Will Novak Djokovic be able to win a tournament on clay with Rafa Nadal this year ?

So everyone knows Novak Djokovic is the best on hard courts, just like Rafa is on clay, right ? But will Nole be able to defeat the great Rafa in a tournament on clay ?

I think Nole is going to want to snatch one win over Rafa during the clay season. Probably not Monte Carlo, maybe not Rome, surely Madrid is his best chance. If Nadal is 2-1 vs. Nole on clay this season going into RG, it will be good for Djokovic's confidence knowing he got Rafa once heading into the big one.

Of course, at this point, it is so far away, you never know what knees are going to do, who's grandparents might die, whose parents might get divorced, or if Federer can wag his finger and ruin the whole thing.

No amount of rain is saving Nadal from handing RG over to Nole this year.

What the rain was doing to the surface was the reason why Nole took over in the third/beginning of the fourth

It will be red clay, but it was also red clay in 2009, 2010, and 2011, and it was still shit.

Dry weather: Nadal 6-4 6-3 2-0, and then from 1-2* down in the fourth to 7-5
Rain: Djokovic 6-0 2-1

Rain will save Nadal again :rocker2:

No. The rain was way before the 2-0 in the 3d set. They were actually tied in the 2nd when it happened.

AFTER the first rain break Nadal not only won the 2nd set but he also was leading in the 3rd.

Then Djokovic started to dominate.

It takes a while before the rain starts to have any effect on the playing conditions. With the light/medium rain from the final, that is. The court isn't saturated from one drop of rain, but it is if the drizzle lasts long enough.

Normal playing conditions: All Nadal
Wet playing conditions: All Djokovic

Saying rain saved Nadal is asinine

Hard to say. Djokovic barely made RG final last year. Nadal could lose to some Zeballos type guy.

If RG is as fast as 2009-2011 even Muger will have a chance of serving an upset.

For sure Djoker will be preparing for RG this year like Rocky did to take out the invincible ivan drago. Djoker is stretching like a man obsessed every chance he gets. But then again I fear he may draw kohlshrieber or melzer again early.

if Nadal plays Barcelona, maybe he could w/d from Rome, then Djokovic will win it most certainly. Let's be honest, if Nadal doesn't play, he cant prevent Djokovic from winning everything.

Look at Djokovic's run after Nadal forfeited from the rest of the season :
SF in OG
Winner in Canada
finalist in Cincy
finalist in US Open
Winner in Shanghai
tank at Paris
Winner in London

Sure. At Madrid or Rome. Not so sure if at RG. Four meetings, only one set won and it was due to rainy conditions for the Serb. Djokovic almost lost to Seppi and Tsonga... For some reason, RG is Djokovic's worst clay tournament. He looks much better at MC, Rome and Madrid than at RG. Maybe RG clay doesn't suit him as well. I can see Djokovic winning a RG title during his career but not so sure it will be this year...
