Your favorite year in tennis since 1995?

Which was your favorite year of tennis since 1995?

-From 1995 to 1997, it was pretty much a rivalry between Sampras and Agassi, especially Sampras who was mostly #1 during those years;)!

-From 1997 to 1998, Rafter was also a main contender, winning 2 US Open titles;)!

-In 1999, it was Agassi's year:)! Guga was among the best ones too:)!

-In 2000-2001, Guga, Marat, Andre and Lleyton all fought for the #1 spot and won slams during those years:)! Guga was #1 for almost all 2001:yeah:!

-In 2002, Lleyton was dominating most of the year, winning Wimbledon and being #1 all the year! Johansson and Costa won the first 2 slams, and Sampras played his final match in the US Open final against Agassi!

-In 2003, it was the arrival of the new balls, Ferrero, Federer and Roddick fighting for the top spot! Andre won the AO and was #1 for a brief time;)!

-In 2004, it was the Federer year;)! No need to explain more;)!

My choice is 2001:)!

1999, 2000, and 2001 were all great years. There was a wonderful mix of the old and new, with Rafter, Agassi, and Sampras battling it out on one end, and the younger generation emerging beginning with Safin and Hewitt. Guga was in form, and Ivanisevic pulled out that incredible Wimbledon victory. I voted for 1999 because it was Andre's amazing comeback year. :worship: Also, women's tennis was really fun in those three years, with Hingis, the Williams sisters, Davenport and Capriati all in great form.

a tough one... either 1999 with Tompa in the Aussie Open final, or 2003 with Rainer in the Aussie Open final... hmm...

Hard to say what year I did like most, in all years you got tournies you like more or less then other years. I have to say that I did really like this year, but it is not my fav coz I like it when players have to 'fight' for their victory. Even while it is my favorite player. I did like the year of Ivanisevic a lot as well. Well with the year of Ivanisevic I mean the year he did win Wimbledon, that was just fantastic. Just that tournament made the whole season great :D

2001, Year of Goran's Wimbledon and lots of my faves were playing well this year. Also Fed beating Sampras at Wimbledon, Guga winning 3rd French etc.. After that I would pick 2003 as Tim won his only TMS so far then. However I've loved all those years for different reasons and so this question was quite tough to answer, but those were years I particularly enjoyed as a whole.

Obviously 04 was a great year for me, but 97 and 98 were also years that I wont forget too soon, as Rafter played some of his best tennis in those years. :)

2000, I think I don´t have to explain why, or?
But 1997 comes close behind, because Magnus won
his first title in Bĺstad and Sweden won the DC against
the US, what a great thing :)

1995- but for me the reason is also personal. It was the year I became interested in tennis starting at that amazing AO!

You also had 3 people exclusively win all GS and TMS events barring Hamburg and TMC- those are of course Sampras, Agassi and Muster. It was the year the Sampras-Agassi rivalry reached new heights and started to become legendary. It was the year of Muster on the clay with that amazing streak, and of course despite all the trouble in his personal life with the illness of his coach Sampras still managed to de-rail Agassi from the top to finish his 3rd consecutive year ranked #1 winning two slams in the process :worship: :worship: :worship:

2002. For the simple reason that was the year that I first saw Alex Bogomolov play. Hard to believe it's only been 2 1/2 years.

12-26-2004, 09:15 AM
2004! I love it when The Williams Sisters AND Andy Roddick don't win Grand Slams!

12-26-2004, 09:51 AM
2000. VERY competitive year. Agassi, Sampras, Safin, Guga, Norman and Kavelnikov making amazing tennis matches :worship:

2003 in a close second place. Roddick vs Federer vs Ferrero :)

2003 - the year that both my favourites at the time won their first slams.. and it was the same event. Doesn't get much better than that :p
