So who is the weakest link?

11-05-2002, 04:31 PM
Out of the 8 players, who is/are the weakest link(s)?

Andre Agassi
Albert Costa
Roger Federer
Juan Carlos Ferrero
Lleyton Hewitt
Carlos Moya
Jiri Novak
Marat Safin

I would say Novak is the weakest link, but only because he is slightly injured. If he wasn't injured then I would say Costa is the weakest link because he is not very good indoors.

Costa is absolutely useless indoors.

11-05-2002, 05:46 PM
Albert Costa by a LONG LONG Way

it took him to 2000 to win his 1st ever Career match indoors
and this yr he hasn't won one either

11-05-2002, 08:49 PM
Costa for sure,he will lose all matches

Costa the weakest link? my ass!
Costa will shut up the mouth of his haters:fiery:

¡Vamos Albert win the whole thing!

The weakest link in my opinion is Ferrero:p

Costa is the weakest link.
Out of all the players in the field I think he won't bring his A-game on court with him.
He hasn't been playing well since he won RG. I think he's 8-10 since winning RG. He lost 6 times in the 1st round.

Weakest link is Costa!

*lol @ Niminator and Marat's head being the MC's weakest link!*
Marat you'd better fix your head and make sure that brain cells are working fine (say no to mental collapse!):p

Vamos Marat!

is Ferrero, or Novak, even Marat if he plays like a spoiled child! but not Beto Costa:mad:

Ferrero reached the semi finals last year, and has won more matches indoors this year alone, than Costa has in his life.

Rip your head out of denial for a second, and join the rest of us in reality.

If he isn't injured, I think that Jiri is going to surprise a few people...

11-10-2002, 09:13 PM
let's wait and see the matches Becca, then i am going to decide if i will join to your "reality".
whatever ferrero won't be the champ :p

Hewitt, Agassi, Marat and Moyà are the favs, the black horse is Federer, not Ferrero;)

11-11-2002, 02:12 AM
:) I hope Novak won't surprise everyone!!

Se lo que quiere decir: the dark horse may be Federer! Espero que si!!! ;)

Funny, I don't seem to remember saying ONCE that Ferrero would be the champ.

Please, quote me on where I said this?

Because reading your comment to me, it sure sounds as if I did

I'm merely pointing out the obvious - the only way Costa will win a match, is if one of the other three play WAY below form. In fact, I'm sorry he isn't in Ferrero's group. Ferrero would crush him indoors :p

The weakest link, is the weakest player indoors - COSTA.

As for Jiri, I happen to think he'll surprise, like I said.

11-11-2002, 03:55 AM
You thinks too much, Becca, why i would like to quote you? i don't see any reason. If you were Whitman, Borges, García Lorca, maybe.....;)

also you are talking too much, let's see if Costa doesn't wins any match, otherwise i will see you eating your own words, with canadian ham (bacon) is ok? :D

11-11-2002, 01:03 PM
Even that canadian hm would beat Costa indoors :p

11-11-2002, 02:56 PM
So, the vast majority say Costa is the weakest link.

"Costa, you are the weakest link. Adiós." :D

11-12-2002, 12:54 AM
mmm too many Costa Haters here, maybe i should begin to whining as the Williams fans: this is racism!!! you hate him just because Costa is dark!!!! :fiery:

But i won't do it, because i am sure that Costa will surprise one or two players:angel: ¡Vamos Beto, carajo! ;)

11-13-2002, 09:41 AM
Costa??? really? some people was a bit wrong, just a little bit ;) :D

11-13-2002, 10:12 AM
GO AL!!! Prove the HATERS WRONG!!! :bounce:

Rebecca, you hater! ;)

Seriously though I love me some AL and when are you people going to learn that Spaniards always give their best when underestimated. As far as JCF is concerned, he really needs to add some variety to his game. He has variety actually but he does not use it enough. Patrick McEnroe described him as a manufactured, hitting-type player whereas he said that Rogi  is just oozing with talent. :D I like JCF but I think he is overrated and I will never believe that he was the favorite against Al Costa at the French. Ferrero's game is good against a lot of guys on clay EXCEPT the ones who have heavy topspin and tons of variety. But I do hope that JCF can take out Agassi!!!!

Patty Mac is an idiot, and I refuse to listen to anything he says about Ferrero's game. This is the same guy who one match said that Ferrero's passing shots are only good on clay, then the very next was raving madly about that. A total idiot, who may know something about tennis, but it certaintly doesn't show. Patty Mac hates Ferrero, and only has anything remotely good to say about him when he feels like jumping on his bandwagon for 2 seconds. As far as I'm concerned Patty Mac can eat dog shit.

Regarding Costa - who is hating? Costa had the shittiest indoors stats of all the players. Based on stats - and not simply on dislike and a whole lot of nothing - it made sense to pick him.

He won a match, and stretched Hewitt. Good for him. He will now finish in the top ten, which is what I wanted anyhow :D

11-13-2002, 11:12 AM
Wait - don't look now - but is Jiri surprising? ;)

11-13-2002, 11:24 AM
Patty Mac was also DEAD WRONG about JIRI!!! :D

I do think that JCF should look at Novak's tape and serve out wide and hit backhands down the line. The last match JCF played against Andre on hard court in Madrid was just pure "being dictated to" for JCF. He ran all around and hit everything up the middle and Agassi carved him up. New match for JCF and time for a different strategy. GO Juanqui. :D

I still want to slap you for agreeing with Patty Mac that Ferrero is a "manufactured hitter" :p

Thou shalt not talk about Ferrero that way ;) ;) ;)

11-14-2002, 02:38 AM
Here is a quote from Al after beating Marat. Note the part in bold which may explain Costa's lack of indoor wins. Albert has done well in several tourney played on hard courts and I could not really understand why he would not be winning indoors.

"Sometimes matches can be decided in just a couple of points, and I fought and fought," said Costa, a clay-court specialist. "Fighting is easy for me. Maybe I am fresher than the other guys here. Not so confident, but more fresh because I have played fewer matches. I had a back injury and did not get wins indoors this season."

I chose agassi and was right!:D

11-17-2002, 01:30 PM
Never expected Marat would be the weakest link

11-17-2002, 03:32 PM
I guess Costa must have read this thread and got mad and wanted to prove everyone wrong. :D

Nimi was right, Marat's brain was the weakest link. :D
