What rivalries do you miss/enjoy?!

Guga vs. Safin - all of 2000, right
Pete vs. Andre - I actually have to say

Rafter vs. Andre

The three always gave good matches :eek:


btw, I don't know if many of you know this but the Jan-mike vs. Hewitt or Jan-Mike vs. Mark P. were always great drama :drool: always exiting and better yet with Jan-Mike holding a lead in h2h against both players :eek: :eek:

Mrs. Guga, even before I saw your post I was thinking Guga/Safin. I do miss that match up. Can't wait for Guga to return to peak condition. What I'd really like to see now is Guga/Lleyton. I will not rest until Guga avenges that Florianopolis clay court loss to that rude upstart. That loss was just unacceptable.

I like the Kournikova/Hingis rivalry! :D Except it probably doesn't qualify as a rivalry! :(

I enjoy watching Juan Carlos Ferrero & Guga play. The semis at RG just aren't complete without them. :)

Rafter/Agassi also had some great matches. I don't really miss any, though. Borg/McEnroe featured two of my all-time favs, tho!

Guga vs Safin is the one I miss the most. I said that so many times that I sound like a cry-baby... But it was so wonderful...

Actually, one match up that I have only seen occur once personally is Hewitt vs Moya.
I sure an awesome match they played 4th Round at the 2001 Aus Open.........Moya came from nowhere that tournament to upset Hewitt..........he just overpowered him with winners. That was a great match.

Edberg vs Becker was an awesome match up that I really wasn't old enough to enjoy the way I wish I could have.

There are many more, but I wont waste them all in one post. I like to tease people.......hehehehe.........give them just a little taste ;) hehehe

I think we are forgetting one great one. Conners and Mcenroe. mcenroe would get pi$$ed about a great return and it was hell from there. Mcenroe and Borg or Lendl was good too. Just about anything with Johnny Mac was a great match with his great attitude.

I would miss the Sampras-Agassi rivalry but that's continuing right here in this forum for reasons I can't really understand so I don't miss any rivalry at the moment. I do miss a lack of rivalry, does that count too? :lol:

Agassi-Federer generated some great, close matches and a lot of unparalleled shotmaking. I still remember my awe at their abilities on a few occasions. I will miss it too, even if it was all Andre, then all Roger. :lol:

It was a good rivalry when Federer first started to beat him, from 03 to 04, since that's when they were virtually at the same level whereas in previous and subsequent meetings there was usually a large gulf between them. The TMC final was a drubbing, true, but the RR match in Houston that week, then the IW SF and US Open QF in 2004 were some of Federer's tightest, most-hard fought victories of that entire period, when his backhand was more of a weakness and he generally played high-risk tennis that produced a lot of winners and errors.
