Is Roddick coming for this event? I highly doubt it.

Is Roddick coming for this event? I highly doubt it.

Barring anything unforeseen, I think he will. It's the one he's done the best at because it's the fastest. He actually made the SF the first time he played, in 2002. It was the only clay TMS he played last year.

Though, I'm sure he'll stay at a different hotel :)

Carlos Moya is the reigning champion. He beat David Nalbandian in the final last year - can't quite remember the score even though I was there(!), but it was 3 sets and fairly easy for Moya.

Is Hewitt going to be back from the injury in time for Roma? I read that he's out until May, but does that mean he's playing in Rome or what? I hope he does because it's going to be a loaded field.

I have read that Rainer Schüttler has pulled out of Rome and Hamburg.

Champion number 1
04-29-2005, 10:13 AM
I know that the Italian wild cards are Seppi, Sanguinetti, Di Mauro and Starace.

Luzzi didnt even get a WC for the qualies, the qualies wild cards I think were Bracciali, Galvani, Fognini and Aldi

Good to see FOgnini at least in the qualies. All the WC for the main draw will go out in round 1.

Dirk Hordorff said in an interview that he's not mentally ready for Rome or Hamburg. I think he may skip Rome but can't imagine him skipping a German tourney. But who knows

Is that so he can claim the Rome AMS as a 6th optional event and get 3 Race points in it instead of the 1 he would have got? ;)

No, a player who withdrew from the original direct acceptance list of mandatory tournament (GS or MS) get 0 pts for this tourney

I can´t imagine him skipping Hamburg either , but in the german news, it´s said that it could be possible that Rainer will be skipping the French Open. So don´t be surprised if he skips Hamburg.

American star Andre Agassi is seeded number 6 and will play his first round against an Italian wild card, Alessio Di Mauro.
