for now, but I've seen more... ;)

^^ That's a cockatoo, one of the loveliest birds around...!

You know these lovely fellows might well live up to 80 years of age, and keep to their owner all the time?
