Rain delay :( anyone know how bad, or what the forecast is for today?

According to Eurosport it is pretty bad  They reckon it will rain for at least another hour, then maybe a dry spell for a couple of hours before more very heavy rain and a high chance of thunderstorms. Such a shame - they have only had one evening of rain at RG in the last fortnight.

Yes, a good slow and heavy court.

What I dont know is whats better for Nadal, a heavy court to make it slower and having more time to retrieve Rogers shots or a sunnier day with higher bounces for his topspin

Well there can be counterarguments made for both sides on who the heavy court will suit. Better for Nadal to retrieve shots and harder for both to hit winners. Nadal will get still the bounce it's just a question whether it will be a trampoline effect.

jtipson
06-03-2005, 11:57 AM
If the delay is long, I wonder whether they will do what Wimbledon did last year: move one semi-final to the second showcourt (and I suppose it would have to be the Davydenko-Puerta match).

MariaV
06-03-2005, 11:57 AM
Oh, is it really THAT bad??
I hope they'll be able to play today. But if 1 match could be played today and the other one would be played tomorrow that would be bad.

From Eurosport : 13:18 The weather has certainly perked up in the last 30 minutes. We still have a fairly blustery wind, but the light is good and there's every chance we'll see play in the near future.

MariaV
06-03-2005, 11:59 AM
Simultaneous play at Chatrier and Lenglen would leave Davy-Puerta with less attention which also wouldn't be very nice.

I think they should go ahead and move one of the semifinals to another court, just in case. They need to get both matches played today... it would be totally unfair to two of the semifinalists if they had to play tomorrow and the others finished today.

okay-They have to start the first match now as planned. Federer and Nadal aren't expecting to play yet. They may begin discussions of "what if" nature based on what they know about the weather. It would be Roj and Raf who would be moved, if it looks like the only way to get their match in. Not sure really; should reduce the bounce on Nadal's shots, but it will also help him to get to more of Federer's. So six and two threes I guess.

Thanks to those who suggested the bet, Puerta to win 1st set... ;-)

Who cares if he's cute (Karol Beck fan)...it's enough if he wins - since when did it become a beauty contest? Uglyness doesn't show on the scoreboard.

PS: I don't think Mariano San is ugly, he is a classical Argentinian macho boy type who you trust to eat a lot of Argentinian beef to get protein for his left arm...
