Calleri and Zabaleta out of RG

Calleri pulls out with a persistent back problem.
Zabaleta out with a foot injury.

Shame, both players would've had chances to get to the 2nd week.

They are replaced in the main draw by Julien Benneteau and David Sanchez. The WC that was originally going to Benneteau is given to Olivier Patience, who has been rewarded for his "patience" *sorry* :p

As GeorgeW would say, sometimes you've got to have a little...

I'm not sure Calleri would have gone deep here considering that his GS record in general is pretty bad, but Zab was playing well before the injury struck him in Monte Carlo and could have been a contender. Pity.

I knew this a while ago with Zabaleta, but I wasn't sure about Calleri it's disappointing that they both missed out on the tournament where they have the best chances to do well, Zab was running into some good form as well, which made it worse. Just hope they can both get better soon.

sorry to hear about both of them, but mostly mariano. His energy, good cheer, and all round niceness are something i look forward to seeing every year.

yeah...that really is a shame...both great clay players. Mariano especially was playing so well before...and yes, he is a nice guy too. shame for calleri also, who had to retire in the first round last year. some ppl just have no luck...

Calleri is one of my favorite Argies. sniff
And Zab's thighs are always entertaining. :)

It's sad for Argie fans to have these two missing.

It's really too bad. It's good news for some of the top seeds because a guy like Calleri could get hot at any time and it would not be a fun thing to against him on one of those days.

He's playing tennis again. In fact, he was about to play in RG, but the doctors told him to wait just a few more weeks.
FWY: Mariano played a doubles match this week with Maradona, against Monaco and Luis Lobo. We'll be able to see the whole thing in LatinAmerica next week :)

I read about this one some time ago, but it is disappointing for the game and for them. They are a notable part of the Argentine pack. Both have nice games to watch and both are good tennis figures, and this is very disappointing for Mariano because I know he just has so much talent and it's still there somewhere waiting to come out and make a mark. Clay is good for him too.
