I watched the skating tonight, well, Plush was the best, Steph was ok, but don't understand the third place, I have always liked the Canadian skaters, but Weir didn't deserve the 5th place. I don't understand why Joubert collapsed, cause he could have won a silver medal. Well, only one skater did a good program, Plush even if he made a double flip at the end  Congrats to him :yeah:

Plush was good, not his best ever. Dont think he deserved the marks that he got but he def deserved gold. He's miles ahead of everyone. I'm a big Lambiel & Joubert fan, I'm so happy for Stephane, yes he fell but his programme was good and over tonight and the SP, I'd say he deserved silver. Weir was a bit harshly marked but then again, he didn't go for much I thought. Brian... :sobbing: He just dosent seem to have it like he used to. I love the LOTD programme but when push came to shove he didn't have it. Gutted for Evan, I didn't see his SP but if he'd done anyway better bronze and maybe even silver could've/should've been his cos he was awesome tonight. Buttle...I honestly don't know how he sneaked in with a bronze but hey thats the marking system for ya. I don't like it personally. I don't think it's a fair system.

I didn't like the lack of emotion from Plush, wee Lambiel was in floods bless him!

Figure skating: Weir misses the bus and the medals
Feb 16 2006
By Elizabeth Piper

TURIN, Feb 16 (Reuters) - U.S. figure skater Johnny Weir, who crashed out of the medals in the men's competition at the Olympics on Thursday, said he was late getting to the rink because bus schedules had been changed, leaving him no time to squeeze into his "sausage suit".

"I missed the bus because they changed the schedule and I was late getting here," the angry and frustrated skater told reporters. "I never felt comfortable ... I wasn't feeling 100 percent ready."

Weir, who was placed second going into the free skating programme but missed many of his jumps and ended up fifth, said he would blame the mix-up on someone else but maybe he should have checked the bus times.

He raced to the rink in a car, a little bit flustered, taking to the ice around 10 p.m. for the medal contenders' final warm-up.

"I got here at around 20 (minutes) after nine and that didn't leave me much time. I mean I have to squeeze myself into a sausage (suit)," he said.

"I didn't feel my inner peace."

Oh yeah guys, shocking news - Plushy told to Gwendal Peizerat on Eurosport that he will continue.  He said he was 20 pts better than others so he will just keep going. I wonder if he's serious about it though. I very much doubt.

And yes, I must agree that Godfather is not my favourite Evgeni programme either, plus last night he seemed, at some points, during the programme, a bit confused, but I think he was quite overwhelmed by the situation himself, and you could read that on his face. He knew the aim was so high, and that he had to reach it! I've also seen him perform that program better, more lively, more expressive, but again, I think emotions were there inside him as well, not just for the others!
All in all, I believe Evgeni skated at about 80% of his potential, and when he does it 100% he's like...anything BUT boring, he's exceptional, he's the reason why i've loved this sport in the first place!

haha my bf was so sweet, he's a total admirer of Evgeni, he just kept saying how Evgeni's body, proportions, the way he holds his hands during the whole program, the expresivity of his gestures are so unique.. I'm glad he thinks that without me saying all of those things :)

Pluchy is one of the unique faces in figure skating, along with Yagudin and a few others before them that made history in this sport. I agree that other competitors were good as well, last night, but i wonder how many will put their "fingerprints" on figure skating like Pluchy, Yagudin and the other giants of fs did...

I'm so proud of my funny, "big-nosed":), talented lil' boy:)

Russia's Plushenko plays it safe to clinch figure skating gold By Randy Harvey

TURIN, Italy - Even if Johnny Weir had skated his best Thursday night, he wouldn't have challenged Russia's Evgeny Plushenko for the men's figure skating gold medal. Plushenko's lead after the short program two nights before was too commanding, his performance in the free skate too steady, if less than brilliant.

But Weir, of Newark, Del., never even gave himself a chance for the silver medal that had been his to lose after the short program. He forgot to check an updated bus schedule at the athletes' village and arrived at the arena later than he likes, left several important elements out of his program and then stormed off the ice like he had someone to blame other than himself.

He couldn't blame the judges. They gave him the sixth-best score for the long program, dropping the U.S. national champion to fifth overall. That was one place behind Evan Lysacek of Naperville, Ill., and two ahead of Matt Savoie of Peoria, Ill.

It was the third time in the last four Winter Olympics that U.S. men have failed to win a medal. Since Brian Boitano's victory in Calgary in 1988, U.S. men have won two medals, a silver by Paul Wylie in 1992 and a bronze by Timothy Goebel in 2002.

Meantime, Russia continued to dominate. Plushenko's win was the fifth straight for a skater from either the former Soviet Union or Russia. Plushenko, who had more than a 10-point lead over Weir after Tuesday night's short program, finished with 258.33 points, the highest ever scored by almost seven points.

That was an astonishing 27.12 points better than Swiss silver medalist Stephane Lambiel's 231.21 and more than 30 points ahead of Canadian bronze medalist Jeffrey Buttle's 227.59.

The silver-medalist in 2002, Plushenko frontloaded his program with his most difficult combinations - a quadruple toe loop-triple toe loop-double axel and a triple axel-double toe loop. From that point on, he skated cautiously, as if it were a foregone conclusion that the gold medal belonged to him. It did, of course.

Not that it mattered, but none of the other medal contenders skated well.
That was particularly true of Weir. It was clear almost from the moment he started that he was not at his best. He chose not to attempt a quadruple jump, two-footed a triple axel and omitted the last three planned jumps from his program.

He blamed transportation officials for changing the bus schedule. He managed to get a car to the arena and arrived only 40 minutes before he skated, at least 20 minutes later than he usually likes to be there. He said he then had difficulty fitting into his tight costume and never got comfortable. He finished with 216.63 points.

"I didn't feel my inner peace," he said. "I didn't feel like my aura was white. My biorhythms were off. I was black inside."

The U.S. skater who had an excuse to be off was Lysacek, who came down with a stomach flu Wednesday and considered withdrawing as late as the bus ride over to the arena last night. He had fallen in the short program and been ranked 10th, but he improved six places with a long program judged third best. His total score was 220.13.

"It's hard because I dreamed about the Olympics for probably upwards of a decade," Lysacek said. "That didn't include coming down with the stomach flu and having needles in my arms and being basically in a coma for a day or falling in the short program. But it kinda became about something a little different, about courage."

OK, I don't want any more controversy over here but how these guys last night on Eurosport said Evgeni being (perhaps) the greatest EVER.... It kinda disturbed me.
I mean they haven't forgotten about Yagudin yet... all of a sudden? ;)
I would still say Yagudin in SLC was as perfect as it can be. Whatever the new scoring record for Evgeni might be.

Ok, someone explain to me how a guy that 2 years ago had no problems with quads now cant even land one corectlly?

well hes his reaction:

if u can understand french woohoo but not i try and translate in a mo!

I know she was talking about her. And I was only trying to put things into perspective. If you like someone, you don't stop supporting him just becasue he failled once or twice. Of course, if you really like that someone.
Oh, i never said that. I will always support him no matter what, but it would be nice if I could get less involved with mens fs :p

Just to make things clear: I am really disapointed in him but that doesnt change the fact that he is and WILL BE my fave skater.
