Grigor in the US 2013xavihernandez 03-01-2013, 10:56 AM First Masters 1000 of the year. Grigor will play doubles with Frederik Nielsen and hopefully be seeded in singles :) Prodigy. 03-01-2013, 11:03 AM Go for the big time Grigor! kr1s71an 03-01-2013, 02:16 PM First Masters 1000 of the year. Grigor will play doubles with Frederik Nielsen and hopefully be seeded in singles :) I think he will be 100% seeded, because the only scenario that leaves him behind the line is if Rafa decides to play, Fognini beats Ferrer today and Anderson reach the final in Delray Beach. I don't think that all these three will happen, so Grigor will be seeded :) FedererBulgaria 03-01-2013, 10:11 PM Yes ,he has a great chance to be seeded.I just wonder in what form he is now ...we all remember whats happened after Brisbane :) Lets hope now he will be there to show all the guys who is the real deal once again :D xavihernandez 03-02-2013, 08:51 AM Ok he is seeded. Next week he will also reach a new career high of 31 in the world ranking. FedererBulgaria 03-05-2013, 08:29 PM So we will have the draw in 2 hours ! Cant wait FedererBulgaria 03-05-2013, 10:46 PM People just posted Dimitrov/Novak potential R3. Damn FedererBulgaria 03-05-2013, 11:01 PM So he got : 1R BYE 2R Kuznetsov or Q 3R Djokovic xavihernandez 03-05-2013, 11:07 PM I dobnt't think we have to look further than round 3... I don't like the whole draw (federer again with every opponent on his way he doesn't like and Grigor against Djokovic...) RandyE 03-06-2013, 12:02 AM I really like R2 for Grigor, but obviously it's about the toughest test you can imagine in R3 with Djokovic. Hopefully practicing with Roger and Sampras in recent weeks will pay dividends; well, he's got nothing to lose since he's not expected to win this matchup. First things first, we'll see how either of them is playing later this week. joekimiwong 03-06-2013, 12:11 AM the qualifier might be Gulbis... Ugh,15mins with rogi and who knows how little time training with Pete , I doubt he could get anything:( But I can still grasp that little hope=•= RandyE 03-06-2013, 04:37 AM Definitely wouldn't want to see Gulbis in the second round... Hypnotize 03-06-2013, 07:34 AM I saw Gulbis play last week and I would pick Grigor to beat him. It's a tough draw but he should just concentrate on winning his first match comfortably. If he can do that then he can go into the Novak match with confidence. He would have nothing to lose and these are the type of matches that make you a better player. FedererBulgaria 03-06-2013, 09:12 AM New Too Forum & Big Fan Of Grigor Welcome  nadejda 03-06-2013, 10:16 AM good luck, Grisho :) do your best  I am enchanted with his doubles perspectives as well :inlove: nadejda 03-06-2013, 10:17 AM New Too Forum & Big Fan Of Grigor :wavey: welcome :) arvind13 03-06-2013, 02:51 PM I feel gulbis vs grigor would be a mouthwatering prospect. Ace20 03-06-2013, 03:22 PM Thanks For the Welcomes, I Think Grigor can beat Gulbis, Christian who is Ryan little Brother who is 16 or 17 yrs old almost beat him the other day, and Christain game still not develop all the way so I think Grigor can beat him that if Gulbis is in his draw area Emiliq 03-06-2013, 08:24 PM New Too Forum & Big Fan Of Grigor :wavey:welcome sandstorm_bg 03-06-2013, 08:30 PM Hello all, I am also new member of the forum and fan of Grigor :). Grigor hasn't played for 3 weeks and we don't know yet how he will do. Still I think his chances to play the match with Novak are prety good IMO. And ebden is definitely better than karlovic :D Hypnotize 03-07-2013, 09:47 AM ugh, I don't know...Ebden is coached by Peter McNamara, Grigor's former coach, and Peter knows Grigor's weaknesses very well:( But anyway, let's just see who wins R1 match first and then we can discuss. If Grigor plays to his ability, he should be able to beat Ebden or Kuznetsov comfortably. Novak is great but Grigor is my favourite player and he's the reason I joined this MTF so I will definitely be supporting Grigor if they meet in R3. :worship: FedererBulgaria 03-08-2013, 09:40 PM So he plays Ebden, best of luck RandyE 03-09-2013, 02:44 AM Agree with Hypnotize - barring a mental meltdown Grigor should be able to move past Ebden without too much trouble. I also think Grigor's got be best game to match up with Novak up until the Semis (Murray). It might be another year until Grigor is at that level, but as long as he serves well he's got a chance. kr1s71an 03-09-2013, 05:42 AM Grigor and Nielsen won their first doubles match - 7-5 7-5 against doubles specialists Qureshi/Rojer. Next up - Marcelo Melo/Ivan Dodig. Hypnotize 03-09-2013, 11:08 AM Nice to see him win his doubles match and after a couple of weeks rest, it's a good way of shaking off the cobwebs before his single's match. At least he is winning the matches he is expected to, now he has to start beating the players above him. Grigor has the game to trouble Novak, he just has to prove he has the mental strength and self-belief to tough it out. joekimiwong 03-11-2013, 10:10 AM if grigor can hold his service games and keep his situation into tiebreaker, he may ge a chance riff 03-11-2013, 10:56 AM Novak has the best returns i expect a win for Nole but let's see Berba 03-11-2013, 12:54 PM he just has to prove he has the mental strength and self-belief to tough it out. this is where the problem is presently. i think he still doesn't quite believe he can do it against top 5. but i am sure it will change sooner rather than later. this year he will take at least one scalp. Winning a set would yet be a sign that he has improved and can be a threat the best players. xavihernandez 03-12-2013, 10:49 AM He will play the second match after 1 pm local time. FedererBulgaria 03-12-2013, 10:57 AM Yes,just after Sharapova lets hope he will feel like at home :D Davai Grishe Hypnotize 03-12-2013, 12:55 PM Hopefully the first two matches aren't too long so I can watch it. xavihernandez 03-12-2013, 04:08 PM I am pretty sure about that, Fish didn't play that good against Reynolds (doesn't have much power in his strokes yet) and should lose quickly against tsonga and sharapova never gives her opponenent more that 4 games a match in the first rounds ;) RandyE 03-12-2013, 06:03 PM In order for Grigor to win he will need to get a high percentage of first serves in - Novak returns better on the backhand side, so hopefully he'll go to his forehand primarily on first serves. He will also need to return to Novak's backhand side and try to keep the ball low - if he can do that consistently, he's got a chance. It's crucial that he doesn't lose his serve right away, otherwise Novak could steamroll him pretty quickly. Let's see if he can keep it close and somehow pull out the first set. Hopefully he took away from their last match that he can hang with Novak if he can stay inside the baseline - that will be key in the rallies. Once he has to play defense he's going to lose the majority of points. I'm getting pretty stoked for this one - hopefully he'll give Novak a good match! Hypnotize 03-12-2013, 08:30 PM I'm with you RandyE. Novak is the favourite and could easily run away with the match if Grigor let's him but Grigor definitely has the game to threaten him. He needs to serve well, stay focused and believe in himself especially at key points in the match. He needs to go in with the right gameplan and accept that Novak will put him under a lot of pressure and probably even break him. Those are the moments when has to stay positive and believe he can pull it back. Good luck tonight Grigor. :yeah: FedererBulgaria 03-12-2013, 10:00 PM OMG Grisgor`s match is about to start and the livestream site is FULL with many bulgarians! He shown that he can hang with the best and Top 10 player & IMO he will soon be a Top 10 player, but he have too learn not too let a match slip outta your hand so often, Hopefully he will rebound in Miami FedererBulgaria 03-12-2013, 11:44 PM Imagine if he plays Federer...he will not hit the ball in the court if he is near to win even a set !This is something serious i just hope all the team will take care xavihernandez 03-12-2013, 11:44 PM I think that he is much more capable of beating the best players than he believes himself. He could have beaten Murray, he should have beaten (a terrible) Djokovic, he beat Berdych last year. Let's hope he get's another match against one of the best players in miami, maybe again Djokovic ;) FedererBulgaria 03-12-2013, 11:51 PM As Sky Sports said The guy has no limits" ! I always thought that the best young guys are Tomic, Dimitrov and Harrison and this guy here is the best of them" ! All the big guys must be scary to meet him! xavihernandez 03-12-2013, 11:58 PM not right now :D at the moment he is like a bye for the top 4 or 5 ;) hopefully the will be scared of him at wimbledon MichaelKrep 03-13-2013, 12:03 AM Does anyone have an idea whether he is working with a sports psychologist at the moment? FedererBulgaria 03-13-2013, 12:12 AM It seems hasnt :D joekimiwong 03-13-2013, 01:23 AM seems great games before 5-3 in the 1st set...and then lost his concentration and confidence...the most thing that worries is that in the 2nd set there was no signs of fighting back in the match...really poor performance in the 2nd. RandyE 03-13-2013, 02:31 AM Yeah unfortunately I had a feeling that he would lose his nerves if he lost the first set in heartbreaking fashion - that was tough to watch, in particular the four double faults. He definitely isn't quite at Novak's level yet but he showed that he could hold his own. One thing I noticed was that he had no idea what to do once he lost the first set - it seems that he was only reacting at that point...signs of lost confidence and disappointment. If he can get those first serves in when he needs them he'll be much closer to pulling off a victory. Hopefully he'll get a nice draw in Miami. Hypnotize 03-13-2013, 01:04 PM oh oh I see the next crisis coming up after this match... Let's hope not. It's possible this loss may knock his confidence going into Miami but his team should really work with him to identify what happened and fire him up to do better next time. Losses like this where you are in command of a match are often the ones you learn the most from. They need to work on techniques for him to use the next time he is in a similar situation such as focusing on the next point, maybe taking a bit of extra time between serves even if it means getting a time violation. I like the speed Grigor plays at but it really worked against him when he was serving those double faults. That was the perfect time to let off some steam, towel down and regain focus. Instead he just rushed his serves and you could see the pressure building. The 2nd set was obviously disappointing but also quite understandable. It's hard for anyone to put that kind of situation behind them, especially a player like Grigor who rides on confidence. Added to that, Novak is the worst player to face in these situations as he excel at tightening his game and not letting players back into matches. It was a bad loss but there are still positives to take from it. He served and rallied well at the start of the match. If he can see this as a learning experience then it could help him in the future. If he lets it get him down then it could hurt him in the weeks ahead when he has an excellent chance to improve his ranking. xavihernandez 03-13-2013, 02:54 PM I don't see the second set that negative, too. I was actually surprised that he could reach the tie-break, did not lose it to 0 (as against Murray in Brisbane)and won at least a game in the second set. As Federer won't play Miami, Tipsarevic will be the number 8 seed, so I think he is the best possible draw in order to defend the 90 points from last year Hypnotize 03-13-2013, 03:10 PM He also benefited form some of the guys below him in the rankings like Fish and Paire going out so the only ones he has to worry about overtaking him are Anderson, Baghdatis if he wins the Dallas challenger and Gulbis if he wins a few more rounds so he stands a good chance of being seeded in Miami. xavihernandez 03-13-2013, 10:27 PM Anderson has overtaken him yet, but Federer won't play, so 33 would be good enough Emiliq 03-14-2013, 05:47 AM Anderson has overtaken him yet, but Federer won't play, so 33 would be good enough Actually 32 http://live-tennis.eu/ http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b533/emiliq1/GIF/The-point-delanneevuparsoncreateurVO-YouTube_zps280c74bb.gif Berba 03-14-2013, 05:51 AM the problems are clear. he just needs a psychologist to overcome this persisting problem. grisho is too emotional and he just got panic when needed to serve for the set. he was scared and in a hurry and that's why the 2nd serve was so risky. Here's Entry List (http://www.menstennisforums.com/showpost.php?p=13326226&postcount=1) kr1s71an 03-14-2013, 09:02 AM Anyway, no worries about Miami. He'll be seeded. Federer and Stepanek out. Here's Entry List (http://www.menstennisforums.com/showpost.php?p=13326226&postcount=1) Well Stepanek is behind him in the rankings, so he doesn't bother us at all :D Next Monday he will drop one place to #32 since Anderson reached the QF's, but with Federer out and no one that can trouble his spot this week - he will be seeded #31 again (if nobody else withdraws) :) nadejda 03-14-2013, 09:27 AM well I've seen this happening before so no that surprising at all, he lost his match last year at IW in the same fashion vs Ferrer 2&2. This time he at least got a good start and won more games. I am worried however of his team, which don't take this problem all that seriously. They should employ a sport psychologist and that has to be made immediately. This is a serious problem and if Grigor wants to improve anywhere above top 20 (because IMO his level now will be enough if he puts a good string of wins and reach it) he has to take this consultations. He just cannot go away mentally like that. This kind of totaly disconnection with what is happening on the court is scarry. It is not even that big of a match - just a master 1000 tournament. It is neither a GS QF or an ATP final (he has played that final with Murray much better)...This is ilness, he needs a specialist to help him... nadejda 03-14-2013, 09:38 AM I don't see the second set that negative, too. I was actually surprised that he could reach the tie-break, did not lose it to 0 (as against Murray in Brisbane)and won at least a game in the second set. As Federer won't play Miami, Tipsarevic will be the number 8 seed, so I think he is the best possible draw in order to defend the 90 points from last year oh and I don't see Tipsy all that wanted as an opponent, he is a bad match up for Grigor H2H is negative and matches were not even close. I would favore him more vs the likes of Berdych or Tsonga, than Tipsy. BlueLighthouse 03-14-2013, 09:52 AM I'm not too concerned about Grigor's mental weakness. It's not easy to get rid off but he (hopefully) will grow out of it. (See my other boy, Ernie, for example).   Grigor seems to be able to handle tough matches with players he believes he can beat: the non top-10. Except Berdych who Grigor knows he can beat so he goes for it without fear. He needs to be in the position to play them more often, QF, SF, F, and tries to beat them once, twice, etc. Having said so, I'd be worried if he couldn't do it this year or next year. Then we'll know that GTG is not enough. Emiliq 03-14-2013, 10:53 AM Before the match with Djokovic in Shanghai his coаch А.К.А.eurosport consultant said:"I expect Djokovic to win the turnament" And we expect this guy to believe in himself. I hope GTG will help him to be mentally stronger xavihernandez 03-14-2013, 11:55 AM I know that tipsarevic is a bad matchup for Grigor but I am not sure that tipsarevic will win his first round. ;) Ferrer is in bad form, too. But maybe it would be good for him to get one of the group of Djokovic, Murray or Nadal again. He has nearly never played them and could gain some experience. Hypnotize 03-14-2013, 02:47 PM well I've seen this happening before so no that surprising at all, he lost his match last year at IW in the same fashion vs Ferrer 2&2. I understand the calls for a sports psychologist especially as we have seen him drop serve many times when serving for a set or even a match but sometimes you have to figure these things out on your own and he will be a better man for doing it that way. He needs to identify what went on in his head when he dropped serve and work on techniques to cope better. His new team should know what they are doing and help him work through this problem. I guess we will find out where his head is at when he plays Miami. xavihernandez 03-14-2013, 04:56 PM I understand the calls for a sports psychologist especially as we have seen him drop serve many times when serving for a set or even a match but sometimes you have to figure these things out on your own and he will be a better man for doing it that way. If he can play with confidence against his likely R3 opponent, Murray then anything can happen. As with IW, he either has the chance to score an upset or learn from playing against the top players. He should also be looking for revenge from his last match with Murray. MichaelKrep 03-18-2013, 09:24 PM He said he hadn't slept after the Brisbane final. Here's his opportunity to get revenge. Djokovic is far harder to attack, while Murray offers a lot more. I think so as well. He played him in the final this year and he was serving for the set against Djokovic(despite he wasn't play well), so hoping this gives him a lot of confidence (it's easier to know you served for the set and to forget that game with 4df-s) to be stronger mentally because he has the tennis. BlueLighthouse 03-25-2013, 07:23 AM Murray thought Tomic was a little bit better than Grigor (result wise): After he defeated 20-year-old Bernard Tomic in Miami, 6-3, 6-1, Andy Murray is asked to compare the Australian with 21-year-old Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov. Murray will play Dimitrov, whom the Scot beat in the Brisbane final earlier this year, in his next match. Both youngsters have been said to have elite potential. “Grigor is probably a better athlete,” Murray told reporters. “But I think, like tennis IQ, Bernard knows how to play tennis. He has very good anticipation. He has great feel. Grigor has very good feel, as well. Bernard is a really big guy. He kind of hunches over a bit, but he's 6’4”, 6’5”. That can help, too. It’s tough to say who’s better. They have had similar results. Maybe Bernard, he's done better in the Slams and obviously won a tournament. Grigor has played well this year.” FedererBulgaria 03-25-2013, 09:38 AM Murray thought Tomic was a little bit better than Grigor (result wise): Apf thats why Grigor almost beat u,Mugrray :) really hope today u will loose from the "worse"player Mae 03-25-2013, 09:53 AM Not sure I agree with Andy, but I like him and Grigor both so The Match for me could be called a win-win situation or a lose-lose situation. Have no words...just feel all this ! I feel your pain, man, I really do. What he needs to do right now is get back out there, play a few weak 250 tournaments, try and get a win under his belt and just keep going. The technical side of his game is solid, he just needs to address the mental part and that happens either with age, when he gets more used to these situations, or with help from his coaching staff, which I hope he is getting. RandyE 03-26-2013, 03:47 AM You see it time and time again that players get really nervous knowing that they can close out a set against the top four. Once he gets a smaller tour title under his belt you'll see his confidence rise in these situations and keep his nerves. BlueLighthouse 03-26-2013, 06:36 AM At the beginning of the match, Robbie Koenig, the commentator, said that he talked to Magnus Norman and told him it was bad luck (for Grigor) to draw Murray so early. Magnus said "No, I'm glad. The more Grigor plays these guys, the more he realises how hard he has to work, how much more focus he has to be with his game. The sooner that happens, the better." BlueLighthouse 03-26-2013, 08:33 AM Andy's presser: Q. He was swinging pretty big, wasn't he? Weathered the storm in the first set. ANDY MURRAY: Yeah he did a similar thing when I played him in Brisbane, as well. I was hitting the ball quite short early, too, which helped him a bit with that. Also, it was obviously way cooler today and much slower conditions. The ball wasn't going as quick. I was leaving the ball a bit short. Once I started to improve my depth a bit I made it tough for him and he started to make mother mistakes after that. Q. When somebody has a bit of a double fault rash like that, do you almost feel you've earned that by pressurizing the serve? ANDY MURRAY: Yeah, I mean, it depends. Sometimes it can happen through pressurizing the serves; sometimes it happens through nerves; sometimes you can miss a couple of serves by a couple of millimeters. You know, there's not always a reason for it. But, yeah, today he probably got a little bit nervous, and that helped me. Q. With Dimitrov making a bit of a breakthrough, do you think he's really improving his game? Is he any better than when you played anymore Brisbane? ANDY MURRAY: He played very well in Brisbane. It was probably a better match I think in Brisbane than here. Yes, I mean, it's tough. It is tough to tell sometimes. It's very different conditions here. You know, Brisbane was almost an indoor court, as well, and it probably felt quicker, also. But I think he will play his best tennis on the faster courts because he has very good timing. He loses his slice a lot. He serves well. He's aggressive. So he will probably play his best tennis on the quicker courts. Hypnotize 03-26-2013, 09:26 AM Andy's presser: I'm fairly certain that should say "He uses his slice a lot. He serves well."
