So I had to vote for Sampras. As much as I like the likes of Roddick and Ivanisevic there is more deserving players that should be on the list.

Goodness knows what Chang, Ivanisevic, Muster, Hewitt and Roddick are doing on that list, and Courier and for the moment Federer are stretching it as well.

Roddick has 3 votes to McEnroe, Connors and Lendl's 1, that says it all.

Oh yeah, how could I forget Kafelnikov and Stich, they certainly don't deserve a place on a shortlist of greatest players ever. Half a dozen Slams needs to be a minimum requirement, start with Becker and Edberg and then go on from there to McEnroe, Wilander, Lendl, Agassi, Connors, Borg, Laver and Sampras. That's only ten players, a much tidier set of candidates.

yes but in all fairness they should not have put the Duck as an option. even he would probably agree that his name has no business being on a poll of the best player ever. same for Chang, Ljubo, and Hewitt. their inclusion makes this a rather silly poll.

the question is who is the 'best ever' not who is the 'most accomplished ever'. granted, some of the choices on there seem moronic. realize-- if we're going on accomplishments alone-- why even have a poll? everyone judges what's 'great' in a different way.

on the women's side it's usually a graf/navratilova/evert/seles affair (if we're only talking open era). monica doesn't really get in there on accomplishment per se, but how can anyone deny that she may be the best player ever given how she dominated the tour right in the middle of graf's career?

but i agree-- it's weird to see players with only 1 or 2 slams on that list.

How stupid, really! I don't get it why ivanisevic is there, or roddick, even hewitt(who i admire so much) they're still young (ok, not ivanisevic, but shh!) and they haven't done some HUGE things. Especially rodick who won a single gs. For federer its not the same thing, he's still in another category, hes just the kinng, but we say some stuff like that because we jsut SUPPOSE that he'll be the greatest player ever. I hope so, i din't like sampras, only a big serve, bleh! Voted for federer.

Well, I don't know if you consider Agassi part of that generation but he was around most of the time when Becker was, and he's won 2 more slams plus he's won all 4. Ivan Lendl would also be ahead of Becker in my books, 8 slams in a 5 year period.

Edberg and Wilander are closer to Becker, but I might give them an edge over him too.

well, i think lendl was from becker s generation..may be a bit earlier but yes of course he was a great player..but dont know..May be i chose Becker cuz of his early winning of wimbledon ..and may be cuz i was a little biased about him too...

Again ...iam a verrry big fan of Edberg..MAY BE more than Becker.the guy was a real gentleman..he had real talent..but i guess he was not very stable (i mean mental attitude)when it comes to big balls..

and also Agassi cant miss him..but i think he wasnot the same generation of Becker,,Edberg or Lendl..i d rather put him in a later area..with Sampras..ivansivec...etc,..
