Well... onto Stella and Halle it is then.

Gotta say byyyyye to clay, and all those lovely, excessive market swings when somebody loses their serve  The easy arbs will be much fewer and further between!

I may take this week off, and just watch and see how it goes. Still undecided.

I am glad that the grass court season is commencing.

It was always my favourite surface to play on, and I had some of my best wins on it.

I am looking for some value selections for tonights matches.

I will post my selections later in the day.

I actually knocked off a young guy by the name of Roger Federer in 2000 on grass. That was probably my best win on grass.

by the way Frommy, you never answered my question... when was the last time you played doubles? and who was it with?

Tonights Winners:

Carlsen over Lopez- My old mate Kenneth is past his best, but grass is his best surface and I expect him to be hard to beat here. Lopez has not been in great form, and I expect Carlsen will be too crafty here.

Novak over Haas- Novak has a bigger serve than Haas, and Haas is still recovering from injury. Novak beat him here last year and if Novak serves well he should be too good.

Canas over Verdasco- Tough match here. Canas could be tired from the French, but has done better in the past on the grass than Verdasco. Canas to win but a tough match to call.

Saulnier over O Rochus- Another tough match to call, but I give the slight edge to Saulnier. He has a bigger serve than Rochus and should get more free points.

Carlsen and Novak are my best bets though.

I played doubles with Chris Guccione earlier in the year. His serve was un-returnable.

What about you best win on hardcourts? Is it your 5 set victory over an injured Enqvist in the 2000 Australian Open first round?

well, everything is relative. to a mug like you, perhaps it is unreturnable, but Guillermo Canas obviously didn't find his serve unreturnable, when he flogged the Gooch in straight sets.

Which tournaments did you play at with the Gooch? and in what round did you lose at each of those tournaments?

Andreev over Mackin is safe

but I play: Malisse x Melzer x Andreev @2.60

What I find impressing is that Mr Fromberg defeated the king of Halle Nicolas Kiefer on grass. ;)

My friends and I saw Ulverstone's finest and the man who learnt his craft on the courts of New Town at the Burnie Challenger with the Gooch.
