Nation of Bhutan has banned all public smoking & all tobacco sales

For those in Bhutan too addicted to quit smoking, importation of tobacco
for personal use is allowed with a 100% tax, but must be smoked in the
privacy of a person's own home.

Comment on which other nations in the world could successfully ban
public smoking. :unsure:

Also, vote in the poll as to whether your own nation could pull this off. :awww:

It would be nice if all smoking was banned.

Bhutan is really strict, they also banned any wrestling from being shown in their country. :p

In Europe>> Switzerland, Belgium and Louxembourg could probably pull it off. I think.
Rest of the world>> Qumar probably. I don't think they smoke there, anyway.......

And, no, my country could NEVER pull it off....

Singapore probably could. They've banned chewing gum and will fine you for not flushing a toilet.
I don't care. I don't smoke tobacco.

Scotland has passed a law to ban smoking in public places from spring 2006. England and Wales will almost certainly follow suit. Somehow I don't think they'll ban the sale of tobacco though - the British government makes too much money in taxes from it.

Yeah...people in Greenland don't even know what smoking is..we fuck the erotically shaped iceburgs all day.

Maybe the state of California could do this ban (maybe they already have, for all I know). So many people have an anti-smoking attitude there that
they would be willing to make a citizen's arrest of a public smoker. :hatoff:

Seems like this ban could work in Scandinavia. When I was in Sweden
years ago, I did not see even 1 person smoking. Now, though, the
immigrant population has increased, so they may be real into smoking. :smoke:

Other nations which I think could pull this off: Sikkim, Singapore,
how about Canada, don't know about the Pacific Islanders. :toothy:

Is it just indoors or do they actually ban it on the street? That would be notable. I am proud of Ireland for leading the way.

Places in Australia/Sydney are starting, baning it in some public places (mostly eating areas).
I love the way smokers bitch about it "if they don't like it, they can move away"

Yes, that one is a great remark :p
I must admit it does please me to see smokers having to go outside when it's almost freezing, just to smoke a stupid cigarette. That makes me hope they only allow it outside, not even in people's homes

I voted 'No', cause I don't think it will be a success. Legally, they can pull it off. But there are enough idiots that will break the law.

i hope england puts a public ban coz i dont really wanna get rid second hand smoke (passive) for ever and when i go out, i come back smelling of other peeps fags! I just think its wrong for people to impose ill health on us, if smokers wanna kill themselves through this then its there problem but to make us ill as well is selfish

+ i doubt it will stick in england!

Once people find out how nice it is not to have stale smoke smell in public places, these laws are self enforcing. Even smokers like the surroundings better.

But, there are still isolated areas where there is still smoking. I wandered into a little cafe in a Vietnamese shopping center and it was full of smoke. Sort of icky. I had forgotten what things smelled like before.

I'm against smoking in indoor public places, but a total ban is not good. Atleast not a sudden one.
