I wish Gerry Open had stats so I could see how many aces Pim/Safin racked up.

They seem to make a great team, which is kind of odd.

You would think their similar gameplay styles would make it easy for the opponent to key in on.

A second tournament double after Vienna 03, correct? That was also won with Allegro. I hope this gives them more confidence and match practice for DC duties in the future, but what is it with Federer and second set tiebreaks, eh?

he came to Halle, he saw.. he conquered.
and gave Marat a few tie breaks today to at least let him think he had a chance

I don't think so.

Most are Federer's bitch so that doesn't carry alot of merit.

Yep, you are correct, Sjengst!

Nah... Rogi just wants to give the paying public their money's worth [right, bebop?]! ;)

Safin is not Fed's bitch.
This entire tour is made up of Fed's bitches except for select few who have winning record against him.
And as long as one defeats Rog in a super important match such as AO semis, the player gets an exemption!

Fed does the single-double sweep for the 2nd time in his career.

One interesting note.

Safin has 1 career doubles title, and his partner was none other than Fed.

I was just thinking the same. During the match, I just knew he was going to lose it.

Good to see that all four guys respected the doubles play and that they properly played this and not giving walkovers due to any reasons because they have to play next week, because they want to concentrate on singles, because they are exhausted from the singles final etc....

Did you watch the match? The could have gone both ways. Marat wasn't bitched at all. He played really good and could have win.
Everybody knows that on his good day Marat is at least as good as Rogi...

He won that second set breaker with Robin thank goodness otherwise all this history today would be lost. :)

And not forgetting the second set breaker against Haas yesterday, of course. ;) OK, so perhaps that should be: "Federer - why the mixed record in tiebreaks?"

While he could (have) afford(ed) some other lost 2nd set tiebreaks (such as in this match or against Haas), the one against Söderling certainly was the most important the he won because he was a set down. These are really the situations when you gladly take a double fault at a tiebreak score of 6-6.

I highly doubt that anything is wrong with Marat's knee. I'm sure he will be fine at Wimbledon.
