Shotly all his investments failed, he will also have to sell his house, which he was building. Im happy and sad at the same time...

Thanks for the link. Now if you'd care to translate it for the selected few among us who dion't happen to speak Croat, that'd be even greater. No way is Goran so desperately in need of money that he has to return to the atp.

bad move.

he would be more likely to make much more money out of guest commentating or something than he will from coming back.

i don't really view goran as the type of the player who is likely to make a successful comeback. especially when you consider he only really had one good tournament in the last few years of his career.

It doesn't say anywhere in that article that he's gonna return to atp level tennis. I also found an article in Belgian newspaper too and it just says that he's in financial problems due to poor investments and corruption and that playing the tour of champions is helping him to keep his head above water. I would translate the both articles but I have an exam tomorrow, gotta hit the books.

Well he never really left did he? He played the senior tour...or is he coming back to the ATP tour???

Me likes Goran...

It doesnt say atp level tennis, it basically says he has conducted business with crooks and "when you swim with sharks, youre gonna get eaten."

Also mentions his property being over 2 1/2 years overdue, because he hasnt gone and visited split in over 6 months.

Basically hes lost everything but will continue to make an income from tennis.

I'm broke, says Ivanisevic

Zagreb - Former Wimbledon champion and tennis legend Goran Ivanisevic has admitted in an interview published on Wednesday that he is facing bankruptcy after all his investments in his native Croatia failed.

"Every thing in which I invested money in Croatia went wrong," Ivanisevic told the Globus weekly, adding that it was partly due to the corruption in the country.

In the past seven years, Ivanisevic, who won Wimbledon in 2001, has invested money in construction businesses in Croatia, but apparently lost a lot of money.

"I don't belong to any (political) party, I'm not in any lobby or pressure group. I have not bribed anyone, and in construction business in Croatia, you cannot even build a house for a dog if don't give bribes", the 34-year-old told Globus.

He also said the only way to avoid bankruptcy is to continue to play tennis on Senior tour.

Does he really expect anyone to believe he was innocent when he made the investments? Serves him right. He knew exactly who he was dealing with.

I didn't write the article, just presenting what I found on the net about it.

Well at least with Tiriac he would have been upfront about getting ripped off.

oh, dont believe anything you read :)
they're mentioning he's earned 20 milion during his carrear.. and they forgot that 20mil he earned is only from tournament prices. what about sponsors, about money tennis players got from organisers only to come to their tournament? he earned much more and he's earning right now also.. he maybe lost a lot's of money on bad investments but dont worry, he still have much more than any of us can imagine ;)
by the way he didnt say that he will be back on atp tour. it's just another lie. ;)

I know you did not write the article. But why did you apparently assume that because it was me I was only interested in taking a dig at you?

But moving back to Sweden and paying Swedish taxes can be dangerous to your financial health.

You probably still believe Sweden is a socialist country as well.

Taxes aren't that high actually, but myths are always more fun.

No - but they have been living together for a good few years now.

It's extremely hard to survive by construction business in Croatia by fair means only, so it's sad to hear about his financial troubles. Almost nothing but nepotism and curruption to get any good orders and projects.

I hope his shoulder will hold up a bit more for his little "comeback" and I would like to see him coming back on the Seniors Tour so that Stich who hopefully also plays a few events of that kind in future can continue to own him there :)

i'm sure he's not broke. i mean, the guy made over $20 million from tournament play and much more than that from sponsors. i think he just wants to start playing again

and no, he didn't marry that really hot nude model :hearts: but they have been living together for like 5 years now

I knew the Swedes were moving away from socialism and the highest taxes in the world, but I didn't know they had moved so fast.
Maybe that's why Edberg finally moved back to Sweden?

Years ago I started referring to Sweden as "the land of high taxes" rather than "the land of the midnight sun".

I'll have to get used to the old terminology again.

Anyway, good for them!
