Alot nicer to watch i agree ;) apart from safins double; i dont find them attractive to watch really (doubles). Thinking of all the nice one backhands to watch now; volandri, gaudio, mantilla, gasquet, guga, fed (cant think of two handers :D).

:yeah: Tommy Haas also deserves a mention in the single handers.

Double handers I'd say Safin has a nice one, also a couple of the Frenchies that do the jump double backhand is funny. Nalbandian's is also a nice shot.

But single handers are definitely more attractive, and more effective in general.

I don't fetishize the one-hander... but I do enjoy the variety that it tends to bring to the shot, and to one's game in general.

Coria's and Nadal's two-handed backhands aren't that bad either

i don't agree with that.....I think that both has their strength and weakness...

Single-handed has a better reach and more flexible, but it seems to me that generally people hitting single-handed bh is weaker in terms of power, and it generates less spin

Double-handed can generate more spin, more power, and more stable, but it has a narrower coverage and requires better footwork and hip rotation i think

I'm not surprised Roger is still fine-tuning his game. He's never satisfied with everything he's doing, which is probably why he is now so incredible. If he feels his backhand is being exploited, it makes sense to work to make it a real weapon. I never thought his backhand was bad before, but Gasquet was attacking it, I thought. :shrug:

I have always found that with the two handed backhand I have more control when playing down the line, but my friend plays the one handed backhand and he gets some of the more amazing angles on his shots!!

I'm normally a two-hander with a straight-arm takeback à la Hewitt but if I'm caught off-guard, e.g. was sitting on my heels and got caught by a dropper, I'll reach/lunge for it one-handed. Anything to get the ball back over the net.

Until I see Rog doing it consistently, it's just an anomaly.

Most likely he was just messing around, or maybe he was returning serve and got jammed so he had to use two hands. Plus I've never seen anyone ever do a jumping one handed backhand though some people have done jumping two handed backhands.

You're on the money there. It's nice to have a two-handed jump backhand for those absurdly high balls.

Federer should use two handed backhands to return 2nd serves while using his one hand backhand returning 1st serves (here he is the best in the game). He could also use 2 handed backhand when he is facing someone like gasquet who hits really hard backhand crosses.

I'm sure he would have the same problems makro and that's why he or anybody else will not change their bh this late in their career, especially a career as great as Federer's. I just don't see how it would be possible for anyone.
