btw, rumour has it that he might not play next week either.

That's what I read, too, that he was going to go to London next Wednesday or so to get some practice in on grass at Wimbledon.

I don't know. To me, he looks extremely tired, helpless, and uninterested in those photos, and I don't blame him.
Making it to Halle was a good gesture, but he really needs to rest his body and mind.

You know, we are slowly recreating the Looney Tunes cast:

Andy Roddick = Daffy Duck
Roger Federer = Bugs Bunny
Rafael Nadal = Porky Pig
Andre Agassi = Elmer Fudd
Guillermo Coria = Peppi Le Pew (I know, weasels and skunks are not the same but still  )

And I think Marat would be a good candidate for Wyle E Coyote  (and his self-destructive side would be the Road Runner :tape: )

Since this defeat took place in Germany at the hands of a German player, I think it is only appropriate that this first recipe of pork will be a German recipe.

So today, we will learn how to make "Schwein Haxe" or Pork Shank:

Ingredients:

2 fresh pork shanks, about 3 to 4 pounds total
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
4 slices bacon, diced
1 large onion, peeled and sliced
1 (32-ounce) packaged refrigerated sauerkraut, rinsed and drained well.
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1 bay leaf
2 teaspoons Dijon-style mustard
2 tablespoons brown sugar
4 ounces beer, room temperature
Season shanks with salt and pepper, set aside.

Cooking instructions:

In large Dutch oven or pot sauté bacon to render fat, stir in onion and cook and stir until onion is tender but not brown; push to one side of pan. Add shanks and brown on all sides, about 15 minutes, turning occasionally.
Meanwhile, in large bowl stir together drained sauerkraut and remaining ingredients. Remove shanks, place sauerkraut mixture on bottom of pan, return shanks on top of kraut, drown shanks in beer until completely soaked. If shanks resist keep pounding and thinning them out until subdued. Once shanks have been properly beaten, cover and place in 350 degrees F. oven for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, until shanks are very tender.
Makes 4 servings.

FRENCH-STYLE GREEN BEANS WITH HAM AND
POTATOES

1/2 c. unsalted butter
2 lbs. smoked ham, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
6 sm. red potatoes, scrubbed with a vegetable brush
3 lbs. green beans, cut into 1 1/2 inch-long pieces
In a 2 1/2 quart saucepan, melt the butter over moderately high heat. Add ham and cook, stirring frequently, until lightly browned, about 10 minutes. Reduce heat to moderate, add the onions and stir until softened, about 5 minutes. Add 2 cups water, salt and pepper. Cut a band of skin from around each potato and add to the potatoes to saucepan. Cook until the potatoes are slightly softened, about 10 minutes. Add the beans and cook, covered, until beans and potatoes are tender, about 10 minutes. Do not over cook. Serves 6

Today we will learn how to make minced roasted pig butt. So here is a complete and thorough explanation of how Carlos sliced and diced Rafa's ass:

1. After losing the first set, Carlos decided to firmly grab Rafa's behind and simply held on, never letting go of it at any point.

2. Moya goes on the offensive- rips the ass in two, holding both cheeks tightly.

3. Places each ass cheek on a plate and gets ready to spice.

4. Applies the hot spices, igniting Rafa's tush on fire turning up the heat.

5. Minces the meat up and lets it simmer at 200 degrees for a good 2 hours

6. Adds some hooves with the butt meat.

7. Adds the final touch applying some KC bbq sauce.

Voila, folks. That is how you make minced pig butt. Enjoy! :lick: :yeah:

If you haven't seen Roger showing more passion since 03 then you are :cuckoo:. He shows plenty of passion, he just doesn't run to the baseline after the coin toss like a kid and fist pump the air after errors. What so he shouts at himself once in a while? That's not what I mean. I like players who are fighters, chase down every ball and stuff. Do you really think it is a good idea to chase down every ball? Take a look a Nadal's ankle injury that seemed to come up again after his Moya loss, don't you tihnk chasing down every ball and putting constant pressure on switching from leg to leg and ankle to ankle is smart. You might love that spirit but it isn't going to help insure a long career.

The man is simply a legend, not to mention the epitome of class. After winning the Australian Open, funny Roger went to his bag for his orologio\watch, as if to say "I may be needing this for the next few hours"

Conducting himself with such class and elegance, while the likes of Nadal behave like gli animali.

Statements like this are the reason you've been dignified as the most clueless here yet, totally without a clue describes you.

Great to see, obviously you have no idea how difficult this sport is and much more difficult than that is to achieve any level of consistent domination over a stretch of years and years.

That's exactly why so few have been able to do it, while Roger chases legends like Laver, Borg and Sampras, Nadal chases down each ball and seems to come up limp because he just can't properly construct a point the old fashioned way.

Get on with it already, my dear boy.

Sadly no, that was an absolute impossibility. There was a serious lack of technological advancement, thus legends like Laver were never able to truly showcase their talent level.

Great player, had a left arm the size of the leg muscle of most persons. Talk about a legend and playing the game the right way, better than moonballs and constant Vamos, save that garbage for a dirtball tourny in South America.

Rafa's game is developing, he's began to hit a few more winners. His serve is gradually improving (although admittedly still not great) but hopefully he'll get to the stage where he can get some cheap points off it.

Winners at net and at the baseline are still not that much. He mostly wins due to errors from his opponents but that his gane so be it, just don't call it more exciting than Roger hitting winner after winner.

Not trying to forecast the future or anything here, but find it highly unlikely (special emphasize being placed on unlikely) that Nadal will even have a career a decade from now judging from his style of play. A reasonable time frame for his career to end would probably be 23 or 24.

Then again, who knows ? Anyone could die tomorrow, Nadal or My Guy, so let's just stay in the present.

Roger Federer is mechnically perfect.

There is not a single flaw in his game.

Actually, was necessary for me to read those statements twice. It's so rarely that such remarks would be logical, but this seems to be the case.

Perfection bores you ? Paris and Rome bore you ? Does art and history bore you ? There's no comparison, wake up and smell il caffè.

What seems to be more relevant here is Roger losing, not Nadal actually winning the match. In Dubai, Set 1, Roger on his game, Nadal knocked down.

Set 2 and 3, sloppy Roger, Nadal there to take advantage. Keeping the ball in play.

Miami, Roger on game, smacked Nadal around in nearly half the time that it took Nadal to amass a 2 sets to 0 lead against Federer.

Keep things in perspective, only player thus far that's proven they can beat Roger at his best either has yet to be discovered or is somewhere sitting in his Mother's womb.

What so he shouts at himself once in a while? That's not what I mean. I like players who are fighters, chase down every ball and stuff. To be honest I don't particularly like Andy's game no, but I like him. I find him a lot more entertaining to watch than Federer despite Federer having a clearly more attractive game.

Chasing down every ball just means he's a grinder/counterpuncher like Hewitt and Nalbandian. I prefer to see an attacking player hit with finesse.

he can force errors by hitting amazing shots - have you even watched one of his matches without being completely biased behind your Federer-tinted glasses? Nadal doesn't have the same style as Federer but obviously Nadal is doing something right if he can win so much.

I guess I would be upset too, though, if my favorite player got thrashed by someone who has nothing notable about his game, is boring, blah blah blah. but I wouldn't start a thread about it because the fact that Federer, God of Tennis can lose to such a worthless tennis peon like Nadal is kind of embarrassing, isn't it? according to your logic, at least.

Do you think it's possible Nadal just tanked the match with Moya? He actually hasn't gotten hurt much point wise by losing because he picked up points in IW getting to the SF. He hadn't played IW in 2005 so all that was gain. Now he will lose some points at Miami but overall it balances out for the most part. Maybe this early loss helps Nadal get ready to defend MC ?
