Well looking at Agassi's losses on clay and so early on his career is really no surprise, its rarely considered a good surface for him anyways. His flat groundies arent nearly as effective on clay. Nonetheless surprising, anyways Agassi wasnt as committed a player early on his career, so losing to lesser players early on his career especially on his perhaps weakest surface (dont know if grass is his weaker surface, yet it still rewards his return of serve and flat strokes) so perhaps clay is his weakest surface, however his volleys are anything but special to say the least.

Most of those Sampras losses also came early on so not too big of a surprise, what is funny is that his former coach has a wining record over him lol.

yes indeed. surprises do happen. that's why I like tennis and why it is most times interesting. Or else always the highest ranked players would winning. But the good thing is that they can also lose to 150 ranks lower opponents in first and second round, even more in a long career like Agassi, Sampras, Kafelnikov...
