I'm surprised nobody has made a thread yet for this interesting matchup. Are people anxious about it? Maybe it's one of those I don't want either one to lose-type thing for most of you. :)

Anyhoo, here's their head-to-head (Safin leads 4-3)

Looking forward to furiously clicking the "refresh" button on this one

I really like Juan Carlos in three today... He has to pick up form against a top player at some point, right??

I want Ferrero to win, but that will depend on how well they both will play (how obvious is that?).

rooting for JCF, he deserves to finally get a good win

Either for me.. I love them both. This match is already delivering though. Like Fed-Gonzo both guys are hitting the ball very very crisply. Safin's 1st serves have been dodgy but both are hitting the lines on baseline rallies already. An early Safin break cancelled out immediately by a break back.

It surely cannot be long till Ferrero gets back to the very top. Some of it has got to be confidence. The loss to Ferrer in Miami a missed opportunity to get back on the road quicker but the way he's hitting at the moment is very impressive.

3 consecutive breaks of serves then and Ferrero leading 4-2.

I'm with JCF.

Should he win, I just hope it'll be the begining of something and not just another win followd by another loss.

BTW ,when for the last time did he win 3 matches in a row?

What's wrong with Safin? Losing to a out of form Ferrero sucks

JustmeUK

out of form Ferrero in general maybe. he's not playing like he's out of form this afternoon. solid groundstrokes.. not giving anything cheaply to Safin.

I was sure about him losing. Ferrero seems to be the dumber of the two, so he wold care more.. Pity, the vbetting for this match opened and closed while I was sleeping..;) Odds for Ferrero were excellent. :)

SPANK!

Okay, I thought Ferrero would lose, since he tends to when Marat plays well. So don't interpret this as gloating, since I could hardly care less who won this match.

If he tries. It's only when he doesn't try that he ever loses matches.

Nadal is probably playing better than Safin at the moment, so what is your point? We won't get to find out, Nadal will probably go out in the next round :)

Chloe le Bopper
04-14-2005, 07:10 PM
Um, you would seriously put Ferrero as a "no chance" against Volandri, who cramped his way to victory today? :wtf:

Ferrero isn't a better player than Safin, but he has won two MC titles and a RG title, which is more than Safin has on clay. I think he deserves a touch more respect than what you're giving him.

But carry on, you're amusing me ;)

Ferrero would probably beat Volandri but goes down big time against Coria

Sure, because, as meaningless as it is, Federer is doing the Grand Slam of Masters titles this year..

Yes, I agree.

um JC hasn't lost to Coria has he? JC has bigger weapons off the ground so I wouldn't say Coria would beat JC for sure. JC is healthy and this event is clearly good for his confidence right now. Although I do hope you are right Exodus, I don't want Roger (if he makes it to the finals) to have to deal with JC over Coria.

Oh, I agree with that. Is there a tiny little chance that Volandri can take Ferrero tomorrow? He seemed so exhausted and kinda hurt during his match, it just makes me think Ferrero in the semifinal, or even the final, is already a certain thing.

I still want the final to be Federer vs Coria, though. :D

Coria beat Ferrero in the 3rd round of this years australian open, 6-3 6-2 6-1 (not necessarily in that order.) I think Ferrero will get to the semifinals, but coria will be tough-but if JC can beat Marat, then hopefully he can beat Coria. Anyway even if he crashes out in the semis i'll be happy.
