that was a fun match :p
goran cruised on serve all match until 8*-7 when he was up 30-0, hit a df, popped up too volleys and was down bp and second serve. then he hit an amazing volley to save bp and then two big serves to win it. lot's of fun.

in the post-match interview, they asked goran if he remembered the wimbledon final in 2001 and he said that he remembers every point, he just doesn't remember what he was doing :haha:

both predict federer will win wimbledon

Congrats Goran for upping my vCash total by $130.

On the tennis side of this match, Ivanisevic clearly was the favorite.

You have to think he let JMac win a few points and keep it close.

Yes I'm pretty sure he did too, but then that's the whole point of exhibitions like that - give the crowd their money's worth and make it as close as possible - I was actually surprised it didn't go into the tie-break.

Gotta love Goran and props to JMAC who can still play a little even though he is 46 years old.

BTW, 2 questions:

1. Anyone remember JMac in his heydey? Were you a fan or not?
2. Anyone see JMac tapes and become a fan/hater as a result?

you have to say though- McEnroe is pretty fit for his age.

I remember before his heyday. I was definitely a fan - am partial to S&V, and I didn't like Jimmy or Ivan.

I remember JMAC in his heyday and I was sort of a fan. I was a fan of his prodigious talents but not of the bratty attitude. This guy could be and was at times the king of all assholes. But goodness that S&V game with what was then known as a big serve. He had the greatest hands of any player ever I have ever seen.

Tennisace, I also did not like Connors that much but I did like Ivan.

I remember McEnroe in his heyday and I was never much of a fan - I am not a serve and volley fan and, like NYCtennisfan said - he was far too "brattish" for me. I loathed Connors too  for his attitude, though I always had a soft spot for Lendl. Vilas was my hero of that kind of era - and then Thomas Muster - still love them both today.

Wow. Not bad for a 46 year old! Great players, great matchup, great result.

i think one could argue that men's tennis is slightly more demanding physically.

Navratilova struggles in singles anyway.

I have seen some of JMAC's senior matches and his hands are still the same and he does some beautiful volleying, better than almost the entire ATP Tour right now.
