Milos Raonic just announced that he has withdrawn due to a strep throat.

Raonic withdrew suffering from fever.
Commentator just mentioned it in the Berdy vs Falla match.

Except for the time last month when Milos blew him off the court in straights, right?

If it's strep throat, not just a cold, it's no joke. You don't want to do jack when you have that, especially in the humidity of Miami. And we all know my feelings about Raonic. Hopefully he gets better and doesn't have to have his tonsils out. That is awful.

Well if its not a 250 Milos aint interested :p Lucky break for Querrey.

Didn't have to beat anyone he hadn't beaten before to get to the final here. Wasted opportunity. He's not making London now unless he beats some Top 4 seeds at Majors...

He's not making London unless he makes some serious strides as a player with his consistency, anyway. It's a long season.

I blame him. A slight tickle in the throat does not affect your arms and legs. Mr Cocky never opens his mouth on court anyway. Clearly he does not want it enough. Sad.

Strep throat or tonsillitis would be a miserable thing to try to play through. I wonder if any tennis players have wound up having their tonsils out?

no one should be blaming milos for pulling out. Strep throat is just awful and not something you want to be playing through

Not really. Querrey owns Raonic.

Querrey does NOT own Milos Raonic their head to head is close 2-1. Also, Milos blasted Querrey the last time they played in San Jose 6-4 6-3. Also, this is a WALKOVER which means Milos does NOT have a loss on his record for this match neither does Querrey get the win.

What a stupid comment, Raonic is already in the top 16 in the world so clearly he has some consistency. Not just anyone can be a top 20 player. Some people on this forum seem to think being top 20 is easy and it is not. You've got to be a very good player to be in the ATP Tour top 20.

Yeah not having Raonic really makes this tournament a joke. He has like 2 masters QF's, was obviously a massive threat to win the whole thing.

You have to be in the top 8 to get to London, not top 16 or 20.

I agree that consistency is not Raonic's problem, it's just that he is not good enough.

Milos also said he had a fever, my goodness do you want him to collapse on the court? Miami is already a hot place, plus the man is sick he isn't feeling well. Smart move on Milos part to pull out from Miami it's a D list event anyway.

Maratand Milos is a Milos fan if you haven't noticed.

Yes Milos is a top 16 player, and yes he's that good but making the jump to the top 8 is a big jump and Milos isn't quite there yet. Nothing wrong at all with what MaratandMilos said.

And I think his post was referring to the fact Milos was born in Montenegro and now resides in Monaco.

It's always disappointing when a player is too ill/injured to play but I was picking Querry to win this one anyway. Querry is playing a lot better than he did in their last match when he struggled in the earlier rounds and he seems to know how to handle Raonic's serve.

And it's always disappointing when tards like Tiebreak spew their ethnic discrimination. He moved to Canada when he was 3, he's a Canadian citizen, he grew up and trained in Canada, he plays for Canada in Davis Cup, give me a break.

Raonic is Canadian just like Rusedski is British, I accept that. Some people may say that he has decided to dedicate himself to his adopted country because it makes financial sense. I would imagine being Canadian number #1 is highly lucrative - certainly more so than being the best player from Montenegro.

Of course, I would never hold such a cynical viewpoint....

Sure, but how about giving back to the country and the people that supported him throughout his life to get to where he is. I, along with many, would be more surprised if he turned his back on Canada and went to play for Montenegro.

In any case, it was always up to him, and he chose and that should be the end of it.

I agree. Strep throat or tonsillitis, with a fever, would be a terrible thing to try to play through. Good thing he is resting and trying to get well. Last year, they criticized Janko Tipsarevic for retiring near the end of a match in Paris when he was obviously unwell and had to have medical attention, What do people want-somebody to collapse? The heat alone, even if someone isn't sick, will do terrible things to people.
