Did anyone watch the match? I'm shocked that Ancic got broken as many times as he did.

I don't think Ancic is a great player. He's probably taller than Gasquet but tall ppl aren't that fast and great enough. Anicic reminds me Ivanisevic, the battle between Ivanisevic vs Agassi in Wimbledon. Tall guy lost...

ancic is such a great player on grass!

If you followed NBA finals, posted baseball news, football news every day you'd slip up too.

No he is not....

Wimbledon semifinalists and Federer-conquerers generally do suck on grass.

Impressive win for Richard!

Well done Richie! I always believed in you. :) Hmmm, ok I thought that Mario would win this one.
This is some terrific news. Richie can play on grass, I'm delighted.

But as I didn't see the game, how to be sure that this result say more about Gasquet than it says about Mario at the moment.

I'm not at all surprised that Gasquet is doing very well on grass, and especially not since the Queens courts this year seems to be on the slow side.

This is what Gasquet said in an interview after his loss to Nadal at RG:

Do you like that surface?

RICHARD GASQUET: Yes, no problem. It's a good surface for me. I can serve, volley. I can play on grass very well, just as well as on clay. It's well adjusted to my game.

More proof that Gasquet>Nadal.

I think we should wait a few years before we say that Nadal has more game than Gasquet. Gasquet also said this in the same interview regarding comparing him to Nadal:

RICHARD GASQUET: Yes, we have the same age. I think he's much more mature than I am physically. I haven't worked so much on my physical shape. We are the same age and I feel like a junior player and he's like a senior player. He is there 100% physically, which is not my case. I am not ready for such a situation.

I'm no lover/hater of either player, but I think Gasquet has a more natural and complete game than Nadal. Nadal is winning with a physical game and a huge adrenalin kick, which is not the case with Gasquet. If you ask me about natural ability (talent), I would give my votes to Gasquet on every surface.

BTW, we get your point. Richard is overhyped and overrated, while Rafael doesn't get the props he deserves. There's no need to keep expounding it in every other Richard thread.

I was under the impression that he thought my comment needed motivation. I merely was pointing out that it didn't, that I said it because I felt like it. I didnt' miss anything.

However, you did if you think this was my point:

I don't have a problem with Gasquet, I enjoy to watch him play and think he has a fine game. If you want to know what my points are, feel free to ask for them... but please don't just make them up ;)

Oh. My appologies if your motivations are not the same as certain other Rafael fans. Same sacrastic posts, but different purposes...

OK then. So what IS your point?

BTW, I do know that you don't have a problem with him. You used to post in his thread after all... ;)

More proof that Gasquet>Nadal.
It's not a proof of anything...This Nadal's allusion has nothing to do here. They're not comparable because although they're the same age they've got such different games and styles of play, such different personalities, different social backgrounds, different nationalities, different approach to the game etc...etc...They're different in everything so they'll never be comparable... Let Richard learn and make progress alone and at his rythm, will you! And go cheer very talented boy wonder Nadal! Don't play the medias' game: there's no rivalry between them. The only true rivalry is the Nadal vs. Federer one...
