Is it Gaudio, Todd Martin, Kuerten, Agassi, Hewitt or wait for it Verkerk?

Federer --incredible variety (it is his weaker side, but it is by no means a weak bh)

Fed's is awesome, Lopez's not bad either

Henin-Hardenne. Oops. This is MTF.

Federer...but only in my dreams. As for who I feel like I can personally strive for...Hewitt.

Actually I should precise: the motion itself is nice ("desirable"), I watched it yesterday and I enjoyed it, but the systematic slice effect is harmless after 10 minutes against a top gun... ;)

And now we can agree again ;) . I saw him winning Vienna last year, and felt that he never got real power on his BH.

Good mate, there are too many Hewitt and Coria fans around here to fight between Fed fans... ;)

Out of this list, Gaudio :)
I think Alex his backhand is very good also.

As nice an action as Roger's backhand is it could still be taken advantage of by someone with a massive double-hander, like Safin has shown.

I must agree with Angle Queen, re: Henin-Hardenne. Anyone, male or female, could learn something from the supreme gorgeousness of her backhand.

From the list I'd probably vote for Gaudio though. His is v. pretty.

I totally agree. Henin!
There's a reason why I started to like her, and it is that she reminded me a lot to Gabriela Sabatini, and her backhand was as delightful as it was Gaby's. And Gaudio is gifted too!!!!!!!

Gaudio, Kafelnikov, Federer, Agassi, Nalbandian, Sargasian, Guga...too many goood backhands to choose from.

not sure how Sampras qualified for inclusion on the list

If desirable means good or efficient..........is between Gaudio e Safin

If desirable means beautiful....................is gaudio

Guga backhand used to be as amazing in the old days......

I voted for Safin :worship: because I like two-handed B-H
But talking objectly:

One-Handed Backhand: Guga, Federer, Gaudio.
Two-Handed Backhand: Safin, Nalbandian and Marcelo Ríos.

And for the women's backhands:
One-handed: :worship: Justine Henin-Hardenne :worship: ...how beautiful is her backhand!!!
Two-handed: :worship: Martina Hingis :worship:

 another poll about best bh!

But it's amazing this time that Federer has more vote than Gaudio or Kuerten. Federer may be the best player and his backhand is good, but no way he's better than Gaudio or Kuerten.

And since Sampras is included in the list, nothing really surprising. :p

Safin (powerful and accurate) and Guga (great angle). Federer has good backhand but definitely not the best.

Marat and Nalbandian. For some reason I'm not too fond on 1 handed BHs.

Me either, I like two handed backhand more. And coz Marat has the best two handed backhand on tour (or maybe the best backhand on tour) I voted for him. ;)
Also Gaudio's backhand doesn't look bad at all I must say... :)

The best backhand, Safin's. Efficient, powerful and deadly.
The most desirable one, must be Roger's, not the best one but such a beauty. And Gaudio's...I prefer single-handed bh

One handed: Guga/Gadio difficult to call, at the moment probably Gaudio because hes playing while in top form. In terms of desirability Federers its just such a beautiful shot, however not the best, his forehand is though for me.
two handed: Safin no doubt, love Corias clockwork like twohander, and Agassis' is just so beautifully timed so exquisite thats what you call precision. Nalbandians is not a shabby one either. Ferrero has a very decent and quite lethal one when playing on his top form.

Womns:
One hander its a tough one to call, between Henin and Mauresmos however that Henin backhand is a beauty in motion, but both have their strengths, Mauresmo's has more topspin i believe and Henin is a lot more flat.
two handers:
Martina Hingis no doubt, such a beautiful shot, like Agassis precision in the making. quite lethal as well
Lindsay Davenports is just such a force to contend with quite precise and so wonderfully hit.
Venus Williams down the line quite a shot in its own right! :worship: :worship: :worship:

By the way I have to agree with Tennischick! what in the world is Sampras's backhand even doing on this poll? I mean lets be serious, we can talk about his first and second serve quite succinctly, moreover his beautiful touch, approach shots and volleys but his backhand i mean yeah his forehand on the run was like no other. If Roddicks backhand is weak Sampras is thereof lacking if anything it was more of an approach shot kind of deal for his next delivery stroke. Thank God the rest of his game was by far superior overall, not only did he have a serve, he could deliver after it quite comfortably and watching him at net was quite a feat! :worship: :worship:

It's not right imo, to mix one-handers and two-handers in the same poll. And can anyone explain to me, what is so breathtakingly beautiful about Fed's backhand? It's slice after slice after slice and then error.

Riley Finn
02-11-2005, 11:48 AM
you don't get it. Federer is just awesome and his every shot is the best! No other player can hit a better backhand. or forehand. or volley. or serve better. or move better. or look better. or talk better. unless he's nt at his best which happens everytime he loses, cause at hsi best Roger is unbeatable and me hearts Roger!

Federer is just awesome and his every shot is the best!

Roger IS awsome, but not his every shot is the best. I would not name his backhand as the best, but the question posted was "most desirable".

Well, I would not even call his BH the "most desirable", but his overall play is. It was Andre Agassi who called it inspiring ;)

Riley Finn
02-11-2005, 12:22 PM
I'll rephrase in that case...Roger is the most desirable in everything he does...and the best too! Plus he's a super dooper sex machine!

federer's backhand is the most versatile on tour but i would say the way safin can deliver his backhand with such great timing, ease, and power would be desired by anyone.

Off course I would desire Fed's BH....but too inconsistent.....work of art in progress.

Most effective has to be:-
2H - Safin, Nalby, Agassi - my choice Safin
1H - Gaudio, Guga - my choice Guga

Federer's backhand is good, but not great...

One handed: Gaudio

Two handed: Safin

why is Sampras on that list? I mean, his slice was great, but that doesn't mean he had a one of the best backhands... and Hewitt? pff...

Also Marat, but Gaudio play more with his backhand that's why i think he's better
Hewitt also have one amazing backhand
And we can't forget Federer ;)
