Hi...not sure if he already has a thread here but I couldn't see it. Just wondering if anyone has any info on Olivier? I saw him last year at Roland Garros but didn't pay all that much attention to him, however I saw quite a bit of him at the Aus Open this year and have decided I want to support him more ;)

Vous pouvez me répondre en français aussi si vous voulez...or english...whatever.

thanks!! :)

Cos I've been looking through all the upcoming tournament lists (Indian wells including qualis, challengers etc) and I can't see him anywhere http://www.mainzelahr.de/smile/traurig/gruebel.gif Is he just having a break or is he injured? Mel

Olivier's in the semis. He defeated Michal Mertinak 6-7(5) 6-3 6-4.

From "Ouest France" paper:

OPEN MUTOUEST-SAINT-BRIEUC (FINALE) - Patience, l'homme pressé!

he beat Devilder 6-4 6-2 and then in the second round he beat Kubot 6-1 6-7(6) 6-1...I think he plays Simon Greul now...so hopefully he can get to the semis! he needs to get his ranking up! he can't even get into the qualis for rome!!!

~EMiLiTA~
04-29-2005, 01:32 PM
ok...for those that care...Olivier is into the semis of the Rome challenger...he beat Greul in the quarters 6-2 6-4 and now plays Koellerer for a spot in the final!!! hope he can do it!!!!!

well there has been a bit of confusion surrounding Olivier because he's into the final of the Roma challenger ( :woohoo: ) but is also scheduled to play the first round of qualies for the masters today (they've scheduled him late ar 6pm against Hernych)...but some ppl are saying he won't be allowed to compete in both...so not sure what's going to happen

Mel

Another Challenger title for Olivier! :bounce: He won the Roma final 7-6(4) 7-5 v. Florent Serra.
Then still managed to take part in the AMS qualies, to defeat Jan Hernych (Cze) 6-3 6-4.

~EMiLiTA~
05-01-2005, 11:24 AM
yes!!! great news for Olivier!! :woohoo:

now i think he plays Montañés in the second round of qualis...shame cos i like both players...but hope he does well anyway!! allez monsieur sexy!

~EMiLiTA~
05-02-2005, 02:40 PM
hi...does anyone know what happened to Olivier cos i'm a bit confused. I was watching the quali livescores last night when he was playing Montañés...he was losing 0-3 in the third set when suddenly it said WINNER: O. PATIENCE...so i assumed albert retired and olivier won...but then i see in the draw it's Montañés who got through (and now he's already lost to Costa)...does that mean it was actually Olivier who got injured and they just screwed up on the scoreboard? and if so, anyone know what's wrong with him? hope he's ok!!

Mel

From the FFT news:

>> He did retired during his 2nd Ql match because of some pain in the knee.

A pic of him with Jo W. Tsonga. For Roland Garros a lot of "rétro" pictures were made of young French tennis hopes and this is one of them. Many were made into billboards that could be seen around Roland Garros...

I'll be in Miami, too. Haven't gotten around to make plane ressies yet (I'm in that delicate phase with DH - the one between trips - where one false step can lead to the whole TW trip schedule blowing up. ;-)) So best to keep it hush for a bit and act like dedicated wife & mother for a week or so.

Hey all!
I am supporting Olivier since 2004 Szczecin challenger. But unfortunately was the last time I saw him in Metz. I wanted to go to Amersfoort this year but I just had one freeday and this day he didn´t play.
Well hopefully I will see him soon again!

He made the contrary of Marc Gicquel and lost after leading 2 sets to none against Jonas Bjorkman... It seems to always be his fate in GSs' R1, losing in 5 sets... 7-5 6-4 0-6 1-6 2-6...

unfortunately Olivier hasn't been doing as well as he did last year in South America - loss in RR in Viña del Mar, 2nd round in Florianopolis, 1st round in Costa do Sauipe and now I've just seen he lost first round in BsAs qualies :(

Maybe he'll play doubles with Devilder again..

First round French Open against Eysseric. Who´s that?

~EMiLiTA~

Eysseric is a young French player...he was the finalist at the junior Aus Open this year...Olivier should beat him...and currently he's 6-1 3-3 :)

He's in the 5th set against Mariano Zabaleta on Court n°7...

Crazy match, crazy points. French tv is showing it now. Olivier will lose but at least we will have seen good tennis.

Olivier is too far behind is baseline tiring himself up and not venturing to the net as much as he did at the beginning of the match according to commentators. Loosing his lucidity and playing a game that suits Zabaleta much better...

delsa
05-31-2007, 12:47 PM
 2 MPs for Olivier! Who would have thought?

ACE! Well done Zabaleta!

One left. He did it! Woaow!

7-5, 6-3, 3-6, 2-6, 6-4. WC deserved.

First of all, I come here in peace :) *offers olive branch*

We, in the forum of Olivier's next opponent, are very unfamiliar with his game, so we don't really know what to expect, and were wondering if you could just tell us a little bit about how he plays, what his strengths and weaknesses are, etc.

Other than that, hope it's a good match :D And... thanks :wavey:

OK so first of all, you have to know that Patience has a terrific serve that he's able to kick or slice when he wants. His Fh is awesome, and I remember Gonzalez trembling the first time he saw him play. When Gasquet and safin saw his BH they were totally demoralized yesterday (yes that's why...). And eventually Edberg and Rafter are dying to have this volley. But GL to Djoko, he's got time to learn.

More seriously now :)
He's a decent claycourter with FH as his best shot, a decent two-handed BH and a not so bad serve. Sort of complete but he's got nothing special to hurt Djoko actually - except in a karaoke perhaps. :)

What a match! What quality of play! What a fight! :hearts:

They're both 2 class acts. I'm happy for Nole. And for once the crowd was into it.

Yep it was very close and both deserved to win. But Novak is truely a great champion, as Olivier said after the match. So beautiful to see them both beeing interviewed at the same time, Novak asking the crowd to congratulate his opponent, both leaving the court togethezr while all the spectators where giving them a standing ovation... The best match of the 1st week hands down on all aspects. :worship:

The both won exactly the same number of points in those marvellous 4 hours : 165. :)

Olivier lost first round to Pashanski at Turin. I presume he was very tired coming off of last week's win, and Boris is a tough opponent who has a bright future, so it's not too disappointing.
