So it'll soon start. :yippee: I was really getting bored last week when Eurosport wasn't schowing any ATP tournament. Tomorrow draws will be out. Hope that Rafa will get good one. Last year he reached third round. Hope for better this year :bigclap:

hmmm....well, I think Tommy might not want to play doubles (unless he plays with someone else too...) He is probably concentrating on his singles and getting into the top ten. If you look at those guys, hardly any of them play doubles. Also, Rafa and Albert won a title already, so they might win more :D

In 4th set I was getting so nervous. I thought that would start to schout or something, but my mum was sleeping behind so I must be :tape: .
I was impressed with his energy. He was running to almost every ball. And, yeah, that "Vamos" was great. And I guess it help him a lot.
I'm sleepy right now, but I'm happy 'couse he finnally won and it was great match. Ouch, my fngers are hurting right now, I was keeping them really hard.
:p

This is interview he has done after match, he did it in English, he needed translator only few times. You can hear it here
http://www.australianopen.com/en_AU/news/interviews/index.html

And that's transcript. You can see it already and if not enjoy :D

An interview with:

RAFAEL NADAL

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. You worked very hard to even up in the fourth set. How were you feeling physically to start the fifth set? How were you feeling in yourself at the start of the fifth set?
RAFAEL NADAL: Yeah, when we in the fourth set the fifth set, I feeling very well. My physic is very well.
But when I change in the fourth game, I don't feel very good. I won this game, but my feelings is not very well because I am little bit tired.
But it's okay. He won the next three games, 4 3. He was play good these three games. And after he don't play nothing in the 4 3. Four mistakes in the 4 3. In the 5 3 I play a good game, and I can win the match, no.

Q. How did you enjoy the whole centre court experience?
RAFAEL NADAL: Yes, the last year I play against Hewitt in third round. I play very, very, very good match. And now today is surprise for me to play in the Rod Laver, no. But it's okay, I like a lot this court. I hope play in this court in two rounds more against Hewitt.

Q. You would love to get another chance to play him after last year?
RAFAEL NADAL: I hope. I have a tough match, hard match against Reynolds. I don't know him. He's playing well. He won against Pavel and Almagro. For sure is a difficult match. I always hope play very good this match, won this match. But if I won this match, for me is very good tournament. And after, after if I won this match, I have a nice match against Lleyton.
Last year I play good with him. I lost 7 6, 7 6, 6 3, but I have a chance. And now I only think about the next match.

Q. Do you know anything about Reynolds?
RAFAEL NADAL: I don't know nothing. I never I never watch. I don't know where is him. What is his ranking, you know?

Q. 238.
RAFAEL NADAL: Yeah.

Q. Have you always worn the long trousers on court or is that just a new thing?
RAFAEL NADAL: No, no. Only this year.

Q. Is it comfortable?
RAFAEL NADAL: Yeah, it's okay. The shorts is very fine? Very thin.

Q. The court, the speed, the pace of the court is to your liking?
RAFAEL NADAL: Yes, I like. Is not too fast, not too slowly, too. But the ball, when I touch the good bounce. I like. Yes, last year I play good here, and this year I am in the same round, in third round. Is my best result in the Grand Slam. I hope improving in this one.

Q. Do you ever have a five set match with no aces?
RAFAEL NADAL: Me, nothing ace? Yes, for sure. This year I am serving little bit better, but all my life, I have all matches with nothing ace.

Q. Are you worried a little sometimes that you use so much energy on the court that it's going to affect you for your next matches because you use up so much energy?
RAFAEL NADAL: No, I don't think so because all life I am the same, no. I think is my game, this one. I don't think.

Q. No problem?
RAFAEL NADAL: No, I don't think I have problems. If I lost, I think I lost for the game, not for the energy.

RAFAEL NADAL: Yes, I am. I am happy. I play the first set and the second set I think I play very well. In the final of the match, I little bit scared, but it's okay. Finally I have one breakpoint down in the 5‑2 ‑‑ in the 5‑3. I have matchpoint in the 5‑1, 5‑2. I don't have good luck in these two points.

But finally I can won in the 5‑3.

(Rafael switches to Spanish.)

TRANSLATOR: He hit a very good right hand in the deuce.

RAFAEL NADAL: And I can win the match.

Q. It looks like it's going to be Hewitt next round. You played him last year. Are you looking forward to that?

RAFAEL NADAL: Yeah. Last year I lost against him here, and I play in Australia and in Toronto. Here I lost 7‑6, 7‑6, 6‑3. And in Toronto I lost 6‑1 for me, 6‑4 for him, and 6‑3 for him, no? It's very, very difficult match, hard. But I am playing good. I am in the fourth round. Is my best result in one Grand Slam.

I have confidence with this match, no. I want play very good match. If I play very good match and Hewitt not his best match, I think I have one chance.

L. HEWITT/R. Nadal
7‑5, 3‑6, 1‑6, 7‑6, 6‑2

Q. Did you just run out of gas there in the fourth and fifth set? Is that what happened?

RAFAEL NADAL: No, I don't think so. In the fifth set, yes, I have problems with cramps. In the fifth set is decided for him.

But in the fourth set, I have a big chances. I have three times 15‑30, and in the 5‑5 I have the 15 ‑‑ yeah, in the 4‑4 I have the 15‑30. But I have one approach, the slice approach, and he touch one lob very, very good, and I can do nothing, no?

Today I don't play bad in the good moments, but he play very, very good in the best moments, and he win for that.

Q. Did you have leg cramps?

RAFAEL NADAL: Yeah, in the fifth set. Yes, I have cramps, yes.

Q. How hard is Lleyton to play when you go into a fifth set?

RAFAEL NADAL: No, especially difficult when he's in the fifth set. Today I have big chances in the fourth set, and right after I am tired, no? Not for him play better. For sure he play good the fifth set, but if he stay ‑‑ when I stay ‑‑

(Rafael switches to Spanish.)

THE INTERPRETER: It's a question of balance. If Lleyton was as tired as he was in the fifth set, maybe the balance would be different, in a different situation, that's it.

RAFAEL NADAL: But I think it's a little bit psychologic. When I stay too near to won the match, I can't won. He played very good the tiebreak. In the fifth set, he begin very good, and I can do nothing.

Q. Would you call it a two‑point match, the two mini breaks you lost in the tiebreaker? That was the difference?

RAFAEL NADAL: No, no. I don't know. In the tiebreak, it's not for two balls, no? He play well. I have my chance in one point when he return, when he serve the second serve, and I mistake the ball, no? When I do that, the chance is a little bit down.

Q. Do you think the experience was the difference maybe?

RAFAEL NADAL: Yeah, for sure. He have more years in that, no? He play a lot of matches in these characteristics. And me, I play a little bit, no?

But I am happy because I play good match, no? I play good match, and I have a lot of chance for a win. I am happy because he is No. 3 in the world, and I play the same him today, no? I am happy for that. If I play in this level, I can do important things this year.

Q. You and Lleyton play a similar sort of game. Do you find it frustrating playing someone like Lleyton?

RAFAEL NADAL: No, no. For me, no, we don't play the same, no?

(Rafael switches to Spanish.)

THE INTERPRETER: He said that we are not similar players, we are different. I think that I like more to attack the ball, and Lleyton is playing more defensive, maybe with more control.

But he has more shots, but that's it.

RAFAEL NADAL: But the difference I think he serve very, very better.

Q. What is your ambition for the French Open this year?

RAFAEL NADAL: No, is not especially the French Open. My mission for the French Open is play the French Open (smiling).

But, no, all ambition is stay in the ranking, the Top 20, no? Top 15 for me is my objective.

About fighting spirit that was the main point why he was my fave. I loved that he was never giving up and always fighting till the end. And I still think that's fantastic and great. But I don't like his behave on the court when he's palying. Sometimes it's really annoying. Those shouting, smilling when his opponet makes mistake that really piss me off today.

I was stuck in the garden with a Catalan guy who knows Escanellas another tennis coach as well and he was joking about Nadal's mallorcan accent and we were suffering in this match, ah that situation you were in makes it worse as I have said so many times.

Yeah but i hate it when they try so hard to pronounce names and they sound even more like tools than if they had said it the aussie way one example "JussTine Enin Ardennnnne" they sound like wankers :o

I sometimes here it when people in the crowd are supporting him, and it's just awful  I think the Dutch version (for people who refuse to speak with any foreign accent  ) is similar to the Russion one.

Ok, so those of us in America who are probably all saying it wrong for all these years, how do you say it properly? I say it "muh-rat" cuz taht's the way I hear it, but if that's wrong I can understand why you cringe. I hate how like 99% of people call Nicolas Kiefer "Nicolas" when it's pronounced "Nicola" so I feel the pain, and is why if I'm saying Marat's name wrong I'd like to know ;) :)
