yes you are right lauren!
although if she just smashed it and its not broken or sprained, compression is not necessary because it will only make it hurt more :p
but elevation is good because then blood rushes away and your body doesnt release the stupid liquid from the blood that goes to a spot where there is pain and settles in, that results in swelling

Hello Vicky, how are you? :)I'm fine thank you Maria, I've got a bit of spare time this afternoon as my eldest is at football training and my youngest has gone to a friend's for tea.

I'm watching some of Richard's match against Ferrer and I didn't realise it at the time (I was stressed watching him) but Richard really swore a lot through it and the commentators had to keep apologising as you could hear it really clearly. I think some people think of him as this prudish  and he clearly is not

True, you did tell me about the ice:lol:

BTW, If you want to use the 'godver teringzooi' then you have to pronounce it correctly, which probably is going to be really difficult for you cause of the dutch 'g'

I may be generalising but Dutch people on the whole usually do speak English very well, I think the Dutch and the German are two of the best, from my experiences and what I've heard.

Aw you poor thing. First your toe and now you get wet  Still, look on the bright side, you got off classes early! Yeah I had a really nice walk. We drove out to the beach and then went for a walk on the beach. Its really warm out actually. I posted some pics of my dog on Facebook if you weren't here when I posted them for Maria here one day ages ago

Eimear O'Mahony
03-10-2009, 06:24 PM
Sorry hun, just had a bite to eat myself and didn't get a chance to say goodbye. Talk to you when you get back from dinner :) I'll do some research on tennis players who smoke  I have a feeling Gilles does because his teeth sometimes look like they've got cigarette stains on them

Eimear O'Mahony

Oh I LOVE Colin Farrell. His accent is INCREDIBLY sexy

Eimear O'Mahony
03-10-2009, 06:29 PM
Apparently Nadal likes a smoke ... can't say I'm all that shocked because any Spanish people I ever met all smoked like god knows what!!! Tim Henman also smokes which shocked me I must say!

Back! Golovin smokes?!:speakles: Had no clue...

Eimear O'Mahony
03-10-2009, 06:46 PM
Apparently so judging by those pics  I can't find any other info on tennis players who smoke. I'm sure there are a few who do just like in any other walk of life you have the smokers and the non-smokers

Tess Gray
03-10-2009, 06:48 PM
I know David Ferrer smokes, but I dont think there are pics available.

Eimear O'Mahony
03-10-2009, 06:49 PM
Most Spanish people smoke so I'm not entirely shocked. I'm sure all the Spanish players smoke. How do you know Ferrer smokes? Have you seen him?

Tess Gray
03-10-2009, 06:50 PM
Anna kournikova is a smoker, she started smoking when she was on the tennis tour and I believe still smokes today.

It's in the comments below the Tati pics... I didn't know she smoked.

Eimear O'Mahony
03-10-2009, 06:52 PM
I'm not surprised by Anna to be honest ... I think it is a shame if professional sports people smoke ... I mean they do their best to be fit and healthy on court and they ruin it by smoking. It wouldn't surprise me at ALL if Gilles smoked. Santoro does apparently. I doubt Richard does and I'd be shocked if Jo did. Of the musketeers I'd reckon on Gilles and Gael to be the smokers

Tess Gray
03-10-2009, 06:52 PM
No he actually admitted it himself... In an interview that was posted on GM a year ago or something.

Eimear O'Mahony
03-10-2009, 06:54 PM
Who admitted smoking sorry? Ah ... I believe you're referring to the David Ferrer comment

Tess Gray
03-10-2009, 06:54 PM
No I dont think Gael smokes... He's said he's never done drugs, never drinks alcohol so I'd be surprised if he did smoke.

Tess Gray
03-10-2009, 06:55 PM
Who admitted smoking sorry?

Ferrer ;) You asked me how I knew. He admitted it himself.

Eimear O'Mahony
03-10-2009, 06:59 PM
Yup I corrected myself when I realised it was Ferrer's smoking you were reffering to. You could be right about Gael but I'd be surprised if Gilles didn't just going by his teeth. Andy Murray doesn't. He said he's totally against drinking and smoking

Tess Gray
03-10-2009, 07:05 PM
Really? Good for Andy! I wouldn't know about Gilles actually... Never really paid attention to his teeth in that way:lol:

You smoke as well, no?

Eimear O'Mahony
03-10-2009, 07:06 PM
I'll just post the pic I was thinking of when it came to his teeth ... Well not so much anymore but yeah I did smoke. You don't right?

Eimear O'Mahony
03-10-2009, 07:09 PM
Here's the pic I was thinking about 'cause you can see his teeth clearly in this one and it looks like there is some cigarette stain ... I could be wrong and I hope I am ... I can't have a boyfriend who smokes now can I? Even if all bar one of my ex-boyfriends smoke

Tess Gray
03-10-2009, 07:15 PM
Ooh wow he really does have cigarette teeth! TBH, I think I like his "I'm frustrated/angry/incredibly sexy"-look better than his "huge smile"-look for some reason.

Tess Gray
03-10-2009, 07:16 PM
When'd you quit? Only a few days ago? Because I think a few days back you were saying something like, brb a quick smoke. No I don't smoke, my parent said they'd pay my drivers license if I didn't smoke till I was 18:)

Eimear O'Mahony
03-10-2009, 07:17 PM
Yeah he does and if you bring the pic to full size its even more obvious. My poor Gillou smokes  You're right though he does look better when he's not doing the 'big smile' pose. Its a nice photo of him but I've seen better. I just posted that to get someone elses opinion on whether his teeth look smoke stained

Eimear O'Mahony
03-10-2009, 07:20 PM
Its actually a running joke between me and Dave that started a week or so ago. He said he'd send Gilles my way if I quit smoking and I have to say I've only smoked one or two since then! I did smoke a bit more while my parents were away because it was easier to smoke in the house so that was probably when I said that to you

Tess Gray
03-10-2009, 07:27 PM
Ah okay! Well I think you're doing a good job then! It's a good motivation to stop smoking huh;)

But yeah, he does have smokers teeth... although I still find it weird how pro athletes can smoke...

Eimear O'Mahony
03-10-2009, 07:29 PM
Yeah I'm so sad ... I know it'll never happen but the thought of it was motivation enough to get me to practically give up smoking  Yeah it is incredibly weird. My brother says he's always slagging John O'Shea for smoking. He's always like 'How can you play for Manchester United and have a 20-a-day habit???

Just catching up. I still maintain I'm the forum klutz. Chopping off the end of my finger and setting fire to my own hair at least deserves an honourable mention surely.

You are making me want to smoke, stop it. I haven't had one in ages.

I am really freaked out I have this electric anti allergy thing http://www.lloydspharmacy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=1008&storeId=90&productId=5383&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=18354&top=&top_category=18352&fromPage=&hotspot_prefix=ELECTRICALS

I have really bad allergies and my friend bought this last year and says it works so I got one. Just used it for the first time and it is the freakiest thing ever it lights your nose up red. Very very weird.

Am getting very worried about Gillou's sexuality with that pic Eimear

I've been worried about his sexuality since he told Gael he loved him and wanted to caress his butt :haha: Is this contraption supposed to stop your allergies or something Tori??? Yup I think you come a close second to Dave in the klutz stakes although I think I take third prize for getting my leg caught in a chair when I was 5 and having to be sawed out of it :haha:

I've stopped worrying about Gilles and Gaël's sexuality since that moment Eimear :rolls: omg I still can't get over that pic ! Why couldn't it have been Gaël instead of Gicquel, god !

I used to be really skinny and I used to squeeze between the railings at the bank by the cashpoint and once I got stuck and it took 3 people to free me (this wasn't recently btw I was about 8) they were debating calling the firebrigade but luckily it wasn't quite that embarrassing.

yes to the question about the allergies uses two wavelengths one is meant to increase blood flow and circulation and the other is meant to suppress the cells that release histamine and reduce inflammation. I hope it works I have to take antihistamines all year round now and it gives me nosebleeds.

Would be worth looking stupid for.

Eimear O'Mahony
03-11-2009, 12:36 AM
Hi Mia :wavey: Oh Lord you've only talked to me one day and already you know all about my dirty mind  Oh yes that picture gave me a HOST of thoughts ... all of them bad :haha: How are you??? My day hasn't been too bad actually. Got in a nice walk on the beach, set up a face book account and hung out here!

:Zaz:
03-11-2009, 12:42 AM
Hey there :wavey:

I doubt you are alone, many a sane woman wouldn't not have 'impure' thoughts when faced with such a..... display.

Ooo, a walk on the beach, sounds nice. I had a lazy day, nothing doing. Just a day with the fam

Eimear O'Mahony
03-11-2009, 12:44 AM
'display' being the operative word  Yeah me and my dog went for a walk in a beach 15 min drive from my house. It was lovely. Sounds like your day didn't go too bad yourself!

:Zaz:
03-11-2009, 12:47 AM
Ah, what kind of dog do you have? I miss being a dog owner. Although I have my first doggie client on Friday - I've set up a dog walking business. So its a substitute.

Eimear O'Mahony
03-11-2009, 12:53 AM
He's a yorkshire terrier. He's really cute. A dog walking business sounds really good! You'll have great fun doing that

:Zaz:
03-11-2009, 12:57 AM
Ah grand, a Yorkie. They're so cute. What's his name? What do you do with yourself workwise, if you don't mind me asking?

Eimear O'Mahony
03-11-2009, 01:00 AM
His name is Brandy ... you can tell he's an Irish dog can't you :haha: I blame my Mam 'cause she named him!!! I work in a supermarket on the checkouts. I have a degree and a masters in marketing but with the recession marketing jobs are hard to come by so I just went full time on the job I was doing through college. Its better than nothing  I'm out of work at the moment though. Had an op on my knee in October and its still not right so I'm still out with it which is a pain in the arse but I'm getting on with things :)

:Zaz:
03-11-2009, 01:07 AM
Oh, sorry to hear about your knee. That's a long time in recovery, I hope everything is alright. I'm very impressed with your education, and its an arse you cannae utilise your knowledge because of the current financial climate. You're not alone, but that is little comfort I know. :(

Me mam has a rule about dog names, she says how would ya feel yelling that on the beach, or in the park, or at three in the morning in the middle of the street - if you feel like an arse, then it ain't the right name. But I think Brandy would pass those criteria fine. Gonna call the next one Whisky?

Eimear O'Mahony
03-11-2009, 01:14 AM
Actually it is a little comfort to know that I'm not the only one in my class struggling to find a job. I think if I was I'd feel even worse  Ah I'm kind of used to it now ... it gets me down sometimes but on the whole I'm just taking it in my stride and following the physio and doctor's advice! I tend not to shout his proper name 'cause I don't want people thinking I'm an alcoholic  I tend to call him Branders or yell 'Here boy' I like your Mum's criteria though. She's dead right methinks!

:Zaz:
03-11-2009, 01:28 AM
Yeah, life can be an arse at times, but it makes the good times better that way. Cheerfulness not tearfulness my granny used to say.

Hahahah  yeah, yelling Brandy in the street at 3am, might be misconstrued. Hehe

Eimear O'Mahony
03-11-2009, 01:32 AM
Your granny talks a lot of sense. Yup, it might be misconstrued big time  Wouldn't want to give anyone the wrong impression of me now would we?

:Zaz:
03-11-2009, 01:41 AM
or fall into Irish stereotypes. ;)

Eimear O'Mahony
03-11-2009, 01:43 AM
True, very true  Stereotypes can be a dangerous thing! The only thing that's Irish about me is my accent. I don't have the drink problem, the red hair or the freckles

:Zaz:
03-11-2009, 01:47 AM
I don't fit those Irish ones - I am dark and teetotal. I don't fall in the scouse stereotype either - pinching wheels and all. I cannae even drive.

Eimear O'Mahony
03-11-2009, 01:52 AM
 And I find it so annoying sometimes that people just automatically assume you're going to fit in with the stereotype

:Zaz:
03-11-2009, 02:03 AM
oh yeah totally, it really grates my cheese as well. But as long as they aren't overly offensive I let it pass. But Paddy's day really grinds my gears, everyone becomes a plastic paddy for the day. ARGH!

Eimear O'Mahony
03-11-2009, 02:07 AM
I know! Everyone pretends to be Irish and its like a walking festival of Irish stereotypes  Anyhow I'm going to head to me bed now. It was good talking to you again and no doubt we'll be talking again soon. Goodnight!!! :wavey:

:wavey: I saw somebody requested a Photoshop job of Gilles et La Monf and couldn't resist having a small go! I had to combine a total of 3 pictures of Gael to get the right idea I had in mind (but I couldn't find a suitable one with feet of Gael to get a better effect, sorry!). Hope you lot like it!

The 2nd attachment is just to show you something I made in the past for another board member, which I think is quite funny (although slightly off topic). No prizes for guessing who they're a fan of ;) (and you could probably guess the member too ).

I would do anything to delay uni work, it seems.... still this was a nice distraction to put La Monf and Gilles together in this way! ;)

Driving is hard! I've had eleven lessons and I still drift to the right side of the road.

Poor you Maria. Hopefully you'll come up with something before your birthday. Dave ... at least you're not polluting the air with the noise of the horn  Yup slow drivers usually get a death glare from me and a finger as I whizz past them

I still have a slight tendency to do that but not as much as I used to. It is something you grow out of the more you drive. It's definitely an instinct when you first start driving to veer to the right

Yeah because my birthday isn't till November! I get dirty looks because sometimes I drive at like 40 km and I'm like "look at my darn L plates, they're clearly displayed on the front and back!"

That's good to know, you used to do it, because all my other learning friends stick to the left, no problems at all.

I always used to go over the speed limit even when I was a learner. My Dad used to kill me  He called me a 'boy racer' I'm not TOO bad now though. I go either on the speed limit or just slightly over it. Never go under it unless I'm in traffic or something like that

I think it is something to do with the parked cars that Dave mentioned. My instinct anyway was to stay as far away from them as possible so I drove mainly to the right. That does get better though as you gain more experience and your judgement of distance etc gets better

Oh, we're the opposites, I'm always driving under the speed limit, once I drove at 20 km in a 60 k zone, thank gosh there weren't very many drivers out there to get angry!

Yes, sometimes the people on my street do it and their garages are empty, so annoying!

I don't know what it is but I just don't feel comfortable going under the speed limit unless I have to. 20ks in a 60k zone? Hey, that's okay. You're still only a learner. You just need to get a little confidence to push that accelerator and go for it a bit more. That will come

you have a great mother then Maria. You're lucky. If I asked my parents to go driving with me at 1am I'd be swiftly told where to go  we have this industrial estate that my Dad used to teach me how to drive. It has everything, left turns, right turns, roundabouts, stop signs, three point turns, hill starts and parking so it was ideal and there were hardly any cars there 'cause we went in the evening when all the factories were shut for the day

She is wonderful, both my parents would do anything for me. I don't even have to ask them for anything. That would have been so handy while you were learning!

It's nice to have parents like that. In fairness, my parents are great too they really are. My Dad once flew over to France just to give me a hearing aid battery because I thought my hearing aid was broken and it turns out it was just the battery  He flew over and flew straight back. He's great! I think they'd draw the line at bringing me driving at 1am though  Yeah it was handy. I was terrified going out into the road in traffic for the 1st time ... I'll never forget it!

You have amazing parents, flying to another country!

I have been on the main road plenty of times when there's been some traffic, but I haven't done peak hour yet. I still have some steering difficulties.
