Injured Agassi Quits Masters

SHANGHAI, China (Reuters) - Andre Agassi (news) pulled out of the Masters Cup Thursday with a hip injury hours after his Gold Group loss to Juan Carlos Ferrero left him without any chance of qualifying for the semi-finals of the year-ender.

Agassi had been due to play already-qualified Swiss Roger Federer in a final group match Friday but withdrew injured.

"Andre Agassi is very disappointed," tournament director Brad Drewett said. "He came to the tournament with a hip injury that he sustained in Paris. He aggravated that injury in tonight's match and has been forced to withdraw from the tournament.

"Fortunately, Australian Open (news - web sites) champion Thomas Johansson is available and will take Andre's place in tomorrow's match."

Oh Thomas does have a chance to play now ... He must be very pleased!! But I hope he won't take out so much of Roger's energy... coz' if Potato advances to the semis, Roger will have to play him.... Roger has to win!! ;)

If he was really injured then that explains his bad form ...

but if this is just packing up his toys and going home, then I'm disappointed in Agassi. He's too old and too good to behave like that.

He sure did not look injured but he did play an unusual tactic.

Bad Form? Like Ferrero can't beat him when he's in good form? *snickers*

bye bye Bald Man :D

How come I am not surprised at all :D

Before the tournament AA was saying that he is in excellent pysical shape which he'll be trying to maintain for the next year. Does that mean he wants to carry this injury to the next season? :D

Or probably my English is not good enough to sort out these things :D
