Will Agassi win another slam?!

With Agassi's 35th birthday approaching later this month, and many saying this will be his last season, does he have that one last slam in him and go out as Pete did?

Playing Andrea Agassi on WTAtour, :yeah:

Seroiusly, only a huge opening on any slam draw this year could give him a chance

Yeah he could do it. If there´s a freak slam and top seeds go out early, he could hold it together and get a win. And he may be inspired in a final against a top player. You can never count this man out can you? He´s one of the all time greats, still very fit and I expect that when he gets close to retiring, he´ll motivate himself, using Graf and sampras´examples and say goodbye with style.

No.

I would say "no". But then again I think he won't lose sleep over the fact that he probably won't win another Slam because he already has a few, coming from all four Grand Slam Tournaments :yeah:

one last shot at next year's Aussie, he needs to avoid FedEx & Safin.

Hope so, but not likely.

Not very likely, but he's playing well enough that it can't be ruled out entirely. ;)

Every Slam win requires some luck somewhere in the seven matches. Except some of Pete's Wimby slams where he obliterated fields without any tough spots.

If this is his last season I would have to say no way, with clay-courters like Coria, Gaudio, and Nadal at the French, Fed and Roddick and Wimbledon, and Roddick, Fed, and Hewitt at the USO, it just doesn't look good. But...If he does continue to play next year I think if there are a few upsets at the AO, its his.

If Andre is to have a last Slam victory it would be fitting that it was the US Open and that with the Australian Open are his most realistic chances of having one last Grand Slam triumph.

I don't really think Andre can win another slam but it feels like cause Pete left on the back of a slam victory that Andre is expected too as well but I just don't think Andre has that big weapon ala pete's serve to be albe to but then again with a good draw at the US or Aus open anything is possible.

Go ahead, keep posting the same topics about Andre.

Every time Andre is mentioned in a thread questions arise about his ability to win a grand slam.

The fact is he can't as long as Nadal and Federer are still breathing and carry an ATP card in their bag.

Its only really Federer that is a consistent problem for Andre. He's beaten Roddick, and Hewitt the last few times, as well as most other players in the top 10. He's got as much chance as any other top 10 player below Fed. I think he will win the US Open or the AO next year.

I think you made a good point there. He probably won't win RG, but with a lucky draw (means not facing Federer or an in-form Safin) Andre can win USO or AO.

Those expectation are unreasonable, in my opinion. Pete is the only player I can think of who left with a GS final win as his last match. Agassi will still be considered a great player without going out that way, just like McEnroe, Borg, Lendl, Connors, et al... ;)

Looking less and less likely now but I have the faith! :rocker2:

I think Fed has gotten into his head, but other than that, he can at least play toe to toe with an in-form Safin, Roddick, et al.

Another slam would put him above the crowd of Connors, Lendl, Rosewall...

In Federer Era (since 2004) it's almost impossible for him ... If he can play until after this Era maybe .. :P
