Tipsa losing makes me happy, Tipsa losing and wasting so many break points makes me even more happy. Thank you Gilles.

Yes because I spent 20 seconds thinking about a moderately witty title.

Peakimon will destroy Djokovic in the next round 2 and 1. Too good. Lolling hard at people who say he is 'just a pusher'

Because he frustrates the shit out of him. Gives him balls that are strong and deep enough so Janko can't set up an attack and weak enough so he can't use his power. And Janko isn't a very patient guy. Also he returns everything back to court. Janko should be all-out attacking him but when Simon drags him into just pushing the ball over the net, it's always going to be Simon who wins.

Gilles needed one hour to win 3rd set to 2 :spit:

Anyway, Simon should have won this in 2 sets.

Gilles 1st serve is still MIA but as long as he plays players he can break at will he can still win these matches.

For Tipsy it is a horror match up, he neither has the raw power to hit through Simon, nor solid enough technique to stay with Simon if the rallies get extended.

Gilles will probably offer little against Djokovic as he cant win cheap points with his serve right now and out-rallying Nole will be a thankless task.

He'll probably lose 1 and 2 to Nole next round, but his mission for this tournament is accomplished, taken out the you-know-what :p. Job well done.

Worth to mention that Simon was 5:3* ahead in first set but lost 5 straight games.

Why is Pushmon a bad matchup for Janko?

it is very simple. simon is not giving any pace and janko is defensive player.
janko can not attack consistently, because he was always rely pretty much on defense. his offensive game is very mediocre.

ahahaahah very funny match. Start watching from 3rd set. Some great rallies and winners from both.

Simon is biggest mystery of ATP for me. He can produce power from both wings, play at net, serving great, but after very smart attack you can see another 100 shot rally and after ace you can see 80 mph 1st serve from him :haha:.

Well done, Gilles.

Why is Pushmon a bad matchup for Janko?

For more or less the same reason he is a bad matchup for the likes of Berdych, Del Potro, even Federer. Simon might just be the toughest player on tour to downright hit through off the baseline, not because he's particularly fast but because his anticipation is great and he has an underrated variety of shot. He always looks like he's going to smack the ball but he never does... except when he does. It is very difficult to get any sort of rhythm against Simon on the baseline. He does a brilliant job of denying players like Berdych and Tipsy among others the angles of the court to work with.

Then again, such a limited game will obviously generate its fair share of bad matchups, look at how players with huge, reliable servers and who can finish points off quickly at the net like Tsonga and Llodra totally own him, the same for players who can outlast him in rallies (Murray, Djokovic, Nadal...).

Why is Pushmon a bad matchup for Janko?

Did you watch the match? Simon was counter-punching beautifully at times, stepping in to work Janko around with angles and open up the court.

By the third, it was Janko who took a lot off of his shots and abused his slice backhand in an attempt to leave Simon without any pace to feed off of. But I'm not even going to call him a pusher because it was an intelligent effort on his part.

It was some match... The last few games alone were exhausting to watch.

Simon was being a pusher most of the other matches. But this time he decides to bring 2008 form back a bit and mix up his paces and use his legs to work while tipsy tipped over and didnt recover. But overrall awesome.

If pushing were as easy as some MTF members make it seem, said MTF members would all be top 100 players.

This match was great to watch, both get criticised alot, but put on a good show.
