Is Ancic the mentally weakest player in the top50?

he's 21, used to be the number 1 junior in the world but never won anything above a G1 event. he's been a pro for 5 years now and has 0 titles and only 2 finals. he never gets broken to love, he just gets broken when he's up 30-0 or 40-0. he couldn't win a tiebreak if his life depended on hit against a decent opponent. the moment his draw opens up he loses to a player he should be able to beat. is he the mentally weakest player on tour?

Croat, I feel so sorry for Mario. Looks like he really needs some psychological help.
But he's not the only 'choker' on tour so...

I would've said Mardy Fish, but he won't be in the top 50 after this week...

It's difficult to quantify something like this.

I support him, but I recognize that he is mentally weak.

I see your point. Gaudio and Coria are also disappointing at times.

Looking at the names of the players that are mentioned, I think this discussion will be much easier if we pick players that are mentally STRONG.

Federer, Hewitt, Nadal, and who else? Maybe Gasquet given how well he has been playing lately and beat Ancic today.

Okay then. No Gasquet. He is mentally weak as well.
So basically apart from the top 3 ranked players in the world right now, everyone deserves to be mentioned in this thread at one point or another, I think.

Pfff...Berdych is very weak mentally.

Ancic is just one-dimensional that is all. Behind the serve there isn't an awful lot of talent. Good returners (and there are several lower ranked ones who one would overlook in a draw) have a chance against him.

haha, damn you're so wrong ;)
first, mario doesnt have that great serve at all.
second, he's volley is on top of the tour with only few better then him
third, he can play from the base line also, his forehand's or backhand's aren't his weaknes at all, neither are reason that he didnt do much on clay. reason for that could be found in his (bad) movement and as someone allready mentioned - bad "mentall condition" :)

that's true. mario doesn't have a big serve at all. and he can go through matches where he doesn't even get a lot of first serves in. his backhand is very good, his forehand can kill him when he gets tight

Safin is weaker.
