Roger is playing double-handed backhand?auwkeung 05-19-2005, 04:02 PM http://www.rolandgarros.com/images/pics/large/b_v_federer_18_gal05.jpg  :p robinhood 05-19-2005, 04:05 PM NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Carito_90 05-19-2005, 04:07 PM Wow  Maybe he was just playing around? MisterQ 05-19-2005, 04:08 PM Ah, he's finally seen the light... tennischick 05-19-2005, 04:12 PM Roger can do it all :worship: tangerine_dream 05-19-2005, 04:13 PM He's probably just experiementing, looking for new weapons to amass. auwkeung 05-19-2005, 04:13 PM I read once in his web, actually he told fans that he still cannot hit a proper double-handed backhand properly will he switch to double hand when he plays in RG? :P haha~~~actually i think he's juz playing around.... MisterQ 05-19-2005, 04:15 PM Roger Seles :worship: Devotee 05-19-2005, 04:21 PM He's probably just experiementing, looking for new weapons to amass. Roger amassing more weapons is scary! joeb_uk 05-19-2005, 04:50 PM He is giving the other guys a chance  But saying that, it is clay! so he needs all the luck himself :D Agent X 05-19-2005, 04:59 PM Single handed backhands are better anyway joeb_uk 05-19-2005, 05:06 PM Single handed backhands are better anyway Alot nicer to watch i agree ;) apart from safins double; i dont find them attractive to watch really (doubles). Thinking of all the nice one backhands to watch now; volandri, gaudio, mantilla, gasquet, guga, fed (cant think of two handers :D). Fumus 05-19-2005, 05:08 PM two backhands rock and so does everyone that hits them...therefore Roger cannot have a two handed backhand because he does not rock...see my logic.. ClaycourtaZzZz. 05-19-2005, 05:11 PM you don't rock! let's see after RG final;) Agent X 05-19-2005, 05:12 PM two backhands rock and so does everyone that hits them...therefore Roger cannot have a two handed backhand because he does not rock...see my logic.. I play single handed backhand and I rock though :rocker2: Agent X 05-19-2005, 05:15 PM Alot nicer to watch i agree ;) apart from safins double; i dont find them attractive to watch really (doubles). Thinking of all the nice one backhands to watch now; volandri, gaudio, mantilla, gasquet, guga, fed (cant think of two handers :D). :yeah: Tommy Haas also deserves a mention in the single handers. Double handers I'd say Safin has a nice one, also a couple of the Frenchies that do the jump double backhand is funny. Nalbandian's is also a nice shot. But single handers are definitely more attractive, and more effective in general. MisterQ 05-19-2005, 05:18 PM Andre's 2-hander is pretty awesome too. ;) :worship: I don't fetishize the one-hander... but I do enjoy the variety that it tends to bring to the shot, and to one's game in general. alfonsojose 05-19-2005, 05:42 PM Coria's and Nadal's two-handed backhands aren't that bad either Deivid23 05-19-2005, 05:46 PM One-handed backhand is the mark of the greatest, you only have to see López. alfonsojose 05-19-2005, 05:47 PM And what about Davydenko's  onewoman74 05-19-2005, 06:14 PM Haha!! Fed is doing what he has to do!! That man is no joke!! MissMoJo 05-19-2005, 06:17 PM two backhands rock and so does everyone that hits them...therefore Roger cannot have a two handed backhand because he does not rock...see my logic.. :ras: Rogiroxmysox :p auwkeung 05-19-2005, 06:20 PM Single handed backhands are better anyway i don't agree with that.....I think that both has their strength and weakness... Single-handed has a better reach and more flexible, but it seems to me that generally people hitting single-handed bh is weaker in terms of power, and it generates less spin Double-handed can generate more spin, more power, and more stable, but it has a narrower coverage and requires better footwork and hip rotation i think :wavey: :wavey: Turkeyballs Paco 05-19-2005, 06:21 PM I'm not surprised Roger is still fine-tuning his game. He's never satisfied with everything he's doing, which is probably why he is now so incredible. If he feels his backhand is being exploited, it makes sense to work to make it a real weapon. I never thought his backhand was bad before, but Gasquet was attacking it, I thought. NYCtennisfan 05-19-2005, 06:27 PM Roger Seles Hehehehehe misyou25 05-19-2005, 06:36 PM two backhands rock and so does everyone that hits them...therefore Roger cannot have a two handed backhand because he does not rock...see my logic.. :yeah: right PaulieM 05-19-2005, 08:03 PM :ras: Rogiroxmysox :p mine too :D zethand 05-19-2005, 08:05 PM Roger please dont do that.. You are the best... you dont have to change! :) Adman 05-19-2005, 08:12 PM Ah, he's finally seen the light... I have always found that with the two handed backhand I have more control when playing down the line, but my friend plays the one handed backhand and he gets some of the more amazing angles on his shots!! Angle Queen 05-19-2005, 08:13 PM http://www.rolandgarros.com/images/pics/large/b_v_federer_18_gal05.jpg He looks awkward...and merely...out of position in this pic. Admittedly, those are rarely terms to be used in the same sentence with Federer. I'm normally a two-hander with a straight-arm takeback ŕ la Hewitt but if I'm caught off-guard, e.g. was sitting on my heels and got caught by a dropper, I'll reach/lunge for it one-handed. Anything to get the ball back over the net. Until I see Rog doing it consistently, it's just an anomaly. ae wowww 05-19-2005, 08:28 PM I think it's awesome he tried it, just for the sake of it. Maybe he realised he won't have ALL the best shots of all time, only the serve, volley, s-h backhand, forehand and smash. He wanted the double too :D NYCtennisfan 05-19-2005, 11:09 PM I think it's awesome he tried it, just for the sake of it. Maybe he realised he won't have ALL the best shots of all time, only the serve, volley, s-h backhand, forehand and smash. He wanted the double too Lol, yeah. I wonder what his two-handed bh would look like? He would have to really change the current motion. nkhera1 05-20-2005, 01:06 AM Most likely he was just messing around, or maybe he was returning serve and got jammed so he had to use two hands. Plus I've never seen anyone ever do a jumping one handed backhand though some people have done jumping two handed backhands. jole 05-20-2005, 01:13 AM Most likely he was just messing around, or maybe he was returning serve and got jammed so he had to use two hands. Plus I've never seen anyone ever do a jumping one handed backhand though some people have done jumping two handed backhands. You're on the money there. It's nice to have a two-handed jump backhand for those absurdly high balls. makro120 05-20-2005, 01:56 AM Federer should use two handed backhands to return 2nd serves while using his one hand backhand returning 1st serves (here he is the best in the game). He could also use 2 handed backhand when he is facing someone like gasquet who hits really hard backhand crosses. I have tried this myself but I just can't get rythm in my game doing this, but I am sure Federer would not have the same problems... NYCtennisfan 05-20-2005, 02:07 AM I have tried this myself but I just can't get rythm in my game doing this, but I am sure Federer would not have the same problems... I'm sure he would have the same problems makro and that's why he or anybody else will not change their bh this late in their career, especially a career as great as Federer's. I just don't see how it would be possible for anyone. Art&Soul 05-20-2005, 02:54 AM Nooooooooo, don't do it ROGI, singled-backhand rare and rocks ;) Carolinita 05-20-2005, 03:15 AM maybe tennis has become boring for him ....he's always winning and winning...so now he try to evolve toward a supreme state  nkhera1 05-20-2005, 05:33 AM maybe tennis has become boring for him ....he's always winning and winning...so now he try to evolve toward a supreme state  Then he should go for an ace or winner everytime. safdem 05-20-2005, 05:35 AM hahaha...just trying it out :) Puschkin 05-20-2005, 05:41 AM ....though some people have done jumping two handed backhands. That's why my first thought was Marcelo Rios when I saw this pic ;) silverwhite 05-20-2005, 05:44 AM Most likely he was just messing around, or maybe he was returning serve and got jammed so he had to use two hands. Plus I've never seen anyone ever do a jumping one handed backhand though some people have done jumping two handed backhands. I have  Mrs. B 05-20-2005, 09:55 AM ha! he can also play twohanded forehands. see my av. :p Shabazza 05-20-2005, 10:09 AM ha! he can also play twohanded forehands. see my av. :p  he's capable of anything isn't he ;) auwkeung 05-20-2005, 10:26 AM ha! he can also play twohanded forehands. see my av. :p the child is Roger?? nermo 05-20-2005, 11:30 AM Dont know.. he looked weird..like hes suffering while doing it.. :drink: anyway...his one handed backhand is wonderful..its rare and powerful..but may be he s looking for something new to attack with..may be it ll be more accurately targeted or so?? | |
