According to his website, he went home for a few days (but I think you've seen that already by the time I posted this reply :D).

I've posted a translation of that notice in the news thread. The way I read the message, he takes part in the tournament.

:)A Hot Racket: Andre and Andy take a swing at the U.S. Tennis Clay Court Championships

Stuck up and stodgy? Try studly and sweaty. That's men's tennis for you nowadays, having long shed its cable-knit identity in favor of bicep-baring, neon-wearing superstars. Yes, the ladies get plenty of attention, thanks to toned legs under teensy skirts, but the dudes deserve their share of catcalling -- even if you have to do it under your breath. This weekend's Clay Court Championships bring several of the most dominant, and attractive, players to Houston. Andy Roddick -- who has hammered serves faster than 150 miles per hour, won the tourney in 2001 and 2002 and even dated Mandy Moore -- returns this year. The everlasting and still-sexy Andre Agassi will challenge him, as will defending champion Tommy Haas, whose flowing locks should appease those nostalgic for vintage Agassi. Defending doubles champions Mardy Fish and James Blake return as well.
Fans can check out the full match schedule after the draw on April 15. But the folks at Westside Tennis Club seem to have made some presumptions about their crowd already: April 19 is "Ladies Day" and will feature a fashion show and mini-manicures and pedicures. But we imagine most gals will have their eyes on the balls, beginning at 4 p.m. Monday, April 18. Finals are April 24. 1200 Wilcrest. For information, call 713-783-1620 or visit www.mensclaycourt.com. $30 to $75. -- Julia Ramey

Uum, I just love thinking about Tommy's flowing locks! I like Agassi, but he never looked that good!

My fondest wish is for Tommy to defend his championship in this tournament and get his season going! Go, Tommy, go! You and your lovely flowing locks are number 1!

From tennis-x.com: "Top three seeds Andy Roddick (d. (Q) Boeker), Andre Agassi (d. Tabara), and Tommy Haas (d. Vliegen) all advanced in straight sets to lead the seeds Tuesday at the ATP claycourt stop in Houston.
Haas fell behind 1-3 in the second set before closing it out in straights.
"He started to go for more shots in the second set," Haas said of Vliegen. "He played some good shots. He broke me but I broke back and in the end I hit some pretty good shots to win."

Go Tommy!!!!!

Way to go Tommy! Heard you served an ace to win the match! I'm very proud of you.

Will someone please tell me what Tommy is saying on his homepage about the match? Thanks as always.

Houston: Viertelfinale erreicht - jetzt gegen Jürgen Melzer

Revanche gegen Jürgen Melzer steht an

He is saying that it was a hard-earned win, especially in the first set and the match lasted 1 hour and 26 minutes. It was a match with lots of lost service games, there have been 15 break points overall.

Finally he is saying that he wants revenche against Jürgen Melzer who has beaten him 2002 in Vienna indoor. This match is a special one for him because lots of his relatives are coming from Austria (his dad was born there), so it's almost against a compatriot.

Jürgen Melzer is really a capable player on clay. You can lose to him. I feel bad for Tommy with a sad eye because he was defending champ in Houston, but on the other eye I'm also happy because Melzer is also one of my favs and because I hopefully see Tommy soon in Munich then ;)
