Gone with the wind to the final, 26.2.2005.
Ivan will play in the final for the third week in a row! After Marseilles and Rotterdam he managed to win semifinal match in Dubai. He beat Spaniard Tommy Robredo 6:4 6:3 and improved this years record to 20-5 with perfect 5-0 against Spaniards.

- Before, I'd be thinking "wow, I'm in the final". Now I don't have any special thoughts. OK, it's another final. My coach Patti said it best: "Now you have new level, new class".

What's changed so dramatically from the last year? What's the secret for reaching four finals in six matches, three of which in a row. On two continents and two different type of courts. It turns out that semifinal in Milan is "bad" record, along with second round of Australian Open.

- It's simple. Now, I can win in every match. I could've won matches last, even the year before last. The difference is that now, I'm winning. I'm ready, both psychically and physically and that's it.

Lisnard, Verdasco, Henman, Robredo. Good line of players.

I'm playing match at the time. In this case, every opponent was different. First was dangerous because of court change, left-handed Verdasco doesn't suit me at all. But I managed to escape with win. Against Henman, match was being interrupted all the time, and now it was windy. Every match was a story of its own and that's a nice feeling. I won against different types of players. I played great against Robredo. I even didn't have to hit the ball hard, he missed quite a lot of balls out. I slowed down too much in the middle of both sets so he took over the initiative. Still, I'm experienced enough so it didn't last long.

Federer could be Ivan's opponent for the third time this season. In Doha, Swiss won easily, in Rotterdam Ivan was 4:2 up in the third set tie break. But Federer will first have to win against Agassi. Both of them had to play two matches because of yesterday's rain. Ivan's advantage?

- They didn't have to work hard. If they played three sets, and then had a good fight among themselves, then maybe. I just don't thing they'll have any problems tomorrow.

Final will be played at 6 p.m. CET. Ivan might be on HTV again. Maybe in intro to Davis Cup against Agassi?

I doubt it. But times have arrived when one would like to play against Agassi. He's playing well, but doesn't go after every ball. But once he enters the court and starts dictating the game, he's still dangerous.

New final won't mean too much in a quest for Top 10.

- I have to win something big.

For start it might be Dubai. Title in Lyon has been lonely for too long

yeah ur still idiot..who dont know shit about tennis.

HAHAHA. Apparently I know more than you as I predicted this score line. You seemed to think Ljubicic had a small chance of winning this I just told you what you did not want to hear; that being that the outcome of this match was already decided before Ljubicic brought his mediocre game to the court.

BP, break him and make this easier, you both need rest (what a lazy excuse... or not).
Anyway, don't think this is over. Hopefully Fed will keep up his rythym, but if Ljubicic actually starts playing his best tennis, it could be complicated.

I'm also in agreement with who said that when Roger is concerned, it can't get boring.

Nope, but to e fair it was not exactly a hard prediction to make. Ljubicic is just not top 10 material, never will be. I know that reality upsets his fans here but it is the truth.

Ivan has done well to get this far and should be given great credit for his incredible performances this year but I agree with MANY people - he is NOT top 10 material.

His ranking cannot improve much more outside the big matches and I doubt very much that we will see runs like this happen on a relatively regular basis this year. He won't beat the likes of Roddick, Safin , Hewitt, Federer, Agassi etc in the Masters and GS.

He might peak in the top 10 in a few weeks but once the year really gets going, particularly during the clay court season, he'll be top 20 at best.

However, he is still a good player. But I think this lack of brains in playing 4 straight tournaments without rest will either lead to early burn-out this year or injury I'm afraid.

It depends on the match. If it's one-sided because one player is playing extremely well and the other is playing relatively well, I see no problem. But if it's because one player is on a crap-mode and the other not at his peak, then it's not good for the sport.

Broomie
02-27-2005, 04:51 PM
JCF, as far as i'm concerned, it bothers me a little. Because, yes, fed plays great. But let's face it the match sucks: it's boring and we can already guess the ending.
