Surbiton Trophy Wild Cards Announced

The LTA today confirms that British number two Greg Rusedski will play at this year’s Surbiton Trophy after receiving one of eight available wildcards.

The tournament, which begins tomorrow with qualifying, Saturday 28th, is the traditional curtain raiser to the grass court season.

Greg will use both Surbiton along side Queens as preparation for this year’s Championships, Wimbledon.

Last year he reached the quarterfinal stage at Surbiton losing to Canadian Frank Dancevic.

Wild cards have also been awarded to three other British men including 2003 runner-up Alex Bogdanovic, Mark Hilton and Jonathan Marray as well as four British women, Anne Keothavong, Amanda Janes, Jane O’Donoghue and Emily Webley-Smith.

Good decision by Gambill. But Popp is missing

This is a pretty strong list, but JMG should be okay for a round, maybe two. Would help if he's seeded.

The blonde giraffe needs a spanking for not entering (but we would need the laps of 3 people to stretch him across, some help getting him there....)

You cant call the tournament (only a box office). They dont actually list the club's number on the site. I tryed calling before to check some details about the clubs location (which i couldnt because it was a box office line). Anyway i am not to worried about getting the results, i can wait a few hours for them to be posted on the website.

Nice :D it looks as if no round of 16 matches are played tomorrow (so hopefully they will all be played on thursday). Would really like to see the match tomorrow, baghdatis - mankad. But i am hoping to see the winner play on thursday! (or even better play will get rained off 2moro :woohoo: )

Someone said it was an easily winnable match? Definitately not, Travis is an awesome player. He only lost in quallies as he played another serve volleyer, Niemeyer so found it hard. With Alex back, he came in a lot and played very well. Huge serve-came on with his hood up and a hat on LOL... I now know him as 8-mile!

Would really love to see some details from you on that match tomorrow if you go! .. Mankad has been on a roll with a 9-1 record on grass since last weekend .. It would be tough, but he can upset Baghdatis.

Maybe he can (i didnt see marcos practicing at all, so unless he is super confident on the surface i would be quite surprised  ). Although i think his game is suitable for all surfaces really. He may have practiced on monday or tuesday (but the other players were all practicing a few days before hand).

I cant go i am afraid, i have a fucking exam at 2.30 today :( so i can only go tomorrow  so i am hoping for this match to get rained off lol, but anyway - hopefully i can see the winner out of this match play tomorrow.

Anyway we cant take any notice of the doubles results in relation to the singles. Will you be watching him in the singles?
