Lleyton survives Malisse 6-7(3) 7-5 7-5

That was brutal

By all accounts Lleyton was all over the shop, and in that 3rd set Malisse was serving up a storm, but stuffed it in the crucial game

Glad this was still his first singles match back after 3 months, otherwise I'd be fairly worried....3/12 bp's

Hopefully he'll pick things up quickly at Queens :)

Up next will probably be Mirnyi  yikes

very good lleyton, so much month no play, good start. good job

Well done Lleyton for believing in this chance and of course he also has to thank Malisse that he let him back into this match. Then again, such matches are nothing special for Malisse, it happens to him quite often.

Good to see that Lleyton got his first win after this 3 months injury break.

A HUGE FIST PUMP and big CMON for Lleyton!!! :rocker2:

CMON Potato!
Gosh, Hewitt vs Malisse must be a funny match-up. It's understandable if he lost, but I'm glad he didn't  I actually want him to do very well there. Good luck!

Shouldn't take him too long to find form. I love when he lobs on grass, it's a work of art.

06-07-2005, 04:15 PM
I must admit, I was really worried there for a while. Still, well done Lleyton! I'm so relieved he won!

Nice to have Lleyton back. :D

06-07-2005, 04:16 PM
Welcome back, mate.
Both Hewitt and Federer back from the verge of falling in the first round....
So much for deciding the Wimbledon between them.

I wish I could see some highlights of his matches at the AO this year. He didn't win it, but some of those matches were like roller coasters of emotions for his fans. What was it Blake, then Nadal, then Nalbandian, then Andy. He's entertainment.

06-07-2005, 04:22 PM
If nothing else, he'll always have his fighting spirit.

06-07-2005, 04:25 PM
does look smaller than he was over the summer, but maybe thats just because he's not in the Muscle shirt anymore

06-07-2005, 04:59 PM
What a way to win his first comeback match! Great stuff, Lleyton! You kept your self-confidence during the rough patches, and that's no doubt what got you through to the win. :yeah:

HA! LLEYTON HEWITT IS BACK!!! Every true tennis fan should be happy with that.

Max didn't play that well today either but Lleyton will struggle to beat him if he plays like that...he was too hot and cold. However, i guess he does like a target.

great come back LLeyton after not playing for three months :clap2:

Malisse is a difficult player on grass (former wimbledon semifinalist)

06-07-2005, 05:17 PM
Nice, welcome back Lleyton! A win's a win, but pull it together soon, will ya? :p

Post-match interview.

Q. Lleyton, Did u guys were looking for that baby. What happened?

Hewitt. They were showing images of Kim at IW, doing the splits, u know, and
Becca told me .. "Do u want me to see that, Baby". I thought it was really  ,
you know. So i told her "show me, Baby" and she did the split so fine, and she was there, over the table, with her legs opne. Man, it was too much for me. I had to
take her from behind, while screamin "C'mon bitch" Do the splits now. Open it all for Daddy" :yeah:

wd Lleyt :D

bad gambler
06-07-2005, 08:33 PM
He played a pretty poor match overall, made some uncharacteristic UEs and in the main it was fair to say malisse dominated most baseline exchanges

Hewitt indeed scraped though, but a win is a win and no doubt he will be better for the run after having such a long layoff.

He has had problems with the Beast in the past so it should be an interesting match.
