oh no..they have figured out that you have now met me, they are trying to get you too!

i am like the arch nemesis of the moth army, and they will try and bring me down anyway they can
but they will not :armed: thats why i have let loose geckoes all through the house :wavey: bye moths!

 You'd think they'd be tired coming all the way from Brisbane , but no this thing just would not quit. Needed a bazooka or a kalashnikov to take it out. I am generally against harming nature, but spiders and moths just really grate my cheese. God's animals my arse.

Speaking of waking up with bruises one time I woke up with bruises all over my legs and a cut on my face and I couldn't find my underwear and I sleep ALONE!

did you ever find your underwear?

the bloody thing was probably fuelled by its fury at me killing its friend!
i also have a war with grasshoppers, so i will add them to the list of things that are annoying as fuck! (though i dont mind spiders)

A friend of mine tried to warn me about the amount of funnel web spiders, red back spiders and various snakes I'd see lurking around in gardens, grass, even around toilet seats:spit: in Australia. Around the house and hotel rooms I stayed in,there was one little tiny spider on top of the bath.

I have a phobia of wasps and it is really bad I just can't go near one. One got in my car once and I nearly crashed, I have to keep the windows up all summer and the idea of going to wimbledon this year is actually scaring me because I remember wasps from last time I went.

I think I need therapy or something.

it can happen though, red backs are everywhere, but they hide and you can't really see them :p
snakes aren't as common as people think...and funnel webs are so dangerous but so non-existant around the cities they don't matter :p

Hello!

Eimear O'Mahony
04-06-2009, 12:19 PM
Hiya Maria :wavey: How was uni today? Have you had a good day?

Masha91
04-06-2009, 12:21 PM
Hello! Yeah, I only had a couple of hours of sleep but I'm not tired at all. I just went to my Russian lecture from 2 till 3:50 and I'll just go to the tute and prac tomorrow because the same classes are taught during my three hour break tomorrow and this way I'm not getting home after ten.

Eimear O'Mahony
04-06-2009, 12:23 PM
Yeah that's a good idea. Why come home after 10 if you don't need to? I still can't believe classes finish so late over there! Here we're finished by 5 or 6 on a very VERY odd occasion. The only way we'll stay 'til 10 is if we're working on projects or studying in the library

Masha91
04-06-2009, 12:26 PM
Oh, I don't finish at ten class ends at 7:50 p.m. but by the time I get home it's after ten p.m.

I left home at 10:20 this morning and didn't get to uni till midday, it takes me forever to get there, UQ should get a medal or something!

Eimear O'Mahony
04-06-2009, 12:27 PM
Ah okay!!! I don't know why I just assumed the 10:30 was just class finishing time. Still 7:50 is still very late compared to here you poor thing. Why does it take so long to get to UQ? Is that because you live so far away and the waiting time for buses etc etc?

Masha91
04-06-2009, 12:29 PM
It is quite late, I usually finish around six. The buses are sometimes late yeah and the trains can get delayed but I just live far away from the university, sometimes I wish I went to QUT, it's far more central!

Eimear O'Mahony
04-06-2009, 12:31 PM
But QUT isn't the cool university right? At least that's what I can gather from the many conversations you and Dave have had on the matter

Masha91
04-06-2009, 12:33 PM
Haha, not so much "cool" though we do have a lolly shop at UQ. It's just that some people can be UQ elitists for real and they're not just kidding around. I did apply to QUT as well but they restructured their arts program.

Eimear O'Mahony
04-06-2009, 12:36 PM
You have a lolly shop? Oh yes, is this that discussion you and Dave had about lollies where I said you were flirting? Is it seriously just a shop that sells nothing but lollies or am I being a blonde again and totally missing the point?

Masha91
04-06-2009, 12:38 PM
We do indeed, it's right next to the noodle bar. Oh no, that was something different entirely. Yep, they just sell lollies and other delicious sweets.

Eimear O'Mahony
04-06-2009, 12:42 PM
Oh that sounds so cool. All we had was your standard shop selling crisps, chocolates and drinks (they had lollies too though I guess ... if you can call Chuppa Chups lollies ). We had two of those. You have a noodle bar too? Wow your campus must be pretty big. Ours was relatively small. We only had 2 canteens to eat in

:wavey:Hope you're all OK;)

I knew I was going to have a stressful day on two fronts today. Firstly,I was going to get my mock Law exam results today. Also,at work a funding meeting at CAB to determine how our Bureau would operate budget wise for the next 12 months.

By lunchtime I knew that the funding was going to be enough to keep me there for another 12 months,no staff cuts at all:dance:

When I got home I found out I had passed my mock exam....by 1 mark:rolls:  But now I'm all emotional with it all,I'm worn out.

MTF is giving database errors out like confetti today. OMG this:crazy:place. Especially when I try to get into other threads on this Forum. I know databases are being moved...:help:us all!!!

Mia,Tori:hug: I hope your day went well considering the trying circumstances you were both facing.

Eimear,I'll be thinking of you tomorrow sweetie, when you talk again with your consultant about that knee of yours:awww::hug: I really hope you'll be getting to the next stage of your treatment soon. They've got to help you:awww:

My day wasn't too bad. I am so tired now though it is unbelievable. Can't believe how much support I had from my friends today. I had about 20 texts wishing me well which actually made me a bit emotional (am such a sappy cow at the moment don't know what is wrong with me).

Glad you passed your exams hon. Well done. Which uni are you at? (I think you have told me but I have a memory like a sieve atm)

Aw Tori  I'm glad it went well. Were the people really welcoming?

Cloudygirl
04-06-2009, 08:32 PM
Yes kind of. It is strange because it is a lot smaller and the atmosphere is totally different. People dress more casually, someone had their dog in with them today etc. and the work is different but in some ways the same. It will take a bit of getting used to.

Eimear O'Mahony
04-06-2009, 08:37 PM

Tori:hug: I'm glad you got through the 1st day of your new job. It will get easier;) Just as long as your new employers don't expect too much of you in the early weeks;) Going to a new job is incredibly stressful and it does take a lot out of people emotionally. I've been in that situation so many times,I've done a lot of temping in the past, and done temporary contracts for various Local Government Departments:rolleyes:

I'm not actually at Uni right now,I do my Law course with ICS as a home study course. I decide when I'm ready to take a final assessment in each module which is structured to be like a mock exam, then I move on to the next stage. I get a dedicated tutor,Craig my boyfriend has taken a similar course in the past,so he helps too.

I get depressed, sometimes it comes out of nothing, and then I doubt myself,I eat,a stupid vicious circle:mad: I'm cruel to myself,my hormones are well:fiery: I have a love/hate relationship with food because of this. Oh listen to me moaning, stop it Di(*slaps herself*)

Yes I am kinder to myself most on Fridays,I try to relax all day,be as lazy as I can possibly be. I don't even do any household chores. I just go easy on myself.

Are you a good cook then Mia? Be truthful, blow your trumpet;)

Oh thank God she's home safe and sound Mia  It must be a huge relief to have both operations over and done with now. Yeah it's the not knowing that's killing me it really is. Still it'll be over in a few hours and I can relax. Oh don't talk to me about diets!!! I've tried and failed many a time!!! I have the best of intentions but I always break it :(

Eimear:hug: Well I suppose its daft to ever say I diet, more just go through reasonably long periods when I eat sensibly. I just eat so erratically,it depends so much on my mood. I'm happy right now,so logically I should have something nice, instead of that I'm thinking about my calorie intake:o

Mia,:hug:I cant tell you how relieved I am that your Mam is home and the ops are done.

Oh moan anyway, Di, anyway its not moaning. I think it'd be hard to find a gal without emotional issues to food these days. As long as the berating you do to yourself is kept within limits, and don't purge yourself for the odd glass of wine/choccy or pizza I think its totally natural. Afterall if you had to go through life eating nothing but carrots then you'd be miserable and......... a rabbit ;)

Completely honestly, I am a shocking cook, but there are reasons, I have zero patience and my interest wains half way through cooking. I can cook homey type foods, cottage pies, lasagnes, spag bol, beefburgers, infact anything with mince. Besides that, then I become a veggie - if it looks like flesh I'm done for  How about yourself, you a Nigella in the kitchen, or maybe a Gordon tempers flaring?

Yeah I eat sensibly most of the time too but, unfortunately, due to a medical condition I have I'm on medication which makes it very hard for me to lose weight and I gain weight really easily. Its frustrating but I do the best I can

Mia the patience thing is what does me about cooking. Its so about convenience, and where to get the cheapest ingredients etc. It takes such time to prepare food, and then 5 minutes its all gone down. I do stews, casseroles, steaks, fish dishes and I'm thankful for good blenders and that microwave:lol: I have to be in the mood to cook though, which these days isn't quite so often. Sunday roasts are my favourites to cook:hearts:

Vegetable stock? WTF???, I have the upmost admiration for people who can pull of a Sunday Roast, bringing it all together at the same time, so the veg isn't mush, or the potatoes burnt, or the gravy a lumpy mess, the white sauce rock solid. :yeah: :hatoff:

Eimear O'Mahony
04-07-2009, 05:32 PM
Hello Di :wavey: Thanks so much hun  The doctors was a bit of mixed bag really. I don't know what to make of it tbh. He wants me to have an MRI scan before he can make a diagnosis on it so I don't really know much more than I did before I went. He also wants me to go back to work which is crazy because my knee still isn't better. So I made an appointment with my GP to see her tomorrow and discuss it and get her advice regarding work

but-it's-ok
04-07-2009, 05:39 PM
Eimear:wavey: I don't quite know what to make of it either:awww:. How can the Doctor suggest you go to back to work, you're in a lot of pain, and you have NO diagnosis:help: Seek as many opinions as you need sweetie, one day they might just make a conclusion:rolleyes: They cant leave you like this:sobbing:

You need a firm diagnosis so that you can have appropriate treatment. I cant believe that when you went to see the Doctor today he said go back to work:o It seems they haven't exactly helped you, just made things more:confused:and worrying:awww:

I wish you could go private,I really do.

Eimear O'Mahony
04-07-2009, 06:00 PM
It WAS private though Di that's the crazy thing about it!!! €130 for a consultation that, tbh, wasn't much good anyway. I tried telling him I'm in pain but his reaction was 'don't say anything to anyone and take a couple of paracetemol' I was like WTF??? :help: The health service in this country sucks big time! So, now its back to the drawing board and a visit to my GP who, bless her, is very helpful and very kind. We're hoping she can advise us on the back to work issue in particular

but-it's-ok
04-07-2009, 06:06 PM
It was private:eek: OMG. Sounds like he just wanted to take your money Eimear:fiery: I just though your GP had referred you to a specialist on the NHS. I take it you have explained about how the pain affects your knee time and time again. Are they deaf, daft, what?:o I mean did he examine your knee or anything??? Ask you how well you can move it etc??

Yes,go back to your GP she knows you better than any other Doctor. If you're gonna be paying for idiots like that Doctor you saw today, then keep your money in your pocket if you can Eimear, its better in your pocket than theirs. Geez,I wish there was something I could do sweetie:awww: But there is nothing worse than IGNORANCE,it drives me:mad:

HOW CAN HE BE SO UNSYMPATHETIC??:fiery:

Eimear O'Mahony
04-07-2009, 06:16 PM
Yup it was private. Shocking right??? And this guy came highly recommended. Whoever recommended him was on drugs I think  A lot of the private consultants here are money grabbing bastards they really are. I went to a rheumatologist in relation to my other condition a couple of years back, same money. Anyway, he didn't even have my notes, didn't examine me, nothing. Just literally said 'I don't have your notes. I need to get them I'll see you again' charged me the money and I haven't heard from him since  And yeah I explained everything and my Dad was with me and he said too. Absolutely disgraceful. I was SOOOO upset this afternoon but I've calmed down now thank God

but-it's-ok
04-07-2009, 06:24 PM
Eimear:tears::tears: Your shocking experience proves the one thing thats wrong with so called service providers:rolleyes:today and that is they think they have no duty of care to their customers.

If it was me I'd take this matter further..please hun don't line any more of these shameful peoples pockets. They have ripped you off,no wonder you were so upset. I am getting angry just thinking about what that imbecile did to you,how dare he???

You've done pretty well to calm down sweetie:hug::hug: I could,oh I could swing for the*******!!!! All of them:fiery:

Yep,trust your GP sweetie, perhaps you could take a letter in to her explaining your experience?:awww: I find the power of a letter works wonders. She'll have how you feel, and what happened in writing,OK he's private but it doesn't excuse his conduct!!

I think you'll have to keep it within the NHS now sweetie,I would rather wait and have proper treatment than be pushed from pillar to post by people who are only interested in money, though obviously you are in a desperate situation, willing to try anything.

Eimear O'Mahony
04-07-2009, 06:42 PM
Aw Di  Thanks. You're a true friend you really are. Oh, yeah he did move my leg around and shake it so he knew I was in discomfort. I said to my dad I felt the NHS doctor respected me more and took me more seriously. I might find out if I can go back to him but I don't think I can now I went private :( The health service is just ... :fiery: I'm getting a little mad again! You know my friend has the same condition I have (the one I told you about ... I think I told you that right?) but anyway, she was diagnosed at 11 but do you know what they said to her originally in our local hospital? She's just small, there's nothing wrong with her. She'll hit a growth spurt' and the girl had a pretty serious condition in the end!!! Yeah I am a little desperate right now but hopefully my GP will advise us again. The letter is a good idea actually. I might just do that

but-it's-ok
04-07-2009, 06:54 PM
:awww::hug: You need a lot of TLC from those around you,and us here;) I find that letter writing releases my anger, its constructive, written words are very powerful..just as they are round here:lol: Yep,try it,nothing to lose;)

OK I'll confess I'm having a similar experience with an NHS Consultant:o(what a joke) and he is just useless. I'm due to see him in a couple of weeks time, and if he hasn't done what he will have been advised to do 3 TIMES!! by me,my GP and a Dr at a well womens clinic, well then I will complain to the highest powers and insist he is relieved of his errr duties and responsibilities. (Its all to do with a hormonal imbalance I have). I do not suffer fools:fiery: He has been warned,3 times and he's out... His 3rd and final chance is coming up... and if I were him I'd be afraid....very afraid:lol: I've already had dialogue with him that isn't very pleasant but just about civil.

BTW I hope you will not have to pay for an MRI?? Hopefully your GP will advise you of another Doctor you can see who IS NHS.

I just wish I could do more to help you:awww:

Meanwhile,I found this to get you in the mood for tonights match. My brother Tom is there tonight:banana:

Oh you've helped me just by listening to my rants and that video is just :worship: Thanks a million! That's great your brother is at the match. Let's hope he enjoys it. I love Old Trafford on European Nights. I went to a CL match a few years back. Oh no I won't have to pay for the MRI. Our Health Insurance covers it which is a good thing :) I'm sorry to hear you're having a bad experience too hun  Why can't doctors just do what they're paid to do? I really don't understand it. I really hope he's gotten his act together this time around and you get some satisfaction from him

but-it's-ok
04-07-2009, 07:54 PM
Eimear:hug: Like I said,3rd strike and he's out:lol: Craig says he'll come with me this time, but I have told him that I can fight my own battles. It makes me feel better. I come home from CAB to get away from problems, its always so much easier to sort out other peoples problems, and then I realise I have to get around to my own:lol: I may be losing the battle but I WILL win the war:lol:

Great that your health insurance will cover the MRI;)

Tom loves going to Old Trafford. He goes with a group of mates and always has a good time. He goes to England matches too when he gets the chance.

What??? They're 1 down already:eek: What a jinxer I am:o

Eimear O'Mahony
04-07-2009, 08:03 PM
Ah that's great he goes regularly. I'd go every week if I could! Its 1-1 now so I'm a happy bunny!!! You make sure you take care of yourself hun. Its great you look after everyone else so well but don't neglect yourself and your problems. That's really sweet of Craig

but-it's-ok
04-07-2009, 08:13 PM
 I get paid to sort other peoples problems out,but if I could I'd do it for nothing. Craig is very sweet of course, but he also knows how determined I can be:lol:

Yep Rooney:dance:

I'm keeping an eye on the situation in some Championship games tonight. Southampton are winning:help: Their parent company are in administration, there is going to be an inquiry.. All the clubs around them won't know anything about a possible punishment for a while. They could be deducted 10 points:shrug: These are the scenarios

If Southampton suffer a points deduction and are also relegated, then the penalty will not be applied until the following season.

If Southampton stay in the Championship, then any points penalty would be added to their total this season, which could ultimately result in their relegation to League One anyway.

Clubs around them shouldn't be kept in limbo like this. It makes all the other clubs even more nervous. Charlton are all but down. Then 8 points ahead of them, but 2nd from bottom lie Southampton, then Forest and then...Norwich.

Eimear O'Mahony
04-07-2009, 08:16 PM
That is a disgrace Di. If they have to be penalised fair enough but penalise them NOW!!! Its not fair to have all the teams around them in limbo and not knowing what's happening like that. Poor Norwich  Worrying times indeed. I can't understand it at ALL tbh. Just punish them now and be done with it so everyone knows where they stand! Yeah you're a very determined lady but in a good way, never bad! :)

but-it's-ok
04-07-2009, 08:23 PM
We're powerless though:sad: Well, maybe this scenario, although I'm not sure if I believe in it. Last day of the season,we finish 3rd from bottom and are relegated, then Southampton say finish 21st,the 10 point penalty is applied to them,so we stay up...and they go down..

I just want us to take care of our own results, but now with all this...its surely going to be difficult for the other clubs involved in the relegation battle. Barnsley have games in hand...they are playing one of them tonight. I mean look how close it is:eek::help::scared::scared:

18 Blackpool 41 5 6 10 22 30 6 8 6 18 23 -13 47
19 Plymouth 41 6 5 9 26 30 6 5 10 12 21 -13 46

21 Norwich 41 8 5 8 33 26 3 5 12 17 33 -9 43

what's the score as Estadio Das Antas?
Di! I am sad Charlton is going to be relegated! I have good memories of the Valley and Forest is twice a European champion club, it's shocking they are struggling so much.
I think your beloved club Norwich City will avoid relegaation in the last 2 games of the seasons at Carrow Road, don't worry. :)

but-it's-ok
04-07-2009, 09:23 PM
Isabelle do you mean Porto? They're playing in Manchester, the score is 1-1 right now;)

Charlton and Forest have fallen on hard times indeed. I can remember Forest winning those European Cups, under the great Brian Clough who I miss very much:sad: Charlton,I cant believe whats happening to them - they were relegated at the end of last season, and now look like being relegated again.

Thanks for your support for Norwich Isabelle, very much appreciated:hug:

EDIT Watford 2 Southampton 1. If the match finishes with that score,it will do Norwich a big favour.

2-2:(

2-2 FT Watford vs Southampton,so Southampton move on to 41 points,2 points less than our tally.

I have a close friend who is a huge Sheffield United fan. They just beat Barnsley 2-1:D. Great:D

Its always nice to reach 50 points to be safe from relegation, but I think 48 points will be enough for us.

Isabelle,I appreciate your support for my Canaries, thanks sweetie:hug:

ok so I have to go clubbing on a hen night and I have no idea what type of club it is so have to keep my outfit fairly neutral.

We are wearing dresses. I have a dress (not this one but like it) like this http://www.newlook.co.uk/1576903/157690350/ProductDetails.aspx

http://www.asos.com/Orion/Orion-Peacock-Embroidered-Belted-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=550649&cid=5186&sh=0&pge=2&pgesize=20&sort=-1&clr=Green a dress kind of like this but with a different pattern

http://www.asos.com/Lipsy/Lipsy-Gathered-Open-Sleeve-Tulip-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=544344&cid=5186&sh=0&pge=1&pgesize=20&sort=3&clr=Turquoise and a dress which might actually be this one but it is longer on me.

I can't afford anything new so which should I wear?

Eimear what about microwaveable heat pads for your knee? And maybe try to elevate your knee with a pillow underneath it at night??

Tori,I like the 3rd dress, that would be my best bet;)

Anyway,I'll say 'Goodnight' or 'Good morning' to you all, talk to you tomorrow:wavey::hug:

Yeah I keep my knee elevated at night Di. I've started sleeping on my back with my knee elevated. Thanks for the heat pad advice. I might try it. I'll try anything. Goodnight hun  Sleep well

Hey Eimear, I'm sorry I made you repeat it again, I have read over your messages, and that Doc sounds really off. So sorry hun  now you still have it all to go through, Can you possibly afford a 2nd opinion from another consultant? I know how expensive it is, If you have trust in your GP that is something, and I am sure she will not suggest you take him up on his advice. I mean is he deaf, blind and stupid. He would have seen the pain you were in, not to mention reading your notes, and listening to you :smash: :banghead: :shout: :armed: - it really grates my cheese. You should move to France with me, they have the best health care in the world apparently.

I am really sorry hun, that you are no further forward, it must drive you to insanity sometimes. And although it must be frustrating I really advise against returning to work - you could cause yourself further and irreparable damage, if you know it is not right then don't do it. Be pro-active in your recovery, that's what I was told today, and it kinda makes sense. Know what you can do and cope with and stick to that for now, no matter what a doctor thinks is right for you, how do they really know.

   I am sorry I didn't get here sooner.

Hey Mia, don't apologise really hun  Well I'm going to the doctor tomorrow so fingers crossed she might have more advice for me because I really don't know where to go with it now and it is getting all very frustrating at the moment to be honest. I had a good cry over it earlier because I'm just at the end of my tether with it all and that surgeon was such an EEJIT today and he really made me feel horrible. But I feel okay about it now. If my doctor says go back to work (which I can't see how she will) I have no choice but to go back

I totally empathizes sweetie, I went to see a specialist just before Christmas, and the bastard said I would never improve and tried to put me on these meds, and it was only because my GP called me up and said under no circs should you take that medication, and I am referring you to another specialist that I was able to enjoy christmas. I was howling for hours and (pretty suicidal), so I totally understand. You should cry, and you should rage at such inept bastardry. I can imagine it is as frustrating as hell and that you're somewhat powerless to do anything about it, fingers crossed for the GP and fingers crossed for some remedy. Have you been down the naturist/herbal/alternative therapies route, just to explore any possibility?

Eimear O'Mahony
04-07-2009, 11:23 PM
Oh no!!! Please tell me you weren't so bad you were a little suicidal!!! Oh hun! Although, I will admit to feeling a little like that when I'm at my lowest. Just wanting the pain to go away kind of thing. But yeah I raged (dave was proud of me ) and I let my feelings out and its all you can do in that situation. Is everything okay with you now hun? Or do you still have the problem you were on the meds for? No I haven't been down the natural remedy route. Its something I'd seriously consider at this stage

:Zaz:
04-07-2009, 11:32 PM
Oh I am sure I'll be grand soon enough, it's been 7 years so it cannae go on much longer :) Anyway, this isn't about me, it's about trying to help you , it's good that you raged, don't wanna keep that inside, you should ponder on the natural route, acupuncture, reflexology or the like, also do you have physio? I cannae remember, cos if you don't I could ask me bro to suggest some good stretches, he is a personal trainer & physio. Oh btw acupuncture doesn't hurt, just thought i'd say incase you have needle fear. :)

Eimear O'Mahony
04-07-2009, 11:42 PM
7 years? Oh my God I'm really sorry to hear that  I really hope things look up for you soon. Yeah I've been to physio. Basically there's nothing more they can do for me and they're totally baffled as to why I'm still in pain which is why I went to this eejit in the 1st place. How did you guess I had a fear of needles?

You take all the supplements - glucosamine, cod liver oil and all them? Oh yeah, me stepdad gets really bad arthritis, it kinda moves all over, but sometimes he can barely walk neither, and he went on this diet for two weeks or so, and by the end he was playing table tennis with me for a hour every day. After the two weeks you go back to normal food, slowly adding things you couldn't have, one by one to see if it causes flare up in the joint and pain, and if it does you just avoid it. The only thing he has to limit is citrus, but everything else is grand. What do you think? I can look it up if your interested,

Eimear O'Mahony
04-07-2009, 11:52 PM
Yeah I take Active 55 which has Glucosamine and Cod Liver Oil in it. Wow that does sound interesting Mia because I have arthritis in my knee as well as everything else. I'd love any info you had on it

:Zaz:
04-07-2009, 11:56 PM
No worries, I'll look it up and PM it to you if thats ok. It'll be tomorrow if thats alright, otherwise I have to go to the garage in the dark

You know yesterday you said you were on meds which effect your weightloss, is that to do with your arthritis/knee?

Schu

Eimear, bummer about your knee and soooo frustrating when doctors don't have an answer. In the U.S. an orthopedic surgeon can't do/say anything without an MRI which costs an arm and a leg. And even then three different docotrs will interpret the results differently.

I have a bad knee and know several other people with torn ligaments, arthritis and an assortment of other knee problems. My doc was ready to do arthroscopic surgery on my knee cuz it hurt so bad but I said wait a minute! I went to another doctor who said that I did have a little tear in my ligament but just about anyone who does all the active stuff I do (and is as old as I am) would has some same tears and the tears were probably not what was causing the pain/swelling - just a wornout knee. He told me to take glusosamine/condrotian, something you can get in the drug stores in the U.S. It's like a lubricant for joints. Anyway I took it 3 times a day for about a month and the pain which was so bad I could hardly put weight on it went away completely and everytime it starts to hurt a little bit I take it for a week or so and I'm good to go - can run and play tennis with no pain.

And to think if I listened to the other doctor I would have had the surgery. Anyway your knee is probably not the same problem as mine but I would try EVERYTHING else before surgery. ANd the glucosamine with ice packs works WONDERS. Hope you get some relief.

Ugh I had a long reply typed out to this and then BLOODY MTF!!! Schu, thanks very much for your advice. Its much appreciated  I actually had an arthroscopy six months ago but it seems to have aggravated the problem. I'm actually taking glucosamine/cod liver oil supplements atm which don't seem to be helping at all :( I don't know where to turn now to be honest but your advise is welcome

Mia that would be great if you wouldn't mind hun  I'd really appreciate that. About the other meds, I'll PM you with that in the morning. Its a bit of a private matter. I don't mind telling you hun  Just a little private to be posted publicly is all ;)

:Zaz:
04-08-2009, 02:07 AM
Totally understandable hun, I didn't mean to pry into private affairs - I was just unsure whether it was knee related. I will find all the info for you, try and make it readable. Do you eat offal at all?

Eimear O'Mahony
04-08-2009, 02:10 AM
No, no its okay. I don't mind you knowing :) I hope this isn't too much trouble for you to do this for me? Offal? No I can't say I've ever tried it ... or is that like roast beef and things?

:Zaz:
04-08-2009, 02:22 AM
Offal is like kidneys or liver, stuff like that! No trouble at all hun, anything I can do to help, just wanna get you well :)

Eimear O'Mahony
04-08-2009, 02:24 AM
Oh well then no  I don't (or does steak and kidney pie count ) That's seriously nice of you Mia and I really appreciate it

:Zaz:
04-08-2009, 02:33 AM
Yeah steak and kidney pie counts  It's just I remember this book saying that offal is good if you got joint issues. Eases pain and so forth.

Eimear O'Mahony
04-08-2009, 02:35 AM
I'll be stocking up on the steak and kidney pies then Mia  Thanks for that info!

:Zaz:
04-08-2009, 02:41 AM
and maybe some liver pate if you can stomach it!!! I can totally understand your not eating brain, stomach, tongue etc. What about black pudding, that should be good?!! Isn't that all the insides or is that haggis?

Eimear O'Mahony
04-08-2009, 02:46 AM
Oh I tried pudding before and I really don't like it. I'm incredibly fussy when it comes to food. I just like pork, chicken and beef in terms of meat! Anyhow hun falling down with the tiredness here. Thank you so much for all your support really thank you  I'll talk to you in the morrow

We just have to be careful with any other threads in future. If they get to 4,000 open another thread with part 2 straight away so it doesn't get deleted. I hope this thread doesn't go

Yeah and the funny fotos thread in GM

04-08-2009, 09:16 PM
To me it would be better if they took away any threads that haven't been posted in for more than a year, make sure they remove every CLOSED thread etc and most of all do something radical with GM.

They should mail us,ask us what we think?? Now I know I'm in fantasy land:lol:

Seriously, its:sad:that the best threads look like being disrupted, taken away:sobbing:

Eimear O'Mahony
04-08-2009, 09:19 PM
That's a good suggestion Di. I mean plenty of threads are closed/inactive and there would be NO PROBLEM closing them down so why don't they?

Why don't they indeed? I may suggest it in the Your Suggestions/Feedback thread.
