Big-serving Australian left-hander Chris Guccione blasted 50 aces - including 32 in the final set - to advance to the second round of Wimbledon qualifying on Monday.

Guccione defeated Frenchman Olivier Patience 4-6, 7-6(3), 23-21.

Guccione on eight occasions served three aces in the same game and in the second set he served four aces in one game. He was broken twice in the match; the first time at 4-5 in the first set when Patience broke to clinch the set.

Guccione claimed his first break of the match in the first game of the third set but then was broken back when he served for the match at 5-4. Fittingly, Guccione closed out the match in the 44th game of the final set with his 50th ace of the match.

Patience served 14 aces of his own during the match.

50 aces wow impressive stuff........... and that's just 29 short of the number of runs the aussies managed to total in yesterday's 20/20 cricket match against england.

All it takes is a break and Roger loses.

Nadal clearly is tougher to beat on clay.
