LOL, I saw it when viewing some Justine's news in a website. It's sad yet extremely pathetic and kinda hilarious.

From all the hype that has been made about it I thought his reaction was a lot less severe than what was described. He handled it relatively well all things considered. Good thing he got off the court when he did- he was clearly trying very hard to bottle up his anger as he walked off. I think it would have gotten pretty ugly had he stayed with the crowd booing and him getting madder and madder.

I agree with you, RonE. His reaction seemed normal considered he got thrown out of the match and tournament. Some players behaved worse when arguing a line call.

Okay I'm really impressed by this but I didnt get to read about this match or anything. Could anyone please explain what in the name of Rod Laver was going on out there?

I think the reaction was understandable given the fact that he was just thrown out of the competition. I have seen worse reactions from other players. I like Andy, but he can really curse a lines person. However, he is never reprimanded. And, of course, Safin needs no mention alongside Andy

When Malisse lay down on the court, I felt really sorry for him. Gosh, I can only imagine how upset he must've been, especially after the draw was so evacuated by seeded players.

wow, i feel so bad for the guy (Xavier) as i heard, he didn't actually say anything bad... he's a really nice guy in person (met him once) i mean, at the beginning, he just looks so confused as to why he's being thrown out. but once he gets mad, watch out! i'd be scared for my life if i were the cameraman!

he should be given some kind of compensation for getting thrown out under false pretences.

OK, if you're not playing and you cuss out a ref, can you be arrested or fined or put in a time-out or something?

That's what I heard too jmg's...
I'm impressed he only smashed his racquet into the fence. I'd be wanting to take aim at someone :tape: I'd definitely be getting in people's faces after that  (This is why I don't play tennis. I break things for little mistakes :()

Best of luck next tournament Xavier :wavey:

I think the punishment of throwing him out of the game for minor misconduct was extreme. NASDAQ is very strict. Taylor Dent blew up over a line call in the second set against Marat Safin at Indian Wells and he just got a "verbal abuse warning" from the swedish ump, Lars (name ?).

Lars Graf (or two f's?) :yeah:
Adelaide's "King of the Kids". (Ballkids were fighting to sit next to him)...

So did we figure out who this ref was?

Yeah, he must be so bummed to see Ferrer in the quarters knowing that he would have had a good chance to be in that same place right now....

I don't think she's a 10 year old. You don't let 10 year old check lines in the "5th slam", where so much money and ATP points are involved!
Anyway, that bitch ruined Malisse's tournament (career?), only because she needs to see a doctor for her ears... Come on, a "fucking whole ball out" is not a "fucking whore"...

I would have punched that bitch, no doubt!

Alright. Seeing as she's not 10 yrs old anymore, and it IS the "5th Slam" and all... I shall join you in the punching.

Poor Xavier. But his career is still in tact.

OK, if you're not playing and you cuss out a ref, can you be arrested or fined or put in a time-out or something?Usually that person is just removed from the match by security. I guess if he actually hit or threw something at the umpire he would be subject to criminal charges.

During the 2003 U.S. Open, a guy in the front row who was heckling Kuerten was removed by security after Kuerten complained to the umpire.

I got pissed when the lineswoman waddled off court. If I'd been Malisse, I'd have aimed for the derrerire...I mean, if you're already kicked out and facing a fine, there's no point seriously restraining yourself.

Yeah, I'm mad at the linesperson too and I feel really bad for Malisse.

But I'm getting pissed off about all these comments about her. Linesbitch (another thread, same subject), bitch, fat bitch, etc. Just stop it, please.

Sorry if I'm being too touchy about this; it's just fucking annoying and I'm sick of it.
