Nope, not a Britney fan! She's still making new cds??? I used to loooove the Backstreet Boys in middle school, though:rolleyes::lol:

I chatted with Kunitsyn in a car about his home town, and Mannarino was the lord of all the waters and I had a crush on him

Haha, so random...I love dreams:)

but hopefully I've have more luck with some of my other applications. Thanks for asking though!
Are you graduating from college soon and looking for a real-life job?

What video is this, I'm assuming not Hall and Oats Bren?
I'm not a big Britney fan really, I do like her though and want her to get better, I just feel terribly sorry for her. She was sexualised at far too young an age and I think it messed with her head. If there was ever an advert that was ant-fame, it's her. Her performance on x factor was woeful, her eyes looked dead, she mimed and just walked about the stage. When Dermot tried to ask her questions, all she said was "it's awesome". She's such a lost soul. I think aswell, the poor girl has had her children taken away from her and that is something that she will never get over. Her own mother has a hell a lot to answer for IMO.
As for father Christmas, I never believed, old cynic that I am (even as a child). My Mum told me at quite an early age that he (Jo, Don't read this bit, look away now!!) wasn't real. But then one year when I stayed with my cousins, their dad dressed up as santa and left presents in our room and I remember thinking then "Maybe I'm wrong and he is really REAL". I must admit that was the most magical feeling but I soon realised it's one of the fantasies of childhood. I've only just told my eldest that the Easter Bunny's not real.:o
Honestly, the look on her face, :( it was like "you've been lying to me all this time". Kids are so accusatory!!

I loved Take that when Robbie was with them and Love them now sans Robbie. There is something about Robbie Williams that reminds me of Richie, I think it's the jawline. Gary Barlow is so much better looking now than he was when he was younger.

That's so sweet!:awww: I had a similar experience. I woke up in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve when I was 4 or 5 and though I heard tinkling bells outside my window, and swore I saw a red light (aka, rudolphs nose). It was probably just a light on a car, but I was soooo excited and thought Santa was at my house:)

Yeah, that's because I was probably too obsessed with them:lol: I am so bad about following new stuff. I don't even know the names of any movies in the theaters right now! Edit: Oops, I do remember Twilight is out because my sister is obsessed with it

Robbie's settled down now, he lives in the states and has got himself a good woman (not all showbizzy or pornstar, listen up Richard!) and he's got his head together now. He is another troubled soul, like Britney, fame at too young an age, he was only 17 when it all started. Did you like Take that Bren? Sweet, innocent Richie with the Jaws of Death... That blog was funny - no surprise about Dimma and Haas but sort of funny to have Richie in the company of those two. Guess I always knew he wasn't as innocent as he looked (they never are) and guess I'm not really surprised that he, like most men seem attracted to the "porn star" look -- so much for him and Bartolli.

The thing that made me laugh most about the blog was how she called him a "media darling" - since when has he ever been a "darling" to the media - they like to trash him but darling, no way.

I'm starting to feel like a tabloid writer. How many more days until TENNIS starts???? Although I'm sure we in the U.S. will not get any tennis coverage until AO and even then most of it is at an ungodly hour. Maybe THe Tennis Channel will come through with some of the early Australian tourneys or a good on line stream.

Work is SLOW again today. Unfortunately we will get REALLY busy in another month or so and stay that way for most of the spring - just when tennis gets going.

She probably was - I'm a bit dense at times.

And I'm sure he was a media darling at age 9, he was such a cutie and couldn't possibly have pissed off anyone at age 9. I saw a video somewhere on here of him at about age 12-13 and although I couldn't understand a word he said, he looked and sounded like a darling then as well, actually looked at the camera, smiled a lot and wasn't even very figety unlike now where sometimes I just want to scream at him - sit STILL, just like a 5 year old.

In french it's a very affectionate sentence.

Amira, the one thing I've never understood (forgive me if I'm wrong) the verb AIMER can mean to like and to love can't it? so what's the difference between saying you like something or you love it? As with Je t'adore, there's a greetings card in England, where there's two mice sitting in armchairs and the boy mouse says "Je t'adore" (so she thinks) and the girl mouse says "it's so nice when you speak french" and then the boy mouse says "No, I said SHUT THAT DOOR, I'm cold". Probably not that funny and you need to see the card to understand it.

What do you want to do Jo? I stayed on at school to do A-levels but didn't go to uni due to family stuff and I really regret it. I wanted to go and do languages but ended up in a dead end job in banking, which I hated. I really wished I had kept up my languages because the minute you stop using them you forget them so quickly. Hello External Journey :wavey:
Thank you. I have a hangover today and haven't had one of those in ages!
[QUOTE=Tess Gray;V, how was your party?:D
It was really nice, my friend had turned 30 and the food was lovely (a major part of any party for myself!) and I was drinking Baileys with ice which is my favourite tipple and by about 11 o'clock, I realised I'd drunk nearly the whole bottle. Needless to say, I'm in my tracksuit bottoms today, hair scraped back, no make up (frightening to small children and animals) and not setting foot outside the house today. The funny thing was I wasn't that drunk, just merry but then I probably wasn't the best judge of that last night. :o
Poor Tess, there is so much cold and flu here in England, everybody I know is ill (my hubby is unwell and not just man-flu, it's a proper cold, bless him). have you managed to avoid any cold Jo?

What do you want to do Jo? I stayed on at school to do A-levels but didn't go to uni due to family stuff and I really regret it. I wanted to go and do languages but ended up in a dead end job in banking, which I hated. I really wished I had kept up my languages because the minute you stop using them you forget them so quickly. I envy you in some ways Jo, but having said that, know how scary it can all be. (I was such a nervous Nerys on my first day at work)

I want to go into actuarial consulting. I know it sounds boring but I think it'd be perfect for me! :o (don't know what that says about me though! ) what are you studying at college now? is it something you have always wanted to do (and would've if you'd gone to uni?) or is it a new interest? :)

Tess  get better soon. :) I had a bad cold a month or so ago Vicky, and this week I've had a sore throat and a little bit of a sniffle but thankfully it hasn't fully developed (yet!) :) I always get ill around Christmas time though so to be honest I'd rather get it over and done with now! ;)

Glad you enjoyed the party, it must be nice when you have the opportunity to go out, I'd imagine when you have young kids the parties are few and far between. :)

Hi Jo,I know I may be dense but is actuarial consulting to do with insurance?
We don't get that many opportunities to go out without the kids as I don't like to keep asking for babysitting favours but last night they came and there was lots of other children there (they were all dancing to highschool musical in the living room) so it was really nice for them too.
I'm now training to be a teaching assistant, I've volunteered before in schools and really enjoyed it and it fits in around my own children, which to be honest is my main priority. I did think a few years ago that I'd like to train to be translator but at the time, all these translatory programmes came out on computer so I thought, Oh, that's probably not a good job choice. But now, having used Google translate myself and seeing the ridiculous riddle like transaltions it gives you (it makes me cry with laughter at times) I might reconsider!

it's either insurance or pensions. :) I'm quite impressed that you know that much to be honest, most people don't have a clue so don't worry about being dense! I just didn't want to bore you by going into too much detail! think I'm going to go for the insurance side though.

aww, it's nice that your kids went too, I think if I had kids I'd be like you and not want to leave them behind too much so when you can take them with you it's perfect!

We've been doing a little bit of translating in my french class recently and I have to say I think it would drive me insane if it was my job. There are so many times when I read a sentence in French and know exactly what it means but just cannot put it into english! our class spent about 20 minutes discussing th best way to translate just one sentence, it's really quite tricky! :sobbing: but yeah, online translators can be hilarious!

Mince pis are sweet Lauren, it's called mincemeat what's in them but it's all currants, sultanas and suet (a fat to make it stick together). They are sprinkled with sugar on top and are so yummy. We have them with cream, custard or icecream.
I used to like pork pies but over here they put a clear jelly in with the meat and pastry and I don't like that, it's all slimey!

I love French and Saunders, the other one I like is where they do spoofs of "Gone with the wind" and "Whatever happened to Baby Jane". "The Exorcist" one is funny too, although creeps me out a bit as I watched the actual film when I was 13 round a friend's house and had nightmares for weeks. I eventually told my Mum and she went spare. I really wasn't ready to see a film like that and still don't like horror films to this day. I really hate violent films aswell, the scenes stay in my mind. I like comedies best and chick flicks, much to my husband's distaste.

Tess Gray
12-07-2008, 08:56 PM
I'm not that much into horror as well. I like action movies though. Most of all I like 'true stories'. Soo much drama, I love it:D And offcourse Chickflicks and romantic comedies.

You hubby is into the action genre?:p

reggie1
12-07-2008, 09:08 PM
Yeah, he loves a good war film, I don't mind them as long as they're not too violent because they can be very moving. The most moving war film I've ever watched is "schindler's List". There's parts of that film that I will never forget. I also love old black and white films and the old stars, they all seemed so much more glamourous I think. I suppose black and white films always look stylish.

Tess Gray
12-07-2008, 09:22 PM
I think I loved Sohpie's Choice the most. And a totally different genre: Billy Elliot. That was such a moving film! I was sort of crying in front of the tv when I first saw that one. Black n white movies are pretty, but too boring for me :o

Also, you may be forced to spend it with relatives you don't like out of duty. I think for women, christmas can be tough as we have such a lot to do. Jo, aren't you still a kid?!
Anyway, don't be in too much of a rush to go and do all mature grown up things, you make sure you have lots of fun before you settle down and have responsibilities. As for living at home, I know what you mean, I got to a point where I just couldn't wait to leave home and as much as it's lovely having your own home, own life and independence there will be times when you'll look back and think, it was nice to be at home, have no real housework to do, spend my money on things that I actually want rather than need (well, we are girls so if we want it we need it, I suppose) and just not have that pressure of running a home. Don't get me wrong I love my life but I think for a woman everything changes when you have a home and children, mentally we are so different to men, men just carry on regardless. They are not programmed like us.(and it's like having an extra child). So I would give this advice to any young girl, Have fun, (but always be safe :armed:), enjoy your youth (if you are in a position to) and don't rush into responsibility. It's funny because all my friends who are my age with a home and kids say the same thing.

I'm not a kid! :ras: ;) But don't worry, I was only joking and I am in no rush to have children. I need to get a decent job and, more importantly, find a decent man (who will marry me) first! ;) I do love kids but I know it's a lot of responsibility. As for the living at home thing, I've been pretty independent since I've been at uni so that's not an issue for me. I try to help out at home and stuff anyway so it's not like I just go home and do nothing, it is lovely to be somewhere where there's constantly food in the cupboards though! But I'm looking forward to living in a nice flat/house (not some crappy student place) and earning hopefully enough to pay the bills and still treat myself occasionally!

okay good:p You'd scare me if that was the only reason

I was just reading through my 358 (!) english words I have to study for friday, and there was the word 'asset'. And I looked at it and I was like: that looks so familiar. I mean, I've seen that word before but there was something about it... and then I realized it was my name spelled backwards:lol: I had never noticed that before:lol:

McSteamy, Safin - either one would be fine with me. Actually I saw McSteamy on David Letterman too - sounds like I always watch the late night talk show but actually I've probably only seen it about 3 times this whole year and just my luck a hottie was on it each time. Anyway Eric Dane was so not like his character McSteamy, he was really nice and down to earth and not at all like the ultimate "player" he is on Grey's(or like Safin). He's been married to the same woman for a while and they have a couple of kids.

The only other time I saw David Letterman this year was when the beautiful redhaired woman who played Addison on Grey's and now has a spin off show was on. And she too was so different from the sophisticated, cold Addison.

After this nice discussion, all of us should have pleasant dreams tonight!

Totally agree Tess, I don't like Speedos, mens' bits and pieces are not attractive and the looser the clothing in that area the better as far as I'm concerned. I always remember when I was on holiday in Tenerife many years ago with my friend, there was a German guy on the beach (he was toned and tanned to be fair to him) but OMG, he may as well not bothered to wear anything. He had on the briefest pair of speedos, multi coloured striped ones just to add to the effect, I have ever seen in my life and it was likecar crash t.v, nobody could take their eyes off of him. It wasone of those things where you didn't want to look, but couldn't help yourself. Needless to say, we didn't want the sausage sandwiches in our picnic come lunchtime.

I completely agree Almira, I thought he would feel the benefit after not playing for such a long time and thought that all of his physical problems must have healed. I know when I used to play lots of tennis, if I stopped playing for a few weeks, all the callouses on my hand (yes, it was lovely) would soften and I actually could get blisters when I started playing a lot again. So I guess it COULD happen but I always thought it was strange that it happens to him so often.

Hope ALL Richard's aliments are gone in a few weeks and he is 100% for Australia. It sounds like the injuries were not as bad as it first sounded and perhaps his withdrawal from the French Masters was just a precaution - let's hope!

That picture always makes me laugh, he has a "naughty little school boy" expression on his face

Well we know what a devil he really is :D ...

I LOVE the sweater he is wearing in that photo but I only saw it on him for that one tourney. He was giving Roger a run for his money in the fashion department with that sweater but he seems to like the hoodies more.

you're probably right schu, it can happen that starting again to train hard after a long rest, could cause some body problems and yeah we just has to hope he will get better as soon as possible in order to make his preparation looking not that bad.
Reading Peyre few comments, he really seems determined to make richard ready and make him work hard for that.

Our Richie, the Fashionista, surely not!
But then he goes and spoils it all by wearing that Lacoste number for 2009 as seen on the photo thread :silly:

no comparison, straight sets-victory for "Lacoste". :p

Seems as if I am the only defender of the hoodies. ;)

I like the hoodies, he is much more hoodies than cardigans or "cardis" as we call them in England. "Cardis" are for Grandads!

True Cardis are for Graddads but that's what was so cool about this one it's not a cardigan - it's a half zip.

Cin just posted a bunch of photos in the photo thread of him in THE sweater - I'm also techno retarded and can't paste the pics here - but I give it a thumbs up. Nothing wrong with hoodies but every once in while the boy needs to shed that little boy image and look like a man with his clothes.

EDIT - I pasted the PIC!! YEA ME!!

I'm awake because my mom ran in my room and started screaming. And I made a snow little person... not a snow midget. He says it's more politically correct. :p

Schu -- yes, Richie looks manly in that picture. He looks like a rugged explorer fresh off a new adventure. :p
