Pauvre Nono to be on the alt list....

2005 just has to be better for him!

So who is going to the AO from here?

Heres the official entry list for the moment

Now every entry list with Grosjean's name is like a big present. Good luck, Sebastien!

And Arnaud... *no comments* the only thing is that there are enough wellknown names in 'Alternates'.

And... all time since I've been interested in tennis I've seen Lars Burgsmuller in Qualif. list. Now he's in the main entry list of AO. Yeah, times changes...

And its very hot ,its summer so good luck for the players as for those who will be in the AO, enjoy as much as you can!The australian crowd is also nice and it seems to have a good atmosphere at the AO, so enjoy! :)

as for us thoose who dont live in australia but in europe I think that eurosport will cover this event,I didnt follow last year all the AO because I passed exams, its too late!!but I will record the matchs that interest me.

I hope our boys won't go to the beach, after practices... what I read today in the newspaper scares me...poor young man, eaten by the great shark  I'm sure that if I go to Australia one day, I' won't try to go swimming, your beaches are too dangerous :scared:

(Marine, totally scared and obsseded by sharks since her childhood)

*waves* Hi richard gasquet!

I'm going to the Australian Open!!! Am taking my 2 oldest daughters and one of their friends. :)

I'm going on the 17th - Day 1 - so hopefully Seb will be playing/training. lol. The girls will be seeing a lot of Sebastien Grosjean that day and very little of anyone else. :)

Marine, my oldest daughter (14years old) is terrified of sharks too. We live on the south coast of Victoria, Australia, and she is currently learning to become a lifesaver with the local surf lifesaving club. As part of her training she has to swim out 100 metres. She told me she was too scared to because she was worried about sharks.
I told her there was very little chance of a shark being out there. Plus there are shark planes that fly over every so often.

Then the other day on the news she saw about the shark attack and was horrified. I think we're going to have a bit of trouble getting her out in the water tomorrow (that's when she goes for her lifesaving certificate). lol.

It is scary though. But not enough to keep me out of the water. It's 35 degrees celcius here today and I'm about to head down to the surf beach. :)

hehe no problem, michelle! ;)

LOL Marine, this is like the first time i've EVER heard of someone getting eaten like that!!! The odds that it will happen to you are very very very small!! No one likes Adelaide beaches neways  Other beaches down here are sooo pretty, if you come in Summer one day you MUST come to the beach!!

richard gasquet
12-18-2004, 10:45 AM
hi sammy! :wavey:

35 degree celcius! that s true that is not easy to support, one solution;going to the beach or swimming pools for those who are far away from it.
And in Australia, it seems to have beautiful beachs, but still dangerous with the presence of sharks.; scared?ME? :o

yes!!! :scared: I think swimming pool is wiser and less stressful because you still have fear of meeting a shark on the water. :help: :p

well I dont know exactly where are located sharks but sammy be careful :armed:

Personally know that there are more sharks at at a tennis tournament than at the beaches.... :) (sorry, that was a stab at humor, rather feeble as it was..)

Speaking of beaches, we just got word here that The Travel Channel has rated Naples, Florida (where I live) as having the top beaches in the United States for 2005!!! Finally some recognition where it is due! We don't have much in the way of waves, as we are on the Gulf of Mexico, but we do have very long stretches of nice soft and clean sand.

As for the shark issue, generally speaking, sharks are not interested in biting humans, as most shark attacks happen in murky water, where the shark (who happens to have the brain the size of a PEA) cannot distinguish fish from human. The odds of being hit by a car are far greater than getting attacked by a shark....so enjoy your trips to the beach and remember that your odds of getting struck by lightning are also greater than your chances of being bit by the shark.....

:) swim safe and don't forget the sunscreen!

richard gasquet
12-18-2004, 06:58 PM
Thank you for these informations about sharks and their relationship with humans :) but it still a little bizarre to know that you can meet sharks on the water.

Marine
12-18-2004, 08:14 PM
Not in France fortunately :) (no great white sharks anyway, oufffff)

That is true. And even if they do attack, it's only a nibble or two...very rare that they actually completly gobble you up!!

Awwww look at him.

(It's ok everyone, I am shit scared of sharks too...I'm just in a crazy mood)

Via
12-20-2004, 09:58 PM
how come we are discussing sharks at the aus open?

michelle is absolutely right about sharks vs cars. there are far far more people especially young people dying on the road, than get gobbled up by sharks. and people die of skin cancer too! that's a bigger danger on the beach!

guess what, humans are more dangerous than any other animal predators these days. not to mention sharks at tennis. (not funny, but to link back to the theme.....lol)

CLEMENT ET GASQUET DANS L'ATTENTE

yahoo sport

=> Arnaud and Richard wait for 4 withdraws, in the order to enter in the main draw. Otherwise they'll play the qualifs. Arnaud already asked a wildcard to the FFT (the french and australian federations have a "deal"), but in general they prefer to give it to a junior.

Via
12-21-2004, 11:22 PM
poor arnaud, he was a finalist only 4 years ago

but 4 withdrawals is highly possible :D

richard gasquet

it will be great if richard will not have to play qualifs and be directly in the main drawbecause the AO is a very difficult and long tournament, its a Grand slam so take a lot of energy but if there are not 4 withdraws, I think that he can pass the qualifs.

Well, we will see...

as for arnaud, thats quite obvious that this year WAS NOT his year ,he lost many matches and lost confidence, I hope him to come back

Via
12-22-2004, 10:44 PM
no one wants to play qualies if they can avoid it... grand slam or not... i don't think they get paid for qualie matches?? and definitely no points.

arnaud has to get used to playing qualies now (i suppose richard has been used to it for the last two years) i want to do whatever i can as a fan to cheer on him.... (the first strategy however is to skip adelaide...... lol what a great fan *sarcastic* )

prazz_m
12-23-2004, 11:55 AM
the sad and depressing thing is that in a way i'm kind of looking forward to arnaud playing the quallies coz there's more of a chance that i might actually see him win a match  i guess that's the only positive way of looking at it

It looks like Arnaud will make it to the Aussie Open main draw as Jiri Novak decided to skip the tourney. :D

From sports.fr:

what i think is good for arnaud? you mean, i should go up to every player i see in sydney with a stick and break their legs, forcing their withdrawal?? lol... or do you want me to entertain arnaud at home if he doesn't play???
