what type of poll is this?

what type of poll is this?

I suppose it's like a betting poll without any money involved. In other words who will get the bad luck to draw Karlovic early?

Actually I guess the top guys will get buys into the first round. So I should have said who will draw Karlovic in the 2nd round.

Why will they get byes?

I don't want him anyone near Lleyton. Only when Ivo is in the other half of the draw will I feel Lleyton is safe :p

Why will they get byes?

I see last year there were no byes in the first round of Wimby....so I was wrong there. Last year Karlovic d. Srichaphan 1st round; Elseneer 2nd round; F. Lopez 3rd round; and then he was defeated by Federer in the 4th round.

If he wins this week, they should seed the guy.

lol @ byes in grandslams

Seriously, the safe bet is on "other". 4 men versus a field of 124 others? Clearly "others" is far more probable.

I say that Ginepri will draw Ivo Karlovic.

Oh, I would also like to state for the record that I am rooting for Ivo to go as far as possible this year

I say that Ginepri will draw Ivo Karlovic.

That would make me clap me hands in glee. At times I feel out of of place on these forums because I like a lot of players and really don't have a dislike of many players at all.

But Ginepri (a.k.a. IQ of rock moss) is about the only player that I can not abide. So I would love for him to play Karlovic in the first round. Safe guard from players that I like.

I'd love to see him kick hewitt's ass again, or maybe nadal's... Fed or Andy will beat Ivo, and I want Karlovic to still be in the second week

No byes in GS. :p

Hardly any byes in men's tennis at all, in fact. Only for 4 TMS tournaments that don't have draws of 2^x.

Next poll:
Will this die land 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6?

Probably David  because he has had so much bad luck with illness, injuries and family problems lately - he is in a very frail emotional state and needs a good run at Wimby to regain some confidence - but somehow bad luck seems to breed more bad luck  And if he escapes the Karlovic fate - then I think Marat or JCF could draw the short straw

Karlovic is really a T32 grass player.

Since he won't be seeded 124-128, I don't see the purpose of this poll.

I wanted to post exactly the same, but you arrived first... Howver, I 'm a bit more optimistic. Don't forget that David has never dissapointed his fans when it comes to GS.... In a good day, he can beat any player on grass, but for Federer.

Ljubicic, Ancic, or Karol Beck. Would be interesting to see someone as tenacious as Nadal take him on.

Please goddess, not Robby. He has a boatload of points to defend, and not James either, he's been doing so well lately.

Er, the the point is which seeded player will get a tough draw and obviously seeds can't play "Roger or andy or lleyton".

i'm hoping he draws hewitt, federer or henman. i'd be thrilled if any of them lose early. but i doubt federer would have too many problems.

It´s all about Croatian hype ;) . Now Karlovic looks like new Sampras

Well he is hyped for good reason. He should have lost today but his serve got him through either through aces alone or easy put-aways. After the first set his groundies were put to shame. He can win Wimbledon with a little luck...it would be a pity. He is a really nice guy and makes the most of his talent but he really hasn't got anything without his serve.

Well he is hyped for good reason.

Which reason? A final in Queens is enough?

Yeah, I´ve seen those terrific groundies at 2 meters from me several times.

He can win Wimbledon with a little luck...it would be a pity.

WHAT???? Not in 100 years.

He is a really nice guy and makes the most of his talent but he really hasn't got anything without his serve.

Agree here

Blimey Deivid - you've been busy!!

1. Hyped - his serve alone can get him through matches on grass (we've seen) and on hardcourts (watch him after Wimbledon). He will get some good results and finish the year top 60 I reckon. He is always dangerous at a Slam and has chances to go quite far at Aus, Wimby and US. Ljubo etc are useless to be fair.

2. His groundies were good in the first set although Ljubo didn't really turn up! :o He set up some good put aways at the net though - you have to give him credit for that at least.

3. What's to say he can't win the title? He got to R4 last year and was unfortunate to bump into Henman. Roddick and Federer are the last 2 players to beat him on grass...if he doesn't meet them then he could do it. He can, and has beaten Hewitt, he can beat Henman etc. I agree it is unl;ikely as the stage is set for Federer v Roddick again ( ) but it is possible if one or both gets shocked relatively early. It is not unheard of.

it's not hype, he's just good on grass.

last year: SF in Surbition, 3rd round Queens, 4rth round Wimbledon (and there were definately some players in the round of 16 he would have beaten)

this year: F in Surbition, F in Queens (beating two grandslam champions), at least QF in Nottingham

I would like for someone in the top 8 to draw him though....preferably Hewitt, Fed, Henman.... maybe he could cause another upset:)
