From BBC Sport Teletext
18 year-old Nadal, born in Manacor in Mallorca, will today officially switch nationality, thus representing his chosen country in Davis Cup competition in future. Some might say it is an odd move, but for Nadal, it seems to make complete sense, and in his words "I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner. I want to honour my grandparents in the best way possible."
Nadal will now be an official citizen of Cameroon, the country in which is grandparents were born and raised, before moving to Gibraltar, and having his parents in Spain.
"I wish to thank the Spanish authorities, in particular the tennis association, for all the support and experience they have given me. I now relish the opportunity of playing under the flag of Cameroon, and bringing something to the nation."

I´m good at telling what´s a joke and what could be true. I mean, Rafael switching is nationality is something that is most likely not to happen.

England doesn't play tennis. Great Britain does.

Mate I'm so proud you just said that :worship:

Us Scots do exist, we are a part of Britain despite not contributing much, but we'll soon be rocking tennis with the appearance of Andy Murray :rocker2:

I would rather prefer him to switch to playing right-handed.. Then he would have probably had some chance for glory..

Oh you're back. By the way have you ever heard of a certain player called John Mcenroe? He wasn't very successful, must've been because he's left handed

That was before power tennis took over the game. All successful lefties have always been either finesse players or grinders - but never power players. Physique of a lefty does not allow them to generate as much of a power of the ground as righthanders.. The law of modern tennis is - power tennis rules... Hence, no more big lefty champions. Ever.

Yes because Nadal has no future in the game, as shown by his miserable run of form this season

Also, go watch Fernando Verdasco play. I think you might change your mind

I don't understand what your logic is... The ball doesn't know whether it's being hit by a forehand or a backhand and lefties have a big advantage when it comes to serving. Of course lefties have to learn to play the court a little differently..... from what I've seen Rafa knows exactly what he's doing out there. And I must add that I see no difference in Rafa's physique when I compare him to right handed players. Its not as though lefties come with a label on their back that says "physically impaired" :tape:

Who is he? In which Slams finals or semis or at least quarters did he feature?
