Federer def. Safin 6-4 6-7(6) 6-4 for third consecutive title in Halle

Congrats Federer! Well done for him and he found ways to his matches despite I think he is not as dominating as last year at that time, not only because the scorelines have been closer, but also because he showed a few uncommon mistakes that he normally hardly does. But of course great stuff of him to find any ways to win these matches.

A very good week for Safin, too. He certainly was a good finalist and pushed Federer to three sets. But also for him, lots of room for improvements, I wished he stayed unbroken in the third set (if he doesn't :retard: in this game in that he was broken missing two easy shots) and then he certainly would have been capable to win another shoot-out in the third set. But good to see that he got his best result on grass! :yeah:

I agree. Seems like Safin had low expectations of himself on grass and as a result played so well in this tournament. He should have low expectations of himself in every tournament and we could have the makings of a great rivalry. He has the game to test Federer every time they play.

Anyway, a good win for Roger!!! :worship:

It is misspelled "steak" instead of "streak". In the US, steak is a method of preparing meat.

It is funny how nobody at the ATP site noticed it. :)

The best match HE played personally?

Or the closest match?

The most adernaline-pumping match, etc?

I wonder, because the noose is clearly tightening on Federer's grass play.

Everyone is getting closer to his level.

2 3-setters already.

I would so loved to have seen this match :(

I hope this match gives Marat a bit more belief on grass. If he comes to Wimbledon and plays this well, I don't see how he can't do well.

Despite what marat says of his skills on grass. He is not that bad on grass.

He has a good serve, return and decent volleys. Federer played a deciding set.

The world will end!!!

Not sure about the "adrenaline-pumping", I don't get to see the match, but the score's very close. Marat certainly gained some confidence going to Wimbledon this year. :)

I'm sure the confidence was already sky-high after the AO semi-final.

I couldn't believe the odds were sooo backed against Marat, seeing how he gets up for the big matches anyway.

Not necessarily at Wimbledon.

A much better chance at AO and USO though, where he defeated Roddick.

Roddick beat Federer, too.

He's the clear cut favorite in most of his matches.

He just tanks various ones.

That is unexplainable.

I was correct today saying Federer in three despite Marat's uncontrolable outbursts.
